What IS Your Password, Ma'am??

That was the first thing said to me this morning when I was bleary-eyed and trying to turn off the alarm.  The security system was going off at 1:38am, thank you very much, which is why the guy from our security service was calling.  (Well, you can't say they aren't on the job!!)  I gave him the password and he told me that there appeared to be a break-in in the basement.  Brian, being the fiercer of the two of us, went down to check while I stayed on the line.

Unfortunately, the line disconnected but he called back to finish his discussion.  It turns out that it was another battery that had gone or was going out.  At $12 _*EACH*_ you'd think they could last twenty years or so but Nooooo-- only five or six!!!

My eyes are still bleary but Brian had to go to work so I might as well get my day started.

Have a good one until later . . .

Taste of Humility

Ever since the other day when I took Lucy to the vet's office, she has been Little Miss Uppity.  In some cases, literally-- attempting to "mount" both me and Sally at different times and in different ways.  Now, when you consider that she is a girl doggie, she isn't very practiced at it but, she is only second-in-command when it comes to four-legged people in this house soooo, we are trying to . . . re-train her, shall we say?

As a result, I took Sally with me today when I ran a couple of errands.  Lucy didn't like it one bit, either!  She was absolutely panicked when I put Sally's leash on and tried to escape out the door but I grabbed her and threw her back into the house.  Not a happy doggie, at all!!  She seems a bit more humble but less obedient in the long run today, taking her time when going out for potty breaks.  Kids!!

Sauce is a Simmerin'

The laundry is done and the sauce is simmering on a nice boil . . . there are times when I just can't get the stove to go low enough.  We have one of those flat cook-top stoves and it has several burner controls for each burner so it is better than it was earlier.  I also used the washer downstairs for the sheets and towels which I've never done before-- it works pretty well which is good to know.

Gotta go stir the sauce . . . have a great evening and a Merry Christmas Eve!!!

Technicalities

Technically . . . I'm finished with work until Friday.  In reality?  Who knows . . . if a sales rep needs me tomorrow, he's to call me on either my home phone number (yes, they have it) or my cell phone (which I need to leave turned on).  If needed, I will serve.  If I serve, I get compensatory time off at a later date.  Oh, boy-- who's going to keep track?

Fun Afoot

Well, with that in mind, while I have a fair number of chores and cooking to do tomorrow, I do plan to have fun for the next few days (with the exception of Friday, since I once again have to work).  That includes working on some designs that I've been trying to run for a quilted wall-hanging for another someone I know and working on the flower arrangement that I need to complete a wall-hanging for myself.  More on that as things progress . . .

Cooking Italian

Many, many years ago, when I was living in Dallas, I worked with a woman who was married to a New York Italian.  David, her husband, taught me to make a sauce for lasagne, pasta, etc., that is to die for!!  That's what I'm going to make for Thursday's contribution to the get-together at Lee & Jim's house.  Something with my sauce since I always make enough for an army-- I'll start by serving it to an army and we'll see where we ended up after that is finished.

In my sauce, I have mass quantities of vegetables which tends to expand it and make it worthy of being a meal-in-itself.  This time, I'll also be using fresh tomatoes and spices so it should be particularly wonderful!!

Should be a busy but fun day for me-- hope yours is the same!!  Have a great one!

Early Start, Long Day!

Well, let's see: I had to take Lucy to the vet's this morning, bright-n-early, so that she could get her teeth cleaned-- thankfully, there's no more dogbreath!!!!!!  Wow, that was really nasty stuff-- she coulda peeled paint with her breath!!!

Anyway, then I went on to work, and there, I worked, of course and then, I left work and went to the City of Bowie to make Lucy "legal".  I picked up her doggie license (which is really a county thing) and then went over to weigh in and then, went back to the vet's.  I made a couple of stops in stores between the weigh-in and the vet's but it was mostly just to see what was on sale.

When I got to the vet's Lucy was ready and very cuddly-- now we know what "sedation dentistry" is really about!  Her "hot spot" has been cured and there is no fungal problem.  She has started her lyme disease vaccination because she needs to do it-- there was a tick on her last week!!

When she and I left there, we had to stop at the grocery store for the things I forgot to get yesterday (of course-- I can't just go to the grocery store and have everything I need!!). I also had to drop off a dress at a dry cleaners next to the grocery store-- hopefully, they don't screw it up!!  Anyway, I picked up the things that were needed and then, finally, went home.  Three trips (even with Brian's help) and I finally had everything in the house!  Of course, I still needed to pull into the garage but that only took two tries-- Yikes!!

A half hour later and the bags were emptied and the results of Lucy's vet trip were discussed-- I was exhausted!!  (I still am, if the truth be known!)

Way too early a start on the day and way toooo much to do in that day!

Yowza!!!  I'm off to bed early tonight, so thanks for stopping by and have a great evening/night!!
