Archive of Marcia's Musings August 25-31, 2003I Know, I Know!!
I've been remiss in posting BUT, you have to look at it from my point of view: I am now, officially, bored out of my mind!!! If I had had anything exciting to tell you about, I would've posted so now you know how my life has been for the last week, eh?
You want details? If I can remember them, I'll tell you now . . . I can't remember Thursday. No clue what I did at all. Hmm, that must be the day that I worked on some little "gifts" for my sisters and sister-in-law. That's probably what I did. On Friday, I went to lunch with Judy and Lee and after that, I went to the store in Columbia to talk to the manager but she took Friday off so that didn't work.
Saturday, while Brian cleaned the house, I worked on the above-mentioned gifts some more and finished them and on Sunday, I went with him to do the grocery and warehouse store runs. I only made it through the warehouse store but, at least I tried. I waited for him in the car at the grocery store, with the air conditioning running-- I remember it was HOT in the car!!
Monday: I had two doctor appointments in the morning and in the afternoon, I piddled around with sewing some stuff-- for me!! Yesterday, was the "big" day for me though: I went to Great Falls, Virginia with one of the women from the quilt guild. I wanted to find the border fabric that they had used for the raffle quilt that I won so that, eventually, I could make curtains for that room. (I probably won't make the curtains until we buy a house but at least I've got enough fabric to do so when we're ready.) We also made a stop at G Street Fabrics which, I discovered, was someplace that I shouldn't go to EVER again or at least, not without Brian to question my every inkling of fabric that I think I need. What fun! I did find some stuff that I needed for a quilt project that I have so I bought that and we came on home.
It was a little after 2pm when we got home and Marion departed-- I'll see her tonight at the Quilt Guild meeting-- and I layed down shortly thereafter for my nap. I set the alarm but didn't need it because Brian called to tell me that he was coming home early because of the weather. When we hung up, I heard a LOUD clap of thunder and the electricity went out and stayed out for 6 hours.
Please note: If you've sent me any email from 6pmEST until 6amEST, please re-send it to me since it was probably blocked.
Yeesh!! The power sure goes out a lot here-- more than it did when we were in California, including the rolling black outs!!
Anyway, I had a nail appointment (no, I didn't get the gels-- just a manicure/pedicure) so I went to that and Brian and Sally fumbled through while I was gone. I stopped at one of three restaurants in town that had power, along with about 50 of my neighbors (at any given time) and nearly an hour later, I was home with dinner for Brian and me. What a line!! Everyone was really patient though so that helped.
Anyway, I'm doing laundry and more sewing today-- I'll take pictures of stuff as I finish it, don't worry!
Thanks for being patient with me. Next week I'll start working part-time from home and then I'll have something to say on a consistent basis!
Thanks for stopping by, take care and, if I don't talk to you until next week, have a great weekend!
