Decisions, Decisions!!
I have made the decision NOT to make Christmas ornaments en masse this year. That means if you received an ornament from me last year, you may not receive one this year. I'm thinking it highly unlikely that I'll make very many but please, don't be offended if you don't receive an ornament this year. The Factory is busy with many other things this year, ya know?
Garage is Done!
We've touched everything one last time for a year until we move and have arranged most of the boxes and leftover stuff from the move. We can fit the Elantra in the garage which was the main goal. It has an alarm on it but it is kinda weird not having all of the cars outside the garage.
Anyway, that was the extent of our weekend-- with one exception: I have finally gotten rid of my headache!!! YEAHHHH!!!!! We'll see if it lasts, eh?
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening, night, morning or afternoon!
Saturday, September 28, 2002Clam . . .
As in "Happy As A"!! I have found Nirvana in Maryland or at least, a really close second to my wonderful California nail technician!! I also found a website for this place: Robert Andrew's Salon & Day Spa. Jennifer is my nail technician and she's great! She did a "Forever French" acrylic set of nails today and, believe me when I tell you that I am a happy camper!!
Next!!
When I got home from the salon, we went on another adventure. The Blazer has gotten weirder and weirder since we've been here. I don't know-- I think it is just intended to be a California vehicle. Anyway, we went to the Hyundai dealership where we bought the Santa Fe a few weeks ago and bought an Elantra GT. Nice car and, since we already had two car payments, there's no difference in our budget. We do, however, get a break on not having to pay for repairs anymore since both vehicles are now under warranty which includes free oil changes, etc. for ten years.
Yeesh!! I think that's about it for now-- we've bought enough stuff. On to saving for a house!! That's next year, after the lease runs out and we've got time to shop for one! I think that's something that we'll be able to make time to find though, ya know?
Better?
It appears that the source of my headache problems has been related to sinus problems. We stopped at Costco on our way back home this afternoon and I picked up some Drixoral. I took one when we got home and, I've noticed, that my headache seems to be just about gone. That's nice, let me tell you!! Hopefully, it stays away!
*****
While this is short, it is newsy, right? Tomorrow its on to the garage to touch and sort through the boxes-- shelves to put up and crafts stuff to find, especially if I think I'm going to have time to make Christmas ornaments this year (I haven't decided on that one yet so bear with me).Hope you have a great evening and night!!
Friday, September 27, 2002More of the Same
I'll bet you can guess what I'm talking about, eh? Yes, "it" is still here. The bad news is that my TSH was at 1.15 which is not good considering it was at .3 in April. Yes, that means its going up or it means that it was up because I hadn't had breakfast and my meds. Yes, that is a bad way to judge things, isn't it? Oh, well-- We are going to keep an eye on it to see if it goes higher or not. Another blood test is scheduled for November so we'll see what happens then and no, I (very emphatically) will not be doing a fasting blood test.
Not a Good Week
But it is a finished week and I'm glad of it. One of our co-workers left the company last week. Her absence is noticed at quarter end, let me tell ya, not to mention her person being missed. Then, one of our co-workers lost a grandparent to a massive heart attack and stroke. She had been in good health up to that but, that was it.
The good news is that Judy's sister came through her surgery fine today-- really good news, let me tell ya! Judy will be taking a week and a half or so off starting Wednesday of next week-- she needs the rest, let me tell you!! She's been going great guns since my transfer and the other negotiator was hired with no time off since May!! Covering for and training people can be tough and strenuous work but she has weathered it well. I'll be glad when she gets to get some rest though-- I won't feel like we're picking on her so much if she gets some much needed time out of the office.
Exciting Plans Tomorrow
More in the works but, among other things, I'm trying a new nail place tomorrow. Its actually the same place that I got my hair done at a few weeks ago-- I wish this place had a website. The salon and spa are fantastic-- I wish I could take pictures!! I'll be glad to get my acryllics put on correctly for a change-- I'm sure that this place will do it, too. Just a feeling . . .
Anyway, more tomorrow night as time permits.
Have a nice evening and night and morning, afternoon and tomorrow night, too, okay? Okay!!
Thursday, September 26, 2002No Post
Per se, anyway. I've managed to lessen my headache by working on some quilting tonight. The binding is now on "Just Clowning Around" and I'm doing the ciphering to figure out that last quilting step that I want to do on it. Then, its on to "Baskets Full of Posies"!!
More tomorrow night, I promise-- its just that if this is helping, I have to go with it, ya know? Thanks!!
Have a nice night!
Wednesday, September 25, 2002Its About Time!!
Last year, on September 28, we sold some software to a company. Today, we signed the contract!! Yes, it was a year in coming but the worst part? Our agreements are for a one year term, beginning on the date of shipment of the software. That means that their contract expires on Saturday!! Yes, we've already modified the agreement to be a two year agreement but not without a lot of hassle!!
Headache is Better . . .
For the most part, my headache is gone-- I still feel it if I tilt my head one way or the other but, if I hold it straight up, I don't feel it at all. Having the light for my desk blasting into my eyes doesn't help, let me tell ya [click]-- ahhh, that's better.
Sally and I went for a walk which I think relieved some of the stress that may have been egging me on but I felt a little nauseated during the day today as well. All of that is brought on by that headache so I'm not pleased about having gotten it in the first place.

I've got to "balance" the checkbook and write out some bills. The local utilities are still not coming at the correct time of the month so I end up writing checks three times during the month instead of twice. I think I'm going to generate the rent check early and then, that will eliminate that problem. So, I'm off to do the bookkeeping!!Have a nice night!

Update at 10:07pmCommiseration
That's what I'm looking for: someone to commiserate with me on my "fun morning plan". I've got a blood test with my new doctor; he wants to check my TSH to see if it is where it was last time or if its higher or lower. So, for the first time since I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem, he wants me to be fasting for 12 hours. You know what that means, don't you? No coffee, no bagel, no morning routine-- no NOTHING this morning. No, I'm not a happy camper-- at all!! We need to hope that this turns up something new or I won't think its worth it for the next time!! I've got three hours to kill (pardon the expression) until I can have coffee. This is not going to be a good morning!!
Desk Cleaning . . . Again
Because my desk is the depository of the "stuff to be filed", it becomes messy quite easily. Even when we had our guests over last weekend, I had a stack of stuff in the "To Be Filed" pile on the corner of my desk. Once again, I have filed everything and put everything in its place. How long will this last? Until this afternoon when the mail arrives but, at least I try!!
Have a nice day and I'll catch you with more later . . .
None!!! When I got to the doctor's office today for the blood test, I found out that for a TSH profile, I did not need to be fasting. The office staff tells people that just so they catch the ones who are supposed to be fasting. If they catch the ones that are supposed to be fasting, they don't have to re-schedule appointments because the people didn't fast. Excuse me? I did not have to disrupt my morning routine? I did not have to have a headache that has lasted me ALLLLLLLLL day?????? Oh, yeah, I'm more than a little ticked, needless to say. The phlebotomist told me that the next time that I come in for a TSH screen if they tell me to fast, just nod and tell them that I won't eat/drink after 9pm and then, go ahead and eat after 9pm (and breakfast in the morning) afterall.
I have had a screaming headache all day because of not being able to eat my breakfast until 9:45am-- I am quite perturbed by their "cautionary tactic", actually. I'm supposed to get the results on Friday so we'll see how they react to whatever my test comes out to: if I get a number or the "normal parameters" crap. That'll be the telling trait of this office and whether I will be dealing with them in the future.
*****
Enough of that however-- I'm off to bed a bit early tonight. I'm still dealing with the headache (thank you very much!) so I'm just hoping I can get rid of it before tomorrow!
Have a nice evening and/or night!
Monday, September 23, 2002Can't Resist
I've got to relate one conversation with a customer that took place today. She and I have been negotiating for some time and are getting down to the fine details ("Shouldn't there be a comma here?" or "I took out that semi-colon and made it a period.") of completing the contract. She (we'll call her "Donna") called and said, "I've been thinking about this warranty. You say that you warrant to the documentation for 90 days. Why only 90 days? Don't you stand behind your products?" and before I could answer, she continued: "I mean, we have the same warranty for our software but, I guess I don't understand why we all limit the length of the warranty. If our products are that good, we should warrant them forever."
Oh, yeesh!!
Among other things, I simply stated: "Donna, you are way over-thinking this thing!" She dropped it at that point agreeing that we had lives to get on with and the document is being signed today.
Rate My Pooch
My friend, Pat (from California), wrote and sent me a URL the other day. Being the proud Mommy that I am, I had to take advantage of it, don'tcha know? Go and "vote" for our Sally, okay? She's such a cutie!!
Saturday & Night
I didn't go into a lot of detail about Saturday and Saturday night yesterday because, frankly, I was exhausted!! During the day, we cleaned (Brian did the lion's share of that, I must admit) and got ready for the dinner. I marinated the salmon filets and chopped vegetables for the stir-fry and salad. The dessert (which Brian will show you a picture of soon, I'm sure) was to die for and, thankfully, we didn't make that, too!
I tried to rest my knee as much as possible but there was always something else to do-- I finally did make myself lay down for about a half hour at around 3 but soon, we had to get going for our company's arrival.
Cheryl and Larry arrived first, followed closely by Judy and Jim. Brian gave the "Nickle (or Nickel, if it is your preference) Tour" while I prepared beverages for all. Sally walked around hoping for more pets which she, of course, got plenty of while all of us were talking. (It is so easy to absent-mindedly pet a warm, furry creature while involved in conversation!) We talked for a bit and then, Brian and I set about finishing up the preparations: he to the salmon and the grill and me to the stove for the stir-fry vegetables. They came out perfectly seared but not soggy-- too good and the salmon-- melt-in-your-mouth good!! Nummy!!
After dinner, Judy and Jim left first and Cheryl and Larry stayed around to talk for awhile. That was nice for me because it is important that I know who my husband is working for and for them to know me-- we're a big part of Brian's life so that knowledge makes it easier to work for both sides of his brain (home vs. work).
When Cheryl and Larry left, Brian and I did the dishes after filling the dishwasher to capacity. We were finished with everything by about 11:30 but almost a bit too wound up to sleep. I'm pretty sure it was after 12:30 before he shut off his reading light!! (YAWWWNNNNN!!!!!)
Not all there yet . . .
Sunday morning, we awoke and about an hour later, I was ready for a nap. I didn't take one and, in fact, didn't take one all day but I sure felt like I could've!! At around 10:15 or so, I took off for Laurel to find a fabric store; I found it but I won't go back. I usually like the chain but I don't like the location on this one and I don't like the staff. There's another one about 3 miles farther north that I'll drive to because its worth the distance traveled.
I picked up the fabric that I'm going to use for the swags in the living room. I sure hope my idea works-- I've got 14 yards of fabric!! Of course, that's enough for a couple of throw pillows, too, I hope.
I watched "We Were Soldiers" later in the afternoon-- poignant and thoughtful. That was our weekend-- next weekend, being in the middle of the quarter-close will be uneventful. Hopefully the next weekend we'll be able to start seeing some things around the area-- how much longer can we put this off!! (That's a rhetorical question, dear!!)
Anyway, that's it for me-- its been a long day. Have a great evening and night!
