Update at 7:45pmHappy Birthday, Karen!!
You've all heard that story before but, if not-- go back and read it now!! Thanks to all of you who continue to send birthday greetings to me-- that's really nice of you!
Sick
Yes, it is true: I have a sick sense of "cool". I love all of this snow!! I know, I know-- my siblings have now finished making arrangements for me to be checked into an asylum but they shouldn't rush to judgment. Brian and I both think its cool so they'd better get a room with a queen-sized bed!! Then, of course, there's Sally: she's taken to staying out a lot longer in the snow, exploring every inch of the back yard. Too funny!! She's gone from hating the snow the first time to enjoying it being out there. Truly sick!!
Progress Afoot
In between birthday phone calls last night, I continued work on the pillows that I finished this morning. We've got eight new pillows for the two futons. The old pillows have been piled in a corner for Miss Thing to use as her throne.
I'm about to start on the border for the quilt for Pat and then, finally the tablecloth for our kitchen. Yes, that's right: I'm finally going to make something for US!! I haven't done that yet so it should be fun to work on, too!
More later if things continue to progress as well throughout the day. Have a great one!
There is an amazing amount of snow out there tonight! Brian says we've gotten about 18" or more and I'll take his word for it since he's shoveled 100% of it off the driveway-- THREE times!!! Ya know . . . I was born-n-raised in Michigan so I'm sure that I've seen this kinda snow before but, I just can't remember the last time that I saw this much, all at once-- falling and falling and falling!
The Rest of The Story
Well, let's see: I called my sister in Brazil-- they're doing well. I finished 8 pillows and arranged them downstairs. I did mitred corners on the quilt for Pat-- that's something new for me, too!! I slept for a couple of hours and now, I'm going to go back and do some more sewing while it continues snowing . . . outside.
Amazing!!
Have a great afternoon, evening and night!
Saturday, February 15, 2003Happy Birthday to . . . ME!!
Yep, another year older and deeper in debt. Wait until next year-- after we buy a house!!! Brian and Sally have been sweet to me all day, allowing me the luxury of sewing to my little heart's content. So far, I've made about six pillows for the sofas and finished the pre-hand-quilting stuff on the projects that'll entertain me while I'm down after my surgery. The pillow-making isn't finished-- I've got a couple to stuff after I finish with the pre-made pillow forms.
We're having Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner with broccoli-- the chicken came from the wholesale place this morning so all Brian has to do is bake it. Should be nummy!! Then, a movie ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding"?) and a low-fat brownie with chocolate chips on top for my "birthday cake".
We were planning on playing it low key when we found out about the snow that's suppsed to be moving into the area. Its still nice just to be able to relax and nap and do whatever I want anyway.
Thanks for the birthday greetings-- All of my wishes have come true: I have the best husband and dogter in the world. What more could a girl ask for?
Have a great evening!
Friday, February 14, 2003Happy Valentine's Day!!
Hopefully everyone is having a happy and love-filled day!! Give that Special Someone in your life a hug-- I've done that for both my Special Someone and my Special Dogter. They are the best in the world, ya know? Gotta love 'em!!
An Ahhhh-Day
Yes, today was an "off-day" for me-- I didn't do any work at all. I didn't even check my email or my voicemail: that's why they call it a "Vacation Day". I'm really glad that I did this, too. I had my legs ripped again and then went and did a little shopping. After that, I came home and organized my fabric and, most importantly, took a nap!!
After my nap, I received a delivery from FedEx from Pat & Nathan-- thanks again, guys!! Then I headed out the door to go to a doctor appointment. We talked about my thyroid meds and other stuff and decided I'm going to get another check toward the end of March. He really wanted to do my pre-op physical but since it hasn't been a year since my last physical, there's no real reason for it. A "pre-op" physical isn't great but it is important for the surgeon to know me, too.
After returning from the doctor appointment, I finished up the laundry and did some sewing stuff. Tonight I'm going to do some stitching to get some hand-quilting projects ready for hand-quilting and then, I'm going to start the next project for the living room: Pillows!! I really dislike the pillows that we've currently got in our living room. We've had them a long time and I would like to see some new ones for the futons. Using the same fabric as the swags, it'll be a nice addition to the living room.
Speaking of which, I'd better get back to it-- lots to do this weekend!!
Have a great evening!
Thursday, February 13, 2003Good Reason
Really!! I had my sewing class last night and a dental appointment with a filling and a cleaning! Yeesh-- no fun! When I got back to Bowie around 3, I decided to go ahead and stop to get the extra water and propane that was suggested to me to get by my boss. Her husband is an expert in emergency planning and, with the higher threat these days, he's really concerned so it got her a little more than alarmed, passing on the information to me. That, of course, got me a little more alarmed and so the story goes. Oh, well, if nothing else, we've got some extra bottles of water and propane for when we decide to go camping.
Happy Friday!!
Yes, well today is a Friday for me anyway. It was nice having a four day work week, followed by a four day weekend and then, subsequently followed by a second four day work week. I should be really messed up by next weekend!!
Originally, I had taken the time off tomorrow because the Thompsons' were going to come up for a visit. Then, after that was postponed to another weekend, I decided to take the day off because I deserved it. As it turns out, I'll end up doing a leg waxing, doctor appointment and laundry so it won't be as restful as I'd like. Then again, with all of that done, that leaves me Saturday, Sunday and Monday to sew!!
Speaking of which, I think I'm going to go do some! Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Wednesday, February 12, 2003Sewing Class, etc.
Tuesday, February 11, 2003Thanks-- No Thanks!
Thanks to Brian's dentist appointment, we were all up early-- Sally didn't like it but she was back to her old self again and pretended to be cheery. I, on the other hand, am exhausted-- we didn't go to bed early enough for the amount of time we lost sleeping so I've very nearly had it already and its not even 8:30!!
Oh, well! I'll survive until Friday!!
Other News
On the other hand, the surgery date has been set up-- March 10. Yes, FOUR weeks away!! I would say that gives me plenty of time to get nervous but, I am not nervous for this surgery. I know what I will not feel after the surgery since I won't be having the lateral retinacular release done so I already know it'll be less pain than the last time. I just wish it could be over!!
I've got vitamins to set up-- if I don't screw it up-- so I'd better get to it.
More tomorrow or as time warrants. Have a great evening!
Monday, February 10, 2003Vacuum??
Well, I can't explain what happened to yesterday. I thought I'd posted but apparently not so. I hate when that happens!!
The Rest of the Story
Although initially disappointed with the way that the class schedule had been handled by this store, I am extremely impressed with their service. I brought the sewing machine in on Sunday morning and the representative and I sat down, plugged it in and tried to make it work. She double-checked everything that I'd done as far as threading the machine and the bobbin but, to no avail-- it truly is a manufacturing problem with the machine.
Instead of sending me on my merry way with a promise to fix my machine "someday", they sent me home with a loaner machine of the exact model that I bought. They didn't have any "fresh in the box" machines left of my model or they probably would've given me that machine. This technically is an easily fixable problem so I don't think it'll take long to get the machine back. I'll update you as I know more.
Doctor Update
The doctor hadn't returned my file to his main office as of today so, since their office was closed on Friday, I haven't been scheduled for surgery yet. Because the doctor said that he wanted to look at the MRI himself, I'm not concerned with that and will probably find out in the next day or two when the surgery will be scheduled. I'd like to get it done before March but I may not have any control over that time-frame.
Dental Week
Sally had her teeth cleaned today. She's pretty out of it still-- really dopey from the sedation that they gave her. This is our lucky week however since Brian has an appointment tomorrow (7am) and I have one for a filling and a cleaning on Wednesday. Such fun we have as a family, eh?
I'm pretty tired and tomorrow is an early day thanks to Brian's dentist appointment-- gotta get to bed.
Have a great evening and night!
