Working On It!!
Yep, I've been working on it really hard-- getting better, that is. I went into the store today and was there by 9:45. I ended up leaving at around 12:15 when the manager came in and heard me suffering through a cold. She told me that I should be at home and, in fact, said "Go home-- there's two of us, its okay." So I left. I came home and had some chicken soup. Then I had some more medicine and then I tried to sleep. Not possible but I kept "resting" (laying down and watching television-- I did nothing today!) and trying to sleep.
When the time came, I had more medicine and FINALLY, I slept-- thank goodness!! Then, I had dinner (more chicken soup) and more television and nothing exciting, let me tell ya-- man, I hate watching television!!
The whole time, my mind would wander and while I've got some great ideas for Christmas gifts and other things, I don't know that I'll be able to get to them for several months.
By the way, I won't be working Tuesday evening afterall-- again, in an effort to get rid of my cold, my manager said I didn't have to work since there were three people on shift that night, too. Thank goodness!!
I've got my vitamins and other pills to sort for the week ahead and then, I'm off to continue reading my new book (Mary Higgins Clark & Carol Higgins Clark, co-authored a mystery or two and I've got one of them).
Thanks for stopping by-- I appreciate your well wishes, as well. Have a good night!
Saturday, July 19, 2003Miss Me???
Well, I know Brian and Sally did-- and I missed them, too!!
Let me tell you about my trip (sans pictures, of course):
Monday: We (Judy, Lee & I) flew out of BWI and into Dallas. We all sat a row or two apart but had a nice flight anyway. I read my book voraciously-- I was completely hooked on "The Quilter's Legacy". Monday evening, after we arrived, I took the rental car that we were to share for the week, and met Pat & Nathan for dinner at Hunan Gourmet. We had a wonderful meal and good conversation, needless to say.
Tuesday: We attended meetings all day-- I learned a lot which is a good thing (since that was the point of the trip) and, after the meetings, Pat came over to my hotel where we had dinner.
Wednesday: I awoke at 4am with a sore throat; at 5am, I awoke with a SORE throat!!!! I went down to the vending machines and purchased some Advil Cold & Sinus which didn't do anything to break my fever. I went back to bed and slept until 8:20, quickly showering and dressing to make it to the meetings on time. I was there but obviously sick. Someone asked why I didn't stay in my room but I reminded them that it would be a "CLM" for me to not attend the meetings. When asked for clarification about CLM, "Career Limiting Move", the director leaned over to Judy and told her to tell me to go back to my room. I took the keys to the car, went to the grocery store, bought some medicine and went back to my room where I medicated myself and slept all day and all night.
Thursday: I awoke feeling better but not great; I decided if I got moving, I would be okay so I also decided to attend the planned activities for the day. We went to Half Moon Bay for lunch and then walked around downtown HMB for the afternoon. Lee and I returned to the hotel in the rental car; Judy went off with the rest of the group to have dinner at the Ritz Carlton. Brian's parents came to my hotel to pick me up for dinner; we went to Tarragon and had a wonderful time. It is so good to see them even if only for a few hours in each visit.
Friday: I flew back (Lee is flying back on Saturday and Judy is flying back on Sunday), miserable with a headcold and believe me, it is not pleasant to fly with stopped-up ears!! It is, in fact, quite painful but, the important part: I AM HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was really happy to see Brian and when we got home, Sally was really happy to see me! Last night, she wouldn't let me out of her sight and today, she's still following me around a lot, too.
Plans for the Day
I need to unpack and get myself organized for the short week ahead. I'm taking Wednesday and Thursday as vacation days so that I can get organized here at home, moving my clothes downstairs, etc. We'll probably run our errands today, too and Brian has already told me we're going out for Mexican tonight-- cool!! I've gotta work tomorrow (and Tuesday evening) and I open so it isn't going to be fun having to drag myself out of bed!
Well, I'd better get to it-- thanks for stopping by!! I appreciate the patronage and the emails-- take care and have a great day!!!
