Oblivion is Melting
My mind is getting happy again-- I like knowing that everyone else is going to work tomorrow. It gives me such a warm feeling.
I've been having fun sewing (quilting) and crocheting-- yes, I have finally finished Faye's afghan!!! She'll be surprised, I'm sure. I only had three rows to finish but making myself sit down and finish them was the hard part. Doing laundry today, however, gave me the time to do that.
I was watching the Super Bowl until the time when 60 Minutes was supposed to come on but, then it didn't. I'm probably going to sew a little more before I finish up the laundry.
Oh, yes, the dinner at 701 Restaurant was wonderful last night. I had the best fish dish-- swiss chard with a rasperry sauce. Delish Fish!!! Good time and good company-- that's always fun.
Sorry so short but I've got some work to do . . . have a great evening!
Saturday, January 25, 2003Oblivion . . .
. . .still happening.
Friday, January 24, 2003Better, Thanks!
Thanks to everyone who wrote to me wishing me well-- I did manage to "get over" a lot of what hit me last night. I hate when something comes on that suddenly. Of course, I didn't stay home from work today-- not with this being a three day weekend for me! (Yes, you've got it!!! I'm a happy camper!!!)
Now my only ailment is my dry, red, cracked hands-- I feel like a commercial! Man, it is so cold out there that my hands just crack and are almost literally peeling the skin off!! Argh!! I haven't had chapped hands like this in forever-- and its hard to put lotion on when you're wearing wedding rings. For the first time ever, I've taken my rings off so that I can keep lotion on them overnight and probably through the day tomorrow. It is really ROUGH!!!
Weekend Plans
Tomorrow night, we've got dinner out with my co-workers: the director is buying us dinner out as a belated holiday gift which will be nice. We're going to the 701 Restaurant in the District-- we'll let you know how it turns out on Sunday. Other than that? Sewing, sewing and more sewing and, oh, yes-- sewing!!
Okay, laundry is in there too which means that crocheting will happen tomorrow-- yes, Faye, you will get your afghan . . . someday!! Because of my knee, I don't want to run up-n-down the stairs doing laundry so, while I'm doing the laundry, I'll stay downstairs and crochet. Maybe I'll get that afghan done this weekend-- finally!!
I've still got some work on this site and my sister's to do, too-- archiving needs to be set up for the current year. So much to do, so little time.
Oh, well-- it'll all get done. Have a great evening!
Thursday, January 23, 2003Not Doing Great Here
I must've eaten something that didn't agree with my stomach-- I'm not having a great night. My day was busy and full of activity but, after cooking and eating dinner, my stomach went south and hasn't returned.
I'm contemplating going to bed extremely early tonight as a result. Sorry so short but, I'm sure you understand.
I hope you have a better evening than I!!
Wednesday, January 22, 2003Once again . . .
We think we've got the problems with Netscrape 6.x/4.x fixed. That being the case, I should be able to update pages completely. In the meantime, if you're looking for last week's post, its here and I'll get the 2003 archive set up SOOOOOON now-- promise.
Oblivion is . . .
. . . slipping. By COB on Monday, it should be gone completely. I'm getting Monday off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, that'll be a relief!!!! I've got a three-day weekend coming up with no PTO time missing as a result. That'll be nice-- the alarm clock will go to Brian's side of the bed that morning, let me tell ya. The rest of the day'll be a continuation of the weekend. Sewing and napping-- the two essential elements of life.
Quilt Guild
Believe it or not, I've found a quilt guild here in Bowie. In fact, it has been meeting for years about a mile from our house!!! I was really surprised, needless to say. I attended my first meeting tonight and found it fun and informative so it'll be a nice break during the week. It only meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month but that's frequent enough for my tastes, thanks.
There's a quilt show in March and, once I know what's happening with my knee, I'll see about what I can do to help with that. I've already promised to make a smallish wall-quilt for the silent auction-- that should be fun.
Hats Off
Now that I've finished this much of the post, I can tell you that all has been resolved with Netscape. YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brian deserves much of the credit due to his tenacity to resolve the problems that I've been having-- thanks, Honey!!!
With that, however, I'm off-- I'm going to start some cutting of fabric, I think.
Have a great evening!!
Tuesday, January 21, 2003Not My Week
Nope, I checked-- its not my week to watch where my Monday went. I'm not sure whose turn it is but it isn't mine. Seriously, we went to dinner last night-- the guys for the Northeast and Southeast region got us negotiators gift certificates for Legal Seafood so Brian and I decided to use ours last night. Going to Baltimore isn't a big deal-- it doesn't seem like anything is very far away here. On the way back from Baltimore, we stopped at a mall in Glen Burnie to return a gift that was received broken. We exchanged it for one to be delivered and had a credit left over (everything's on sale after Christmas!!) so we got a George Foreman grill with the difference (okay and a little more of our money, too). Then, we came home, fed Sally, I called my sister and melted into that Oblivion thing, again.
Weary
I have figured out that I am just plain weary. I don't get a day off until February (not that I couldn't take one off but I don't have one scheduled) and I'm just tired. I need to have a day when I know that everyone else is working-- it makes a huge difference in attitude. I'm going to talk with Judy tomorrow and see what I can work out-- I need one (1) day. Just one . . .
Not a Snow Day
It was snowing as we arose this morning. It kept it up all morning and, by noon, I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get home because of the snow drifts. No, there weren't any-- ever-- but I still fear them. Having grown up in Michigan, I have a healthy respect for the snow and what it can do to the roads. As a result, I started out this morning going 60mph in a 65mph speed zone and everyone was passing me going a lot faster than I was going. It turns out that I'm too cautious in the snow and, as a result of that, I'm dangerous. Its not something I want to be but because I am concerned about drivers around me, I'm cautious about what they are doing and how they are doing it. I came home at noon because I thought the snow was going to keep going but, then it stopped and I felt silly for having panicked. I've gotta get some things straightened out about this so that I can drive to and from work without fearing what's going on around me. I'll work on that one.
In the meantime, there are some problems with the way that I'm writing and publishing in Netscape 4.x. Brian's going to check some stuff out tonight and we'll see how it goes from there.
Thanks for coming by and bearing with me and my Oblivion-- have a great evening!
