Well, I was Gonna

I really meant to come back here yesterday; I actually almost did make it back but then I got kidnapped by my imagination and well, that was all that I could do.

Let me tell you about my day  . . . first of all, I stopped at the shipping store to send out the Christmas boxes and pick up stamps for our Christmas cards (no, they aren't sent yet!).  Then, I decided to explore Greenbelt Road more . . . I'd never been up that way before and it looked like there were retail businesses.  Quite often, where there are retail businesses, there are fabric stores so . . . well, you know me!!

I ventured on up the road and found a K-Mart and since I hadn't been in one in a long time and there weren't a lot of cars in the lot, I decided to do some wandering through the store.  I picked up a baking sheet for cookies and a heating pad-- the one we had died a week or so ago.  Then, I headed on up the road a piece and found myself connecting with the Baltimore Washington Parkway.  Pretty cool so I went North (toward Baltimore for those of you who may be completely geographically challenged to the area in which we live).

Since I was looking for a tray to carry my breakfast upstairs during the week, I decided to stop in at the Joann's that is located on 198.  I found a tray that was already painted in colors that match our new kitchen so, I was set.  Okay, yes-- a little bit of fabric jumped into my hands but it is part of what belongs with a collection that I'm going to use sooooo, it HAD to come with me.

After that, I headed home.  I wanted to try to make low-carb, low-calorie cookies for me.  Sooo, I started that process getting all of the ingredients in the bowl and went to turn on the mixer and . . . nothing!  Hmm, I hadn't tried to use that plug before so it was obviously a non-working plug, right?  Well, I took the bowl and mixer across the kitchen to another plug and the mixer didn't work there either.  In fact, it wouldn't start but it did smell funny.

Hmmm, where was that K-Mart again?  Yep, you guessed it, I went back out and bought a new hand-mixer ($10.49 plus tax) and came home to finish the cookies.  I got them done about 2pm but hadn't had lunch yet sooo, I ate lunch (cucumber and balsamic vinegar-- another take-off express weekend, don'tcha know?).

That was followed by a nap and when I woke up, I watched a movie until Brian came home (Conspiracy Theory) and last night, he and I watched Terminator 3 which wasn't too bad, all things considered.

Change of Plans

I was going to go to the grocery store and warehouse store since Brian has to work but we're going to put that off until later since he has to go to work and there's a bit of snow on the ground again.  We'll go out later to do those chores and, in the meantime, I'll be working with something else I bought at the store yesterday: graph paper for making up quilts and quilt blocks.  Boy, I didn't realize how much I have been wanting this stuff!! I'm making a wall-hanging for one of my sisters which is requiring some block design.  Its really pretty cool stuff but I can't show you until she has the wall-hanging soooo, you'll just have to wait!

I am going to try to make cookies for Brian today but I'm going to make a different one than I had originally planned.  Hopefully, that'll work for him-- since there's chocolate involved, I'm pretty sure he'll be happy!

Anyway, that's all for now-- again, maybe more later.

Take care and have a great day!!

Anniversaries

November 30 and December 12 are sad days for me.  Those are the days on which my Mom and Dad passed away.  There isn't a year that goes by that I don't think about that-- of course, I don't just think about that on the anniversaries of their deaths.  I think of them every day even though it has been seventeen years since my Mom's passed and yesterday marked twenty years that my Dad's been gone.

Everytime I think of them, I wish they were still here.  My life is so much different-- better-- than it was when they passed.  I want them to know that I'm happy, for the first time in my life.  I want them to know that I'm loved and in love for the first time in my life.

I want them to meet my husband and know him and love him like I know they would.  I want them to see our house and our dogs and laugh at their nicknames . . . my mother would adore Sally ("Baby Girl") and would just laugh at Lucy ("Little One").  My dad would think they were a bother and never admit that he was secretly seen petting and talking to them both.

My theory is that because I do think of them every day, they do see how I'm living and that I'm loved and in love and happy.  It works for me so I'm going to go with that one.

Things To Do

I've been assigned the task of moving three large boxes to my truck and from my truck to the UPS store to get shipped to various and sundry places.  I'd like to have time to sew today too but I'm not so sure about that one.

I'd better get to it though-- maybe more later.  Have a good day.

Three's Actually 12

Ebony has joined our merry household this evening.  He's here for a few days while Jim and Lee take a much-deserved weekend away.  Sooo, that means it is really crowded around here and fairly difficult to walk, sit or stand.  Of course, Lucy has to protect me from all of them which doesn't help any but, who's going to protect me from Lucy?!?!?

Lucy's Next Trip to the Vet

Unfortunately, ever since Monday night, Lucy has been having an intermittent cough that sounds really weird.  Knowing that she came from the kennels provided to the rescue group, I became wary so I called the vet's office to ask about it.  If it were only one instance of this cough, I wouldn't worry but she has done it several times.

They suggested that it was probably kennel cough and that I needed to bring her in-- NOW.  That's not something that you can have other dogs exposed to so they try to do these visits when there are no other dogs or cats around.  (Yes, I know what you're thinking-- I'll get to that in a minute.)

I brought her in and sure enough, she's got kennel cough.  Oh, well, what about the two dogs she exposed?  (Sally and Ebony to be precise.)  Well, they've both had their bordatella shots so that helps.  We just have to keep an eye on them and that's why, since he was exposed to her on Tuesday night, it doesn't matter that Ebony's staying with us for a few nights.  It actually minimizes the possible spread if he does catch since we've already got it in the house.

Lucy had had her bordatella shot but, it wasn't apparently until after she had already cought it.  Yeah, well-- she's ours and we're not giving her back.

This, after her teeth cleaning, that is, has got to be the last thing that can go wrong with her.  She's soooo young, I just can't believe she's not in good health especially since she looks like she is in good health.

Keep your fingers crossed!!

Once Again

I had a busy day which ends with, of course, my being tired.  I've got a little bit of quilt planning that I want to do but other than that, my night is pretty much shot out of pure exhaustion.

I do love December's busy-ness though!!

Okay, gotta go draft-- have a good evening!

I Love December!!!

Beside all of the usual fun stuff in December, I just love December because it is the busiest time of year . . . at my job!!!  Man, I was swamped today and, you know how I love to be swamped!!!

I really do so appreciate my job and my work a lot more when I'm busy.  Part of the reason that I'm busier is because I'm picking up more of Federal stuff.  I'll be signing up for some courses for February and March of next year which will really help with my government contracting knowledge.

You're Fogging My Kneecaps, Child!!!

Lucy has begun to be more and more acclimated to living here.  Last night we went to meet Ebony and his people and, while she enjoyed their pets, she kept coming back to us because she has already established that she knows we're her people.  Sally took the lead though in order for her to know that it was safe to go into their house.

The funny thing about Lucy is that she'll huff-n-puff her way around the kitchen when I get home at night and, of course, she's always a half-step away from me when she does it.  Needless to say, there's a lot of humidity around my knees these days!! ;>)

Yes, I'll get a page up for her soonish and, as well, I'll put up some pictures of the Christmas tree soon.  I think Brian took a picture of my sister's gift poinsettia, too-- another beautiful one this year!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening.

Long Day

Work is getting busier, needless to say-- as a result, I'm getting tired-er.  My region and the federal groups are heating up which is always a fun thing for me.

Unfortunately, it means I don't have very much in the way of energy when I get home and, again, the two-dog thing takes a lot out of ya.  This morning it took a full two hours to get them, Brian (well, his sandwich) and me ready for the day.  Yeesh!!

I'm exhausted before I walk out the door to go to work!!

Anyway, right now, there's only work and the two of them going on so its going to be a bit boring around here tonight.

Thanks for your patience, just the same. I appreciate your stopping by!  Have a great evening!

Bonding Time

Today, the girls and I spent the day going up-n-down the steps together and 2-1/2 hours at the vet.  Man, are we tired!!!

The going up and down the stairs wasn't intentional.  At first, every where that I went, Sally had to follow-- that sneaky new little dog might get my attention for a second if she didn't follow me and keep an eye on us!!  Then, Lucy decided that Sally and I were apparently having too much fun upstairs doing my office work-- at least, we must be because Sally keeps following me up.

SOOOO, they were both following me around all day-- I can't begin to tell you how many times I almost fell over a dog!!  Yeesh!!

Sally's physical was postponed until today because of the snow on Saturday but, it probably worked out better anyway.  This way, Dr. Jim got to meet Sally's little sister right away-- no delays in getting to know her!!  Sally is fit as a fiddle but does need her teeth cleaned eventually.  The upset tummy that she has every-other-week or so will just be dealt with as we've been doing-- not pushing her to eat and letting her get over it on her own.

Turns out Lucy's got an infection on her back that is curable and not a huge problem.  She's also got bad breath from  her teeth-- they probably haven't ever been cleaned!!!  SOOO, we've got her started on some medicine and an appointment set up for a teeth-cleaning in a couple of weeks.

We left the house at 3:08 and I didn't get home until 5:56-- I'm exhausted!!!

Its Monday so I've got my pills to sort out and sister to call later-- Hopefully I can stay awake!!

Have a good evening!
