Exceedingly Late . . .
Errands run, Christmas decorations are down, and it is very late tonight as I write this post. Everything that we wanted to accomplish was accomplished and that's always a good feeling.
Tomorrow I'll work from home, rising at 6:30am in case John calls-- I told him he could call me after 7am my time. I'll wait until about 1pm their time and then, go have blood drawn for a thyroid check as well as errands to the office supply store and fabric store.
Sorry so short but we are terribly tired and ready for sleep.
Have a nice evening . . . or should that be "night"?
Saturday, December 29, 2001Nice Day
We had a lazy morning getting up and then, at about 11:15 or so, we went off to see Brian's mother's side of the family at a holiday gathering in Los Gatos. Fun time was had and, upon our return, we took Sally to the pet food store to get food and treats. She ignores the other dogs in the store for the most part-- smells them a little but nothing major. (I think the interaction between dogs is interesting!)
On our way back from that, we stopped at one of my co-worker's house. She has two kids (Claire-10 and Jeffrey-8) to whom she wanted to me to introduce Sally. The kids had a good time and even took Sally for a little jog around the block. Jeffrey wanted to keep her, asking his mother what they could trade for her. I explained to Jeffrey that there wasn't enough money in the world and someday, he would understand.
Then, we came home and Sally and I napped on the sofa for a bit, had dinner (each our respective, of course) and now, I've hauled out a crocheting project to continue. It was started a number of years ago but, since I like to work on stuff like that when I watch television, it seems perfect to pick up again.
Not much happening, obviously. Tomorrow is a Costco run (for me the first time in three or four weeks!) and grocery store in addition to finally taking down the Christmas decorations. I had hoped to get started on that today but there wasn't enough time in the day.
Today and the rest of the weekend is liable to be hugely "wind-downish" for me so if the posts seem a bit slim, please accept my apology. You could always go over and visit the Christmas 2001 page that I finished up last night or Sally's Home Page to see some new pictures of her that I posted last night.
Thanks for stopping by-- all of you!! Have a nice evening!
Friday, December 28, 2001Another Dynamic Day
Whew-- it was another busy day in the software world!! The end of quarter/end of fiscal year madness is, for the most part, finished. There may be a few things that crop up on Monday but, I'm going to try to work from home. The good news is that I live so close to work that if I have to go into the office, its not a big deal. There is an agreement that I will work on but it won't probably get finished because I am requiring input from a secondary sales rep that is not getting an understanding of the material that is needed from him.
Christmas and Sally Updates
I've just finished updating the Sally Home Page-- she's a busy girl, ya know? Although this time, one of the sets of pictures shows her doing her most favorite thing: napping. Slowly but surely, she's also learning to play and that's important for a doggie-child!
Christmas 2001 is now complete-- I've put up the pictures from our trip to Orinda on Tuesday. The kids are cute as usual and we all had fun watching them. I hope you enjoy the pictures and, as last year, enjoy the page as a whole. There is one more picture that I'm anticipating receiving but, other than that, these are the sum total of the pictures and the season on the Christmas 2001 in Sunnyvale page. I've gotten a lot of feedback from my readers so I'm glad that everyone is enjoying reading this page and looking at the pictures. It'll stay as a permanent link on my Meanderings page just like last year's page as well. Enjoy!!
Week is done??
It feels more like Wednesday but, if you insist that I get to sleep in tomorrow, I'll believe you-- gladly. Work-wise, its been a very screwy week with the day off in the middle of it but, I'll get used to it since there's another one next week. The following week doesn't get any better because we're taking Monday off just to say that we did.
I'm very tired and in dire need of a break-- it seems like all of last year's vacations were a lot of work. In one case, with the move, it was a lot of work but, beside that, there was a week off for dental surgery and, thankfully, fun was had when my cousin was in town visiting. This coming year, I hope to have some real time off instead of the kind of time off that is work. Remind me of that in August, okay?
On the Agenda
De-decorating (or should that be "un-decorating"?) the house after a short jaunt to Brian's mother's cousin's house tomorrow. I've got three or four days to do it in but I have sewing that I want to start: two jumpers, a skirt and the cushions for our patio chair set. Of course, that doesn't count the quilting so my work is cut out for me-- pardon the pun!!
What else? Oh, yeah-- REST!!!
Have a nice evening!
December 27, 2001Nothing to Speak Of . . .
There isn't going to be a real post tonight-- there's just not much to report plus, I'm trying to get my desk and office reorganized. After this weekend, I want to be able to use my office as a sewing room, too (yes, I know-- in addition to everything else) but I have to get and stay organized before I can do that. I've already
complained-- whoops, I mean-- mentioned to Brian that our next house has to be a four bedroom so I can just make a mess and close the door on my room!!! This is a real pain!!Good Girl!!
Sally went to work with me today and I had every intention of bringing her home at 2 and working from home for the rest of the afternoon but, a customer had a different idea. She was with me from 7:30 to 4:30 with only three or four walks outside and, of course, a lot of petting and napping. All-in-all, she did really well-- of course, when we got home, she bolted up the street which I wasn't happy about, needless to say. She can move pretty fast for an "Ol' Girl" when she wants to, let me tell ya! Brian banged up his knee trying to catch her!
Sorry so short but thanks for coming by-- I'll have pictures of Christmas up tomorrow night. Gotta get back to this desk!!
Have a nice evening!
December 26, 2001The Day After
So much to report!! We had a wonderful time at Orinda yesterday. Sally was a hit with everyone but especially the kids. The poor girl didn't get much of her usual rest but I think she had a good time. She's becoming accustomed to going places with us and leaving to go home again with us so she's getting used to being in her new home.
As always, the time spent with Brian's family was a lot of fun-- his parents and sister and her family are wonderful. We missed having Pete, Brian's brother, there with his daughter but they made it by phone for a brief "visit". There will be a pictorial report later tonight or tomorrow?? (Soon, at any rate.)
We were home and nicely tucked in bed by 10pm since I had to go to work today. Wow, that was exciting!! NOT!!! I think a lot of people in my regional office were off for an extra day because there was very little activity. Most of the people in our office building were out, as well. It was a slow day and, about 2pm, the diretor hijacked all of us to go hit the After-Christmas Sale at Macy's. For me, it didn't do much good-- I couldn't find anything except a turtleneck shirt for Brian but, I diligently tried. Between the lines and the offerings, I wasn't that interested in what was on the racks. I thought if I could find a sporty-type of light-weight jacket I'd be happy but, alas, I found nothing that appealed to me.
I came home at about 3:30 and Brian and I went to the office supply store to pick up stuff that I wanted for organizing my desks at home. That being done, I promptly laid down for a nap with Sally when we got home. Now that we've decided to snack for our dinner, I'm posting this and am going to finally start that organization project. There's always something, eh?
Street Legal
Sally has her license!! She is completely street legal now including her "notice" that she has been spayed. While the check-mark isn't very easily readable on the adoption papers, it was a key factor involving a $10.00 difference in licensing if they didn't accept the adoption papers' version of the answer to the question. They did and, in fact, gave Brian a "Free" coupon so when it came time to pay, he gave it back to them and, voila-- her licensing was free. Not bad at all!!
We're going to have to get her a new necklace to wear one of these days-- between her Furry Friends Rescue tag (which must be worn forever), her rabies tag and her license tag, she's a jingling machine!! Heaven forbid she gets an itch in the middle of the night!! ;>)
**********
Thanks again for stopping by-- hope you have more fun than I do-- have a nice evening!!
Merry Christmas!!!
(December 25, 2001)It is a beautiful Christmas morning here in Sunnyvale, California! I don't need snow to have a Beautiful Christmas-- actually, I may need it NOTto snow to make it a really beautiful Christmas in Sunnyvale, California.
I've updated my Christmas 2001 page with some pictures that couldn't be included before and I've updated Sally's Home Page with some new photos, too. And, as promised, here are the pictures of my straight hair-- I actually succeeded in doing a pretty good job of imitating my hairdresser's version, too.
Have I left anything out? Hmmm, I don't think so . . . I'll keep you posted if I think of anything else though--
Have a great and wonderful and joyous and
very, very, VERY Merry Christmas!!

(Christmas Eve!!)Just Like a Kid at Christmas!!!
I'm terrible-- I love giving gifts to people! I went from office to office of my co-workers watching as they opened the gifts from me!! I had so much fun, watching each of their faces light up as they opened their gifts!! People like it when you remember details about their life: Mike and fishing, Cindy and shoes, Suzie and bubble baths, Nina and her snowman collection, and Joyce with her candles. They feel special and endeared at the same time. When you can combine gift-giving with making someone-- five or six someones-- feel special in a crowd, a truly fun time is had by all.
Thanks for Everything!!
I think my husband said it beautifully today: "There are a few things under the tree for us from friends near and far. We've also gotten cards from many of you, kind readers, and they adorn our living room as brightly as the lights on the tree. It's been a pleasure sharing time and life with you - I look forward to more of the same." I wanted to come up with something profound to say but this made so much sense-- I've met a lot of people on the internet since we've been doing this and enjoy each and every encounter. I feel touched to have you stopping by to read my site and sending me email and taking a moment out of your day to spend with me. For that, I am grateful.
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup is on the stove and almost ready as I post this short update.
Have a blessed and wonderfully merry, Merry Christmas.
