Good Girl!!
Sally's been given a GOOD progress report!! The vet is extremely pleased with the progress that she made this past week. He doesn't need to see her for another two months (which is also a good sign!). There are some new things that we have to give her as pills in the morning-- her line-up is starting to look like mine-- but that's to be expected with an older dog.
She was really sweet at the vet's office; once we got put into a room, she realized where she was and tried to turn around to leave immediately. That didn't work, needless to say so, while Brian had her on the leash, she leaned into/on me. The tech then tried to take her for a blood test. Nope, she was going to have no part of leaving Mommy and Daddy!!! I asked them to bring the stuff in and do the draw there and Sally obligingly laid down for them to take the necessary fluids. Then all was well with the world again. Yes, she is a little attached to us-- as much as we are to her!!
Anyway, upon returning home, Brian took her for a walk and she was happy to be able to go-- it has been a long time. They were only gone for about 10 minutes but that's what she needs: lots of little walks to be built into longer and longer ones. She had a smile on her face when she got back, that much I know.
Other than that . . .
My day has been sewing or sewing-related. No huge surprise, I suppose. I've finished the quilting part of Pat's quilt so now I have to put the binding on and do the hand-sewing. That, too, should not take that long but with the way my schedule's been lately? Yeah, I know!!
Anyway, I'm going to work on some clothes that I started a few weeks ago. I've got some other fabric I haven't even cut into yet! Still too much to do but I am enjoying being this busy!!
Thanks again for your well wishes for Sally-- they've obviously paid off for her! Also, thanks for stopping by and as always, have a great evening!
Friday, May 2, 2003Not A Good Start
On Monday, when I went to physical therapy, Amy said she didn't feel well. Today when I called to cancel my appointment, I found out that she was out sick on Wednesday. Hmm, I think I know why-- I caught what she had!! Man, I felt really lousy this morning!! I came home from work and slept for an hour, got up and did some work and then, took another nap this afternoon. I'm feeling better now but not great yet-- hopefully tomorrow that'll come.
Sally Update
We're going to be getting Sally to a follow-up appointment tomorrow. I think that her vet is going to be pleased-- she's done really well this week. She can climb up the stairs pretty much on her own-- she likes to know we're there but that's about it. For the trip down, Brian's gotta help her because she doesn't control herself well. Its entirely possible that she lost more hearing and at least part of her vision in this stroke-- she doesn't seem to have very good depth perception. Tonight the three of us had a cuddle on the livingroom floor. She liked that a lot!! Both of us scratching and petting her at the same time-- definitely brought a smile to her face!!
More of the same . . .
Nothing major for weekend plans for me. I'm going to try to finish a few more of the new clothes that I started for myself a few weeks ago. I hope to get at least one of the pants and a skirt finished and ready to wear. The Kittermans will be stopping by at some point-- Allex wants a few more tops made which I'll enjoy working on for her.
Perhaps I'll get to work with the software at some point, too?? You never know!!
Take care of yourselves and have a great evening!
Thursday, May Day, 2003That's About Right
I'm tired and drained-- and to think, a few weeks ago, I would've had another four hours to put in!! Yeesh, how did I ever manage that??? Ah, well, at least there's always napping.
Yes, I had a nap when I got home from work today and then Katy's dad came to pick up the dress and now, I'm going to try to figure out this software program. Yep, you would think it wasn't that hard but, then again, its Thursday.
More later if I succeed-- have a great evening!
Wednesday, April 30, 2003Another One!!
Yep, there it goes-- the fourth one this year, too!! Yep, that's the fourth month of this "new" year that has managed to excape us. Time is going way too fast-- why is that? Yes, I do remember a time when, no matter how much I tried to push it, Christmases and Fridays seemed like they would never come. Man-o-man, has that ever changed, eh?
Yesterday . . .
We had a busy day at the office and then we left to take Joyce to Annapolis and a little touristy stuff. We had dinner at the Treaty of Paris and a nice stroll back to our car. We laughed a lot and talked a lot of business. It is/was certainly fun to have her around for awhile.
Tomorrow, she and Lee are going to go to my spa while Judy and I work-- it was too short of notice to get appointments at good times for all of us so we'll sacrifice this time. Of course, we'll make sure that we get two services the next time that Joyce comes into town!!
More of the Same
Today was busy again and ended with a doctor appointment in Annapolis. I have found that I find myself wandering that way more and more for medical needs. I don't know why they have such good facilities but, I'm glad that they do just the same.
Well, I'm pretty sure that Sally needs a good snuggle so I'm going to go take care of that for her. She's doing marvelously well, by the way!! She does The Happy Dance whenever I come home from work and is attentative the rest of the night, too. Sally is definitely getting better!!
Thanks for stopping by and take care-- Have a good evening!

Everything's Okay . . .
. . . the director of our department (Joyce) is in town so it was a late night last night. Hopefully not tonight though and I'll get something up about Sally's progress-- Yes, there is progress!!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a good . . . day?
Monday, April 28, 2003Major Improvement!!!
When I came home from work today, I unlocked the door and saw Sally leap off the sofa to come to me. Then, the next thing I know, she's back in the livingroom doing "The Happy Dance"!!! I couldn't believe it!!! The Happy Dance is what we call Sally's special way of saying "I'm soooo glad you're home-- I missed you all day . . . sorta . . . between naps." She hasn't done it since she came home from the hospital and there were a couple of times when she would've ordinarily done it, like when we went to the show on Saturday night or when we get home from the grocery store (no, we don't have to be gone a long time).
After all the wiggling stopped (!), I noticed that she wasn't walking as difficultly as yesterday or Saturday-- she was walking a lot better!!! Tonight, she followed whoever had food in their hands, just like the "Good Ol' Days", too! There are just signs when you know things are getting back to normal-- cool, huh?
I don't know if it was all of the rest that she got today or what but, our Sally is definitely coming back!!!
The Farmer in the Raised-Bed-Boxes
Tonight, after work and physical therapy, I planted the bush beans (no support system needed) and the scallions; Brian will plant the yellow squash tomorrow. I've got three rows of "early" green beans and three rows of regular bush beans. Should be fun to see how they all come out, eh?
And Other Hobbies . . .
I also finished the hand sewing on the little girl's dress tonight. Her father will be coming to get it on Wednesday night and, since I won't be home tomorrow evening, I wanted to finish it up tonight for obvious reasons. I am behind on posting pictures to my sister's website and, there are already updates that I want to make to my other website.
Nary a dull moment around here, eh?
*****
Thanks again to all of you who have written asking about Sally-- she's such a dear little dogter to us and we're touched at the out-pouring of concern. I'm gong to see about getting some of the web work done-- take care of yourselves and have a GREAT evening!
