Successful Day

We had a good meeting with the tax/financial consultant today.  He answered a lot of questions that we had about whether we were taking our finances in the right direction for the purpose of our ultimate goal: owning a house and being able to retire comfortably at a reasonable age.  There are some things that we have to do and learn, i.e., I have to learn to look at a house and not get excited about it but look at it as though we probably won't buy it.  The way that will get accomplished is by going to open houses, seeing what other people are selling and moving on to getting a mortgage broker after the first of the year.  I'm excited, needless to say but that's why we need to get practiced at it-- Brian can look the cool and casual part but I get all glossy-eyed and start wanting to know when I can move boxes in.  That's just the type of person I am, I guess.

After that, I went shopping at a local mall and found a pair of boots that I can wear with skirts (the latest fashion boot, of course) but I was not as fortunate in finding a pair of brown shoes.  I want a plain pair of brown shoes with just a bit of a heel that I can wear with leggings and skirts but, I can't seem to find what I want at a reasonable price.  If I find the style I want, it usually costs a fortune and I won't spend it . . . no luck so far but I'll keep looking as time goes on here.

Then to the grocery store and back home.  All-in-all, my back held up pretty good but I was tired when I got home.  I usually am after shopping without a back problem so I did take a brief nap.

A little while ago I called my cousin, Barb, and talked with her for awhile.  She's doing well and has a post-operative visit with her doctor tomorrow but we expect things to progress nicely from here out so, that's good news.

Tomorrow's the start of another week-- the time is just flying by!!

Take care and have a nice evening!

First, there's Friday . . .

Work was busy as usual-- never seems to be a dull moment anywhere anymore.  This is the last quarter of our fiscal year so I figure its just going to be nuts until that's over!  Its totally amazing and, of course, I'm loving every second of it!!

I left work early to get my hair "wrapped" in perm rods-- I was home by about 7pm or so.  We usually time her because, as most people can see by the various pictures that appear here-n-there in my site and in Brian's, I have long hair.  Last year at this time when my hairdresser was nine months pregnant, it took her 2-1/2 hours to wrap my hair.  This year, it took right around 2 hours to wrap my hair which is considerably longer.  Needless to say, she's doing better.  She'd also be the first to point out to her husband that she's better and faster at everything when she's not pregnant.  (Yes, you're right-- she doesn't want to have any more babies for awhile and he wants another NOW!)

 . . . and then there's Saturday . . .

We went to bed at around 10pm (aren't we exciting?) and, I was awake by 12:30am until 3am.  Perm rods do not bend and are not flexible in any possible way-- that along with the fact that I have just not been sleeping well lately and, bingo-- I was exhausted when I woke up today.  I was under the hair dryer from 8am to 9:45am at the salon but, when she took my hair out of the rods, I had a perfect perm!!  Krista's good at doing that-- giving me a perfect perm!!  She's never to retire or move away and I've made her promise that to me-- that's her goal anyway so I think I'm okay.

At 10am, I went over to Linda's room at the salon and had my pedicure and nail fill so I'm completely a re-done woman tonight.  By the time that I got home from the salon at about 1:30pm, Brian had ripped out the last tomato plant (yeah!!) and uprooted the chili pepper bush, taken out the trash and started the laundry.  When I tried to help him fold and hang the clothes, he wouldn't hear of it and promptly sent me to bed for three hours which is where we are now.

I had brought home boxes for shipping the ornaments out and will hopefully have that completed and ready for shipment in the next day or two.

Tomorrow we're going to meet with a tax consultant and then over to Grammy's to drop off a tape from "If You Love That Woman Don't Marry Her".  Brian will be with me and I think that it's a good thing for him to see her every once in awhile, too.

That about covers it for me-- I've gotta figure out something that Brian is willing to eat with major edits happening on a chapter of the book . . . I think that's what's happening anyway.  I am drinking my next pot of coffee as I type this so I may not have my facts coherently placed at this point.

Happy Birthday to Dan Bowman!!!

Have a nice evening everyone!!

Blind as a . . .

Sorry but the perm rods are blocking me from wearing my glasses correctly which means that I can't see the computer screen to put up a proper post.  Bear with me tonight and I'll be back with a full update for today tomorrow . . . I think.

Have a good one!

Excuse me?

Yes, that would be-- the one who has been "excused" from chiropractic care!!!!  Yeah!!!!  I can bicycle again!!!!  YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell I'm a little excited about this?  Yes, well, I am!!  Only one problem: I have an appointment tomorrow evening to start the process for my annual permanent so I won't be home after work to go bicycling!!  Oh, man, if it isn't one thing, its another, ain't it?  Yeesh!!

Okay, here's the plan:  Brian has asked me not to bicycle to work because people are: a) stupid at 5:30am and may not see me even with lights on my bicycle and a reflective vest; b) I might be tired after working all day (like I am these days) and may not feel like riding my bike home requiring him to pick me up when he's in the middle of something; c) I may need to bring my computer and files home from work so it will be a lot to carry on my bike in my backpack; and d) people are stupid and may not be awake enough to see me in the morning!!  Okay, so I won't do that, 'kay?  Okay!!

I'm going to go into the office immediately after getting out of bed in the morning (at least three mornings a week) and go to the club to do at least a treadmill walk of 2-3 miles in the morning.  Then, I'll bicycle after work doing 2-4 miles (three to five times per week).  Yes, I'll still be doing the stomach crunches and tummy-toner things; I've got to be careful to not over-do it but, I can do it!!  I have full release from my chiropractor for exercise!!

Interesting Proposition

After my chiropractor said I was okay to exercise, he made a strange proposition.  Knowing that I have a thyroid problem, he wants to work on my neck (thoracic and cervical spine) to try to control the thyroid problem that I've been having.  How we will know when its working, I don't know but it may help a number of problems in that area so I'm game to try it.  My insurance has run out (I only get $500/year) but he's willing to see me for that at no charge because its kind of an experiment for him, too.  Okay, its worth a try.

If you have any knowledge or experience about this, let me know-- I'd love to hear more about it!  As tired as I am again tonight, I'm willing to try anything to help get my thyroid under control!

**********

Okay, so "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" is on tonight-- my favorite show!!!-- and, I've got ornaments to wrap.

Everyone:  Think "Happy Thoughts" for the Belands-- they've both got interviews in Seattle tomorrow!!  Keep your toes, fingers, knees, elbows-- everything crossed!!!

Have a nice evening!!

Here it is!!

The Official Start of the Holiday Season!!!  My favorite time of year!!!  Not that I needed an actual "start"-- Brian'll tell ya: I've been at this for months already!!

One example of how you know that I've been at this for months is the picture to the left but, several other examples of how long I've been at this are scattered around the beginning and ending of this paragraph.  What can I say?  I've been a little busy!!  Apparently, Brian really liked the bird cage-- that's the only close-up he took!  The majority of these are the ones that are being sent out in the next couple of weeks.  Some of them I'm going to keep for us but, the ones for local gifts like for my co-workers and/or Brian's co-workers, etc., haven't been made yet.  I've also got to make more for our Christmas tree.  I  want it to have a bit of an old-fashioned look to the tree with mostly homemade ornaments so I think it'll be a neat looking Christmas tree.  I can hardly wait!!  (If Brian doesn't take down the last tomato plant, I won't have to wait too much longer!)

Oh??

Yes, that's right-- the first year we were together, I had tomato bushes blocking my front door up through Halloween.  I finally got him to take out the tomatoes by threatening to put up the Christmas tree on November 1.  Unfortunately, that threat hasn't worked, so far.  Notice I said "So Far" . . .

Other Stuff

Work has been ridiculously busy lately-- I like it, don't get me wrong but I would like to hope that it won't be like this for the rest of the quarter!

Even though I'm taking a new thyroid pill (.2mg, which was a jump from .1125mg), I'm tired!!  I have had a couple of panic attacks but I've been able to talk myself through the attacks which is, in itself, an interesting concept.  A couple of the hot-flashes have happened but nothing like what I expected-- all-in-all, other than being extremely tired, I think I'm doing well.

Its How-To night and I have ornaments to sort, box and wrap-- yes, my evenings are pretty much "tied up" for awhile, eh?

Take good care of yourself and others that are important to you.  Have a good evening!

Happy Halloween!!

Well, I did wear my Star Trek shirt to work but, since I couldn't fashion an ear cuff last night, I decided not to bother to try to fashion a Bajoran nose.  As a result, I went as an earthling, "Lt. Commander Bilbrey, Bridge Officer"; one of the guys at work was also wearing a Star Trek shirt/jacket but his was from the ST:TNG movies while my style is definitely from the ST:TNG television series.

In my department, we had one woman that showed up as a hippie and another as a gypsy and another came as a cat (yes, she's about a size 1 or 2 so you just have to hate her cuz its normal to do so!) and another was  dressed as a floozy (?).  We were all quite adorable, needless to say.

And then there's Brian . . .

This morning I emailed my beloved to say:

I assume that you figured out that you're responsible for giving the candy to the kids tonight?  I left the candy in the living room and, since you're the only
one home, you'll need to turn on the porch light and pass out the candy when the kids come to the door.
To which my sweetie responded with:
Yeah, I am trying to get out of here early, since I have to string the concertina wire, enable the mine field, and test fire all the remote machine gun nests. By 5 pm I'll be in full cammo with a sniper rifle, laying out on the roof to pick off those who make it through the outer perimeter. You'd better call me before you try to
come in. There may be other people dressed up in Star Trek garb...
Obviously, this seemed to me to be a joke-- doesn't it to you?  Brian threatening to keep children away from his chocolate!!  Yes, Brian loves his chocolate but you wouldn't think he'd begrudge some of the neighborhood kids a little pleasure, too, would you?

Well, when I got home, there was no porch light on, there were no lights in the living room on.  When I got up the stairs and opened the door, I saw a full bowl of candy.  He wasn't joking!!  He really wanted all of the candy for himself!!  I've been home for an hour and no one has rung the bell so, now we have two pounds of chocolate in the house-- no, I'm not thrilled!!

**********
I still haven't sorted through my ornaments yet-- I've got to get them sorted so that I can get them ready to send out!!

Also, beside the fact that Brian ran a "CheckBot" on my system Saturday night, my numbers are higher again this month!!  Excluding the 250+/- page reads generated by his bot, I've got about 3,500 pages read and I think that's great!!  Thanks for coming by!!  I'm glad to have you in for a visit anytime!!

Until tomorrow, have a good evening!

Update at 7:??pm

5:00am

I'm sure its the time change but I've been awake since 3:50 and out of bed since 5:00am.  I'm tired . . . More so than usual.  I've got to get Brian up in a little bit-- I turned the alarm off so it wouldn't be so intrusive on him when wakes up.

I'm sure that part of my not being able to sleep is that I've got a lot on my mind lately . . . my cousin and her surgery and I heard from another friend of mine last night.  Kathy has a daughter a few years younger than me who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Man, these days, even your own body is a scary world!!!

I don't have any dizziness or "icky" feelings today-- that's an improvement and a welcome one at that!  I've got to stop at the lab on my way into work to set up a blood test for 4 weeks from now.  I get to start the new medication today, too so it should be an interesting day all the way around.

I hope everyone has a good day-- I'll write more later tonight.

7:??

I'm back!!  I've survived the day with the only side-effect from my medication being a bit of an energy spurt when I got home (a good thing) and a bit of a . . . well, hot flash.  I don't know what they feel like but this felt kind like I was flushed and a little perspiry but I wasn't hot nor was I feverish from the flu or something like that.  I got a feeling it was a hot flash which, when you think about the fact that the prescription is meant to replace the thyroid hormone, that makes sense.  I had no palpitations though so that was a good thing.

Speaking of thyroids, Barb's surgery went well!!  The doctor could see the pituitary and said that it looked like it was fine.  They took all of the thyroid along with a couple of the lymphnodes that were near it just to be safe.  They figure it'll be about three weeks before they can do the iodine/radiation thing on her.  By that time whatever cells are left will be "hungry" and latch onto the iodine/radiation that's "fed" to them.  As a result of that, they will kill themselves off though-- kewl, huh?

Tonight, since Brian wasn't feeling great yet, I whipped up a bit of homemade chicken soup-- always a great spot hitter.  As usual, there are more things in it than there is "juice" but, that's one of the things I like about homemade soups!

Work is monstrously busy-- end of the month, don'tcha know?  I've got major re-writes on three documents going right now-- totally fun!

The housekeeper is coming tomorrow and I've got the dining table to clean and ornaments to sort.  Brian said he'd do dishes later and I believe I'm going to let him.

Take care and have a good evening!
