Round Two . . .

The second round of Christmas ornaments have now been completed.  Because of additions to the list and changes from one of my friends (I'll get to that in a minute), the Craft Corner of Sunnyvale, CA, had to be reopened for awhile.  With having changed jobs, there were new people to think about-- before that, how would I know if I was going to be working with two people or ten?  Now that I've got a pretty good idea, I could finish up the rest of the ornaments.

The change from a friend came in the form of Linda, my "Nail Technician".  (At our wedding, she was telling everyone that she was my Nail Technician-- toward the end of the afternoon, my new father-in-law finally came up to me and asked if my bartender was there, too!)  First and foremost, Linda is my friend-- the coincidence that she's the one who applies the acrylic to my nails every 3 weeks is just that-- coincidence!  ANYWAY, after last week's first-ever cancellation of my nail appointment because of the flu, I had to call her to reschedule the appointment and we got to talking about Thanksgiving (that Brian and I essentially missed because of our flu) and Christmas.  She mentioned that she had order the flocking for her tree: Linda always, I believe, gets a flocked tree . . . usually, its a black flocking (don't even think about white!) but this year its a burgundy.  Now, had it been the black-flocked tree that I've grown accustomed to her having, the ornaments that I had made for her would have been fine-- perfect even but, with the tree now being a "Basic Burgundy", those ornaments wouldn't do and I needed to make ones for her that were made from the appropriate colored ribbons, etc.  After all, what kind of friend would make the wrong color of ornaments for a gift?  Yeah, but try explaining that to Brian!

And after all that . . .

After spending all that time in the last few posts harassing Brian about getting his Christmas shopping done, I have finally finished mine!  I do have one more gift for him that's on order but I'm thinking it will get here in time and then there's the "Man, how bad do I really think he wants that?"  I told him we may be going shopping after Christmas once he notices that one of the things he mentioned isn't under the tree.  I'm not sure how bad he really wants it so . . . well, that's what after-Christmas sales are for, right?

Computer updates . . .

For those of you who don't always read the events of the day from Brian's site, we've had a few glitches this week.  First, my sister in Michigan told us about the "short date" in the Regional Settings of Windows 95 and 98 which Brian knew about but had forgotten to tell me.  Then, there was the "New Virus" which I had to figure out if I needed to get the update from McAfee.  And with only FOUR WEEKS to spare on this year, the Y2K issue struck a little too close to home: our Quicken 99 isn't Y2K compliant and we weren't notified by the manufacturer of the software or our computer that it may be inadequate until now.  Well, all of them have been fixed or are in process of being fixed which is a good thing.

We did make a significant purchase this week: an Olympus D-450 digital camera-- Hopefully, I'll be able to get pictures developed quicker here than I do now-- Yes, yes, I remember I owe you Brian's fish picture from our vacation!! (Where did I put that film?)  ;>)

I even passed the "short date" setting on to the MIS people at my office who were grateful even if uninformed.  (The laptop I use had it set wrong so I thought I'd share it with MIS-- they said thanks but no company-wide posting to check our systems has been sent-- maybe there's a way that they can re-set everyone's from the servers?)

Where does the time fly?

Yesterday was the birthday of my oldest niece, Faye Lynn.  Faye is now TWENTY-FIVE QUARTER-OF-A-CENTURY YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!  And I remember when she and I would playing our little cooing games when I baby-sat her.  "Pookie" always was sooo cute, wasn't she, Karen (Faye's mom, my sister)?
