Nap Time!!

I'm whipped!!  This morning I went to Laurel to find the pearl cotton yarn/thread that I was looking for yesterday.  Thankfully, I was successful and after doing a little Christmas shopping for the admins at the office, I came home to drag Brian out to do the grocery shopping.  When we returned from that, with postage stamps in hand, I came upstairs and finished writing the bills.  Even wrote two checks that I don't have the bills for yet-- gosh, I hope I've got the right amount!  If not, I'll be re-printing those checks but at least I tried!

Other than that, there's not much news here.  Getting ready for the week that'll start too soon but, at least its my last week before my vacation!!  That'll make it fly by, right?  Yeah, sure!!

Have a good one and I'll see you tomorrow!

Exceedingly Busy Day!!

Brian decided to either buy the tools for making a desk or to just buy a desk today so we went shopping!!  Desk furniture is interesting to look at because unless you can afford to go "High End" (which we cannot), you end up getting what seems like two cardboard boxes with one having a Post-It note attached to it saying "Sit Sideways to Use as Display Hutch".  Well, we didn't go "High End" but we got him a desk.  It has a nice dark cherry "finish" and it looks really nice set up in his office.

After we got back from the search for the perfect cardboard boxes, I made some popcorn for my lunch and lay down for a nap.  (It is, afterall, a Saturday-- what did you expect?)  I slept for a little more than an hour and then went upstairs to work on my quilt.  I quilted this way and then I quilted that way and then I quilted around, twice-- the quilting by machine is finished!!  I've got some hand-tying to do but I have to find the right yarn first.  I thought that one of the quilt shops that I went to recently had the right yarn but it didn't.  I'm going to try Hancock's and Joann's tomorrow (Joann's is closer so I'll go there first) but I need to find the right stuff.  I'm also going to make a couple of throw pillows for this quilt.  This one's for a girl so it is only fitting that there are at least a couple of throw pillows.

I finished up the quilting at about 6 and went downstairs to make dinner: a chicken stir-fry with the last of the vegetables from the grocery run.  Nummy stuff!!  I decided to make tonight a do-nothing night so I found a semi-scary movie ("The Gift") and, now I'm writing this and getting ready to place a computer game so I can stop thinking about the movie.  :>)  Yes, its going to be an interesting night of sleep, I can tell!!

Anyway, we had a productive day around here today-- hopefully, you did, too.  Have a great night, what's left of it and I'll see you back here tomorrow!

Busier Day

Today was a bit busier-- things to do and documents to review/redline.  I like redlining-- sometimes its just fun to read documents and other times it is just interesting to see how other companies do stuff.  We probably shouldn't have reviewed this company's document but I had time and figured I might as well.  I did that in a couple of hours' time and sent it back to the customer who doesn't do his own reviewing but had to send it back to his attorneys.  Now, we'll have to sit around and wait for a week or so to see what happens.

Weekend Plans

The weekend's plans are pretty much the same as always: its going to rain so I'll be sewing and Brian will be playing on computers.  We do need to make a trip to Home Depot or Lowe's at some point.  The doctor suggested that the air may be too dry so I should get a humidifier to see if that helps the headaches.  If it doesn't, that's okay because we should have the upstairs humidified anyway since it will get too dry with the heat running.

Anyway after that (or before it), I have quilting, quilting and more quilting to do along with some . . . quilting!!  Yes, I'm going to be a busy little girl this weekend, that's for sure!!

*****
Speaking of which, I'm going to go downstairs-- it seems to be pretty warm up here tonight-- and see what the Little One is up to: she can't be trusted alone sometimes, ya know?

Have a great evening!

Boring!

It was a boring day at work today-- as a result, I've nothing to report to you!!  That's pretty sad but, true.  Boring is certainly better, however, that over-wrought and totally weird so I'll take it.  I am suffering from the usual end-of-week tiredness however and, as a result of that, had a nice little nap before dinner.  Hopefully, there won't be any strange side effects from that like not being able to get to sleep tonight.

One Week To Go!!!

As amazing as it may seem, we're only one week from getting Sally out of a cast.  Whoda thunk that the time would go by so fast, eh?  Man, she'll be a grateful little doggie afterward, I can tell you.  I have mentioned before that for some reason, this cast seems to bother her more.  Maybe she's gaining weight (even though we're feeding her less) but she really doesn't like it and keeps chewing at it to try and get it off.

After the cast is removed, she's going to come to my office with me-- Judy and Lee are looking forward to her visit-- so that she won't have to be alone.  She's liable to be confused and not understand why she's still a little sore in her leg so we thought it better that she wasn't alone.

*****
I'm taking it easy tonight-- the rest of the night will be spent reading magazines or watching the television.  I'm ready for a weekend, let me tell ya!!

Have a great night!

They're Baaa-aaack!!

The pesky headaches are back.  Interestingly, we had the heat turned off for a few days but then turned it on last night and I woke up with a headache.  Hmmm, can you say "Dust Allergy"?  I've got a feeling that's what it is but I'll check it with my doctor on Friday-- I have an appointment set up with him already so I'll see about getting something for my allergies, if that's what it is after all.

New Dentist

As Brian has mentioned several times, we have a new dentist-- that's a "Dah" since we just moved here, eh?-- and I went to see him for the first time today.  Nice guy-- he found a chipped tooth that I had forgotten about so we set an appointment to get that fixed early next year.  It doesn't bother me so there's no point to getting it fixed any earlier than my next cleaning.  If it starts to bother me, I'll give him a call but I don't expect any problems since I haven't had any so far.

Not Ken Lay

Apparently, there are a few people who have been living in caves lately and don't realize the kinds of things that can get you in trouble.  I speak of a call that I had with a customer who is a reseller of software and services.  The negotiator wanted me to write a side letter stating a certain set of facts.  I refused to do so on the grounds that I like my job and don't want to lose it.  She said "That's preposterous-- why would you lose your job over this letter?" You see, in our company, that kind of thing is grounds for dismissal, as I explained to her-- she thought that was appalling.  "No," I said, "Corporate America has stopped doing that sort of thing-- for a number of years now."

Sheesh!!!  I couldn't believe her!!  The conversation didn't end on a good note, needless to say.  She threatened not to resell her products as I explained that was up to her to decide.

*****

I've got to update my Outlook/Palm interface with appointments that are scheduled but not entered into the "system" that I have here at home.  I'm also hoping my headache will go away-- soon-- which would be good.

In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!

Busier Day at Work

And that's always a Good Thing.  I hate it when it is boring or there isn't much happening.  Among other things, there was a conference call with our General Counsel, Director, my manager and Judy with the Brazilian of-counsel's office.  They had two attorneys on the line-- we're trying to translate our documents into Portuguese and that type of thing always requires at least one conference call.  Their lead attorney, the General Counsel, and I were the only ones that were actually talking on the call-- my manager, Judy, noted with interest that the GC and I were doing  most of the talking, which speaks volumes for me.  I thought so, too-- I was pretty proud of myself for knowing as much as I did about the Brazilian operation.

Rumor has it that a trip to Brazil might be required in 2003 sometime.  My passport's in order-- no problem here!

And Speaking of Christmas . . .

No, we weren't-- you didn't miss anything-- but I forgot to mention last night that while Shelley Bowman's out buying artificial Christmas trees, Brian talked me into buying a real one this year!!  That'll be the first time in a LONG time that I've had a real tree at Christmas!!  We bought the tree-stand at Costco on Sunday but there are two requirements: 1) we don't wait until the day before Christmas to put up the tree and 2) Brian has to be the one responsible for making sure that the needles don't fall out!!  Should be interesting to see how this works out, eh?  I'm curious, if nothing else.

Completely Frustrated!!

Remember the quilt that I was working on this summer that caused me so many problems?  Well, its continuing!!  This is the last quilt that I have to get ready for Christmas-- of course its the last: that's why it is frustrating me!!

Anyway, the other night, I made a label for the name and gifting date, etc. but because it was too hot in my office/sewing room, I couldn't work on it anymore.  Tonight, the weather has finally cooled off a bit-- the upstairs is comfortable and the downstairs is "brisk"-- so I can sew.  I sewed the label on the backing fabric and laid it all out with the batting.  Then, I promptly cut through (*!*) the label when I was trimming the batting to size!!  ARGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I came upstairs to reprint another label and the printer was messed up so Brian helped me with that one.

I'm beginning to wonder about this quilt!!

*****
Needless to say, my work is cut out for me-- I've gotta go and try to fix the problem, hoping that I don't tear my hair out in the process!

Hope you have a great evening, in case I don't!!

Rain, Rain and More Rain

I'm beginning to think we moved to Seattle, via the long route!!  It was raining again today as we woke up with the weather progressing to thunder and lightning by the time we left.  When I came downstairs after getting ready for work, Sally was cowering in the corner of the livingroom-- she really hates thunderstorms and she can't even run upstairs to get comfort from me!!  Poor baby!!  I left the afghan that both Brian and I have used in the past week on the floor for her so that she had some way of getting our scent and, hopefully, some comfort from it.

Slow News Day

As I write this, I'm actually sitting in my office taking a break from the lack of phone calls and documents to draft.  I've got one document that I've been working on this morning but that's all that's on my plate at this point.

Now, there are two ways to look at this: 1) great-- a day to relax and 2) ohmigoodness-- what's going to break loose next week?!?!?!?

I would, of course, prefer to think that the former is the case but, I'm afraid that the latter is what's going to end up happening.  I love trying to get ready for a vacation in this job!!!

Its Official!!

I have come to the ultimate and final decision that I cannot and do not have time to work on any Christmas ornaments this year!  I tried to fit it in but I just don't have the time even with my upcoming vacation-- that's pretty sad, isn't it?  I'm so used to giving them to some people, that I now find myself at a loss as to what I should give them!!  It was so nice to be able to give them a hand-crafted gift but, I just don't have the bandwidth this year.  I've got one more full-size quilt to sew along with some table runners and placemats.  BUT, I just don't have the time-- we'll try again for next year, okay?  Okay!!

Thanks for coming by as always-- I appreciate each of you cuz its so fun to read the emails and make new friends every day!

Take care of yourselves and have a good evening!
