Archive of Marcia's Musings December 15-21, 2003Bitter Cold
But it has been a nice weekend. Wonderful dinner and fun last night at the Mills' house-- cute doggies, too!! Brian's gotten lots of errands and chores done and I was able to get to some sewing-- finally!
Other than that, its just cold without snow.
Bummer!
Oh, well, have a good night and I'll catch you tomorrow evening!
Friday, December 19, 2003Its a WEEKEND!!!!
Yeah!!! And are we ever ready for it!!! Tomorrow only has one firm event and that's dinner at one of Brian's co-worker's house. It'll be fun to meet them since I've been hearing about them and talking with them for over a year.
I've got a flower-arranging project to do as well as finishing the wall-hanging. I've got some ideas that'll hopefully turn out nice for this wall-hanging.
Rest . . . that'll be high on my priority list and then, we have to get our guest room ready since Brian's brother may be here next week for a visit. That's not too bad considering its an oddly weird work-week next week. I think we'll survive that, don't you? Sure!!
Well, while this is short-- sorry about that-- I'm going to sign off so I can spend some time vegging.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!
Thursday, December 18, 2003Progress is Made!!!
I started a wall-hanging for my office about 8 months ago--tonight, I just about finished it!! I've got the binding to sew on (and down) and then, I've got to find what I need to hang it. That should be interesting, to say the least. I'd like to find a branch with leaves-- that would be the most perfect hanger but, I don't know how successful I'm going to be. That however, is why Al Gore invented the internet-- so you can find the oddball thing (Did Howard Dean help him invent it?).
Other than that . . .
Its really sad when its a week to Christmas and there's nothing going on . . . sad reflection on our life, eh? Oh, well, as usual, on the weekend it will liven up around here so that'll be fun!!
Thanks for stopping by-- sorry so short-- have a Great Evening!
Wednesday, December 17, 2003It Won't Happen!!
I'll never get caught up on stuff!! Okay, there's that word-- never-- that I swore I wouldn't say anymore. BUT, I keep trying and I just can't get caught up on everything. Its really frustrating, ya know? I'll either lose interest or energy by the time that something needs to be worked on (obviously, these are things other than sewing) so it doesn't get finished! Oh, well, maybe I need to re-set my expectations. I'm sure my friend, Pat, would agree-- she's always telling me that I push too hard. This from the woman who pushes WAYYY too much!! ;>)
COLD!!!!!!!!
For whatever reason, our offices were extremely cold today. At 2:30, I finally gave up and started the trek home. Of course, the fact that it was snowing made that seem like a more than reasonable thing to do. I stopped by the Center on my way and got gas and then, finally made it home.
Sally didn't feel well last night-- apparently, it was a touch of the flu . . . no, you don't want to ask for details.
Anyway, when I went to log onto my email, my VPN connection to the office wasn't working-- not good. I spent the next hour downloading the programs so that I could re-install all of them. Brian came up to help with that-- thank goodness I'm married to a geek!! An hour later, I was on-line on the VPN and able to move a lot faster. The snow may keep up through the night and, if it does, I'm prepared-- I'll just end up working from home again.
Ah, yes, it is definitely beginning to look a lot like the end-o-quarter madness around here!!
Finally!!
Here are a couple of pictures that I've been meaning to put up: the first, on the left, is the poinsettia that my sister has once again sent to us for Christmas. She always finds great florists-- we get the most beautiful deep read poinsettias and this year is one of the best! The second picture on the right is our Christmas tree-- there may be more of them coming but for right now, this is all I have time to put up here.
*****
I'm outta here-- maybe I can work on something meaningful tonight, eh? Sure, you can hope-- its free. Thanks for stopping by and bearing with me-- have a great evening!!
Tuesday, December 16, 2003Busy Is as Busy Does
It seems I never have any time for myself!! Last night I spent running around doing errands and then, although I didn't eat right, I ate my dinner late. I didn't eat right because I didn't have any protein-- I just had a salad. Obviously, that's on plan!
Tonight, I was going to bicycle but then I had to bake some apples and then bake my fish for dinner and then I had to feed the dogs and then . . . there's no time!!
Okay, that said, I made cookies for Brian on Sunday-- mini M&Ms with red and green sprinkles. I followed the chocolate chip recipe but (are you sittin' down???) I didn't snitch any dough or crumbs or M&Ms or ANYTHING!!! I was soooo good, its almost scary and I'm ready to find the pod to be rejoined!! Okay, so now, on the second day of seeing this box of cookies laying around, it is getting tough but I asked Brian to bring it upstairs and so he did. Whew!! That'll make it easier on me!!
I'm sure there's more that's been happening but, frankly, I don't remember it! Maybe I can slow down tomorrow, eh? I've got some pictures to post and Sally told me that she wants to teach Lucy how to use the keyboard so she can have a website, too. Kids!!
Thanks for stopping by-- I do appreciate it! Have a good evening!
