Finally!!

The agreement that I've been negotiating for the better part of two months has finally gone away!!!  YEAH!!!! The customer finally agreed to the terms and conditions.  There was a term that I put in as a protection for him but, I suppose, out of pure stubbornness, he didn't want-- his thinking being that if I wanted him to have it, there had to be a reason that he didn't want it!  God forbid he just cooperate!!!  ARGH!!!  (I really do love my job-- I do, indeed!!)

Congrats!

To Barbara Thompson-- she is the creator, founder and owner of Research for Authors.  Her business pages look really GREAT!!!  She's been working hard on them and it shows!!!  Great work, Barbara!!!!!

As a side note: Barbara had an interesting idea which was for us to post recipes on our sites somehow.  She noted in particular that she, Wendy WJ and I post interesting and delectable descriptions of food so maybe we should include recipes somewhere.  Interesting concept, I think-- maybe we'll have to figure out a way to do this, don'tcha think?  If you'd be interested in seeing us develop this idea, please email Barbara or me.  If we get a big enough response, we'll look into getting it set up on the Netwidows home page with links to our individual recipe pages or something.  We'll have to work on those logistics yet, eh?

Gotta pack and panic . . .

Not to cut this too short but, the truth be told: I'm freaking out here so I gotta go!  There's food to pre-cook and packing to do.  Brian won't panic-- he never does-- but someone has to do it!!  (Its a rule!!)

(Scene:  Woman running screaming from the room, arms waving in the air . . . ) ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Have a great weekend!!]

The hurrier I go . . .

It seems that there is never enough time in my day at work or at home anymore!  This is getting very frustrating, needless to say!  The saga continues: the contract that wasn't signed yesterday is still not signed-- there's an attorney involved on the other side.  Need I say more?  (No, I didn't think so.)  New contracts are pouring in and arrogant sales reps who think they can negotiate their own deals are begging to be un-Laurel-n-Hardy'd-- another fine mess they've gotten themselves into, indeed!  It doesn't matter that the end of the month was yesterday and the end of the quarter is 29 days away-- everything needs to be done NOW!!

Its 8:56pm and I've been home about 45 minutes-- I had to get my nails done.  After Brian picked me up from work, we went to get the truck and I was home about 15 minutes before I had to leave again.  Then, I was out for three hours because I was early and Linda was running late-- a VERY pregnant woman wanted an extra-long foot massage!!

The truck is fixed for almost $1100.00-- ARGH!! I can't even write checks for that amount!!  (Seriously, Brian had to write the check!) At least the truck is fixed and ready for our adventures this summer-- this is definitely a good thing!

Itineraries for the Phoenix trip in July were sent out-- the only time that appears to be free is from the airport to the hotel (and back) and that's only because the hotel can't guarantee confidentiality.  Customers that are not necessarily employees of my company may be riding the shuttle to the hotel-- so that would be the end of confidentiality, for sure!  Meetings are scheduled from the time we land on Friday to when we are "dismissed" and then, its home again on a Sunday night with arrival after 9PM.  Weekend?  What weekend?  The good news is that I've only got three weeks between my vacation weeks in July/August with this trip falling in between so maybe I won't notice.  Well, its possible!

Hate to be so short but many things to do this evening.  Have a great evening-- the temperatures are beautiful here tonight after a hot-ish day!

If its not one thing . . .

Well, what can you say?  We got the taxes paid off.  We got the airline tickets bought so of course, when money is at its tightest in preparation for the two separate weeks of hotels (one in Oregon and one in Michigan), the truck has to break down!!  Can you spell "A GRAND"?!?!?!?  That's the estimate on the truck repair!!  ARGH!!  If its not one thing, its another, isn't it?  Yeesh!!

End-o-Month

As I think I've mentioned before, its getting to the point where the end of each month is getting as fast-n-furious about agreements as the end of the fiscal year!!  The AVP that I work with usually was in corporate today and we had a negotiation on the "Customer from the Far Side of the . . . "  Nevermind-- I won't go there!  Anyway, beside that negotiation, an agreement that we sent out at the end of March came in today!!  The sales rep and I were absolutely floored!  We sent the document to the customer on March 24 and I received it today-- no, they didn't execute it until yesterday!!  No changes were made to it but, since they've decided that they  want more "virtual users", we need the agreement signed in order to get them.  Voila!  Suddenly, all terms and conditions are fine-- yeesh!!

Mix-n-Mismatch

Well, there are things to get done before the camping weekend-- don't know how we'll do because we've only got a half night tomorrow night for me and a full night on Friday night.  Hopefully, it'll all get done-- Brian's convinced that it will!

**********
Beside the fact that its "How To" night, I'm exhausted-- I went on my bike ride and just about killed myself pushing it. Also its a little warmer than it was yesterday (every day is predicted to get a little warmer) so that is another factor to consider.

I'm going to get an early bath and soak in and then watch "How To" night-- I've missed most of the Santa Barbara house on "This Old House"-- not my usual style at all!

Have a good night!

By the way, the stats say that my visits by unique URLs and pages read are UP again!  Thanks for coming by-- I appreciate the participation and your interest!

(Later, after a gourmet meal . . . )

Happy Anniversary, Brian!

Its our anniversary today so I'm putting up my post early because we're going out for dinner tonight.  Its liable to be a late evening so it makes sense to do the post now.

Brian and I have been married two years today-- not very long by some standards but we are young people so we're not worried about the amount of time we've spent together in this lifetime or the last.  Just that we are together.  Its been a hard two years in some ways but its also been fun.  We've got a lot of time left to have a lot more fun but hopefully no more hard years!

Thanks for a great two years, sweetie!!

Gourmet!

Brian was raised on PBS and Julia Child-- I swear I gained five pounds when he moved in simply because he KNEW how to cook!  Since he's been working on the book, I've done the majority of cooking and dishes after dinner so, believe me when I say that this dinner was definitely a "gift"!!

Surf-n-Turf was prepared by Brian, the master chef: shrimp in a garlic, butter and wine sauce which was mouth-wateringly delish!  Broccoli with green and yellow pepper slices-- nummy!!  And a salt/pepper and Worstershire sauce marinated steak, burned to my specifications!!!  Truly remarkable the way that he can cook!! And he's going to do dishes, too!!  What more could a girl ask for?  Not a thing-- I'm truly the happiest woman I know!!

Thank you again, love!!

And thanks . . .

To all who have written with their congratulations and greetings on our anniversary!  It is so sweet to hear from all of our friends, near and far!!

On to Baseball

So Bob Thompson is the first to chime in about the question of Sunday night's post:

From: "Robert Bruce Thompson" <thompson@ttgnet.com>

> Let me know if you figure that one out, okay?

Let's see. A pitcher was pitching for Team A and struck out three players from Team B in one inning. During the changeover, the owner of Team A, who
was sitting in an executive box with the owner of Team B, suddenly decided he wanted to trade that pitcher. He offered the pitcher to the owner of
Team B, who immediately accepted the offer and wrote a personal check. The owners each telephoned down to their managers and explained the change. The newly-traded pitcher jogged over to Team B's dugout, where he was issued an official Team B shirt and cap. The Team B manager wasn't happy with his current pitcher's performance, and decided to put in a new pitcher. The newly-arrived pitcher was already warmed up, so the Team B manager decided to put him in to pitch. He struck out one of his former teammates,
thereby achieving the record of four strikeouts in one inning.

In response, I clarified a few things for Bob:
I see your point but, did that really happen? According to the TP people, this is a phenomena that really occurred so if that happened, who was the pitcher?  The teams involved?  The date of when it occurred?
To which part of Bob's response was:

Oh, I thought you just wanted someone to make up a story.
That wasn't what I was looking for but, if I were, Bob would be the guy I'd call-- wouldn't you?

Seriously speaking, the fact that two pitchers would, in the same inning, strike-out six batters has happened but what the Trivial Pursuit people are saying is that ONE pitcher set this phenominal record of striking out four batters in one inning.

I'm pretty sure that Bob and I are both convinced that one of two possibilities exist: 1) someone messed up the record keeping or 2) Trivial Pursuit messed up the question/answer.  Considering the quality of some of the other questions from the Millennium edition, I wouldn't be surprised if the true answer to the question is that this question/answer is also messed up-- big time!

And, on that note, I'm going to go back enjoying our anniversary-- that is, if I can tear Brian away from the IntelliMouse that "I bought" for him for our anniversary.  I've gotta start to learn to give him computer-related presents after the occasion has passed!!  Its so hard to get his attention without using the 2X4 when I give it to him tooooooo early!!   ;>)

Sunday's Late Update . . . and more tonight . . .

I'm hooked!

Obsessed . . . fanatical . . . whatever you want to call it!  This morning at 5:54am, I left the apartment to go fishing!!  I've got a set-up on my rod so that I can now cast about 30 yards and, the good news is that at least I caught two fish-- makes it worthwhile when you actually catch fish, don'tcha know?  They're kinda small which is what is stocked in the lakes but they are enough for a meal for us, if we decide to go that route and certainly for someone in our complex.

Its a strange place over at the Dam.  When I got there, at approximately 6:05, there was only three other cars and me.  By the time I left, my little chunk of bank had five adults and one kid on it and it was only a thirty or forty foot wide chunk of dirt!  Yes, it was a little crowded.  I have an advantage though and that is that everyone to my right can't be heard-- I'm deaf in that ear so if they talk to me, I generally don't know it.  That's an advantage when there are that many people around-- it means that I can still pretend I'm alone and fishing in peace and quiet.  Of course, the people on my right think I'm being a snob but those are people I will never see again so . . . ?

Plans?

I have even less of an idea of what I'll do the rest of the day.  A nap will be in order this afternoon when I get around to it but other than that, I've got a couple of fish to clean so we'll see what else develops.

There may be more here later . . .

Tonight . . .

Other than making a couple of errand-like runs, Brian and I didn't do much today.  I did make our flight reservations (one free ticket, thank you) for the Michigan trip later this summer, including our car rental.  The hotel was reserved awhile back-- why a hotel, you ask?  Well, one of my sister's has a big enough house but, since her kids have moved out, they've converted the one of the rooms into a study; I think the other room is still a bedroom but it only has a twin bed in it.  The other sister lives in an apartment which is barely big enough for the three of them, let alone adding two more bodies into the mix!  My brother lives in a town very far away from everyone else and spends his weekends on his boat; I'd be surprised if we even see him while we're there.  Its okay to stay in a hotel cuz we're centrally located to the two of my sisters and close enough to do the things we want to do.

By the way, I hope you all have had a memorable Memorial Day.  I have several memories of Memorial Day and this time of year from my childhood.  First, my mother's sister and brother and families would all meet at the cemetary every year to plant flowers in the urn on my maternal grandparents' headstone.  Second, I also remember the first year after my father died: I had gone to Michigan to visit with my mother and we had gone to the cemetary.  Dad's grave didn't have a flag on it even though he was a veteran!  My mother was very upset so we went to the office and demanded a flag-- they apologized that they didn't have one on his grave and gave us a flag to put there.  My mom and I drove back to his grave and put the flag on it.  For several years after that, I called to make sure that he was getting a flag-- he was in the Navy during WWII so he should have one.  Eventually, the cemetary keepers convinced me that they had adjusted their records and my father's grave has always, to my knowledge, had a flag since that time.  I think that was when I began to understand this day and its meaning . . . its importance.

Well, our housekeeper comes tomorrow so I have to pick stuff up a bit and, I guess that's all for tonight anyway-- have a good one!!
