Another Passing
In addition to another month passing, there's been another milemarker: I am now commissionable in my sewing machine sales!! It isn't very much but every little bit helps. I found out officially today that I am able to reply to people that I can help them with embroidery or sewing work outside of the job. I just can't do it on the job which is fine for me anyway-- I'd rather work on equipment that is familiar to me, i.e., my own.
Anyway, I fielded another phone call today from someone wanting some embroidery work done-- another name-- but hey, it pays for the software, ya know? ;>) That's always a good thing.
Other than that, it is Sunday night and I'm tired. The good news is that I don't have to work tomorrow night but the bad news is that I have physical therapy tomorrow night. Ah, well, it'll soon be over-- either that or I'll just be completed exhausted and it won't matter anyway.
Sorry for the short post but, as usual, thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
Saturday, March 29, 2003Errand Day
Because I'm always working on Sundays now, we've moved our errand-running to Saturday. That's fine but today we had a lot of stuff to cram into the time used for errands. First up, the embroidery woman came by the house. I had done some of the design before she came and then finished it up when she got her. Ran it through one time to make sure that it would play out right and then put it on the shirt that she wanted. Within about 15 minutes, she was done and I had a little scratch (not much) in my pocket. Pretty cool, huh? Yupper!!
Then, it was on to the errands: first up, the wholesale place where we stocked up on the usual. We've decided to drop our Costco membership since this place is so close to home and much better stocked than when we first were going there. Following that, we came home and got Sally for another blood test. This time, she had to be tested for liver and kidney functions as a result of being on Rimadyl for six months; she came out fine and we also got the much-needed HeartGuard for her heartworm prevention while we were there.
Once that was done, we brought her home and went back out for the grocery store run and then, finally, home for our afternoon nap. I slept for a little more than an hour and then had a warmed-up cup of coffee so that I could be conscious when Amy came over for the hanging. She arrived around 4 and I was finished with the hanging by 4:30; we chatted for a bit and she left around 5. I went upstairs after that and did some sewing which was followed by more serging. Yes, my three-piece outfit is finished!! Nice outfit, too, if I have to say so myself!!
From there, its been down hill-- some PBS television and HGTV. Now, at nearly 10:30, we're winding down for the night.
Hope you are, too-- have a great night and thanks for stopping by!!

Update at 9:30pmI am here . . .
. . . just really busy and I will post much, much more tonight.
Thanks for your patience. See you later-- have a good day!!
What has happened to me in the last three days? Well, I wouldn't blame you!! There are times when I wonder what happened to me and I was living in that time frame!!
Okay, so Tuesday was work as noted below and then there was Wednesday. After working at the negotiation gig all day, I went to physical therapy and had a strenuous work-out. Then, on my way home from there, I stopped and got Chinese take-out for us for dinner, came home long enough to scarf some of that down and then took off for the Guild meeting. My purpose there was two-fold: 1) to become a member and 2) to get the raffle quilt and pillows. I am now an official member of the Guild and the pillows and quilt are gorgeous!! They will be a beautiful addition to our already blue guest suite.
After the meeting, my physical therapist, Amy, came over for a fitting on her bridesmaid's dress. The problem was that she didn't have the appropriate under garments so, rather than hanging her and having it be wrong, we decided to wait until she bought the correct under garments. She called tonight and will be coming by tomorrow afternoon to get the proper fitting and determining the length of the hem on her dress. I think I'm going to use the rolled hem on the serger-- that's a more "invisible" hem than turning it to sew would be so I think it would be a better choice for invisibility's sake.
Thursday was more of the above . . . I went to the office and, after working there all day, I went on to the store. I sold another machine (my third all together since starting there) on Thursday evening-- to a fellow quilter so that was fun. Then I closed the store-- miserably. I didn't balance-- excuse me, I balanced-- the register didn't. It was off by a considerable sum, mostly cash but even after calling one of the people who has been training me, I wasn't able to figure out what the problem was so I ended up having to leave it and leave notes. I don't like that-- I believe in finishing a job right, even if I didn't make the mess to begin with, it shouldn't be left, undone.
While I was at the store on Thursday, I got a call from someone who wanted some embroidery done for a personal item. I can't do it at the store but I can do it at home so, she will be coming by tomorrow morning for a quick embroidery design. It would be handy to "make up" for some of the money that I've spent on this equipment and software of late.
New Developments
That leads me to a new development that's happening around here. I'm building something and will introduce you to it soon enough. Brian's been helping a bit and Sally's just been her adorable self, warming my toes as I type this post.
Other Reports
I got a report from my blood test last week, and the doctor apparently decided to skip the lecture about a fasting blood test. He did change some of my medication so we'll see how that goes, too.
On the Agenda
This weekend, Amy will be coming by as will the embroidery client. Some time will be spent in front of the computer and of course, the sewing machine and serger. I have to work on Sunday, pulling an 8-hour shift where I open and close by myself-- I can hardly wait. Hopefully the close will go better than the last time.
That's all for now-- thanks for your patience and tolerance. I also appreciate the patronage and the emails. Take care of yourselves and have a good evening and/or night!
Tuesday, March 25, 2003Remember Me?
Wish I did!! Obviously, this has been a busy two days since my last post. I'm less tired than I was last night which I think is a good sign. The second place is slow because . . . well, its retail and retail is slow on Monday and Tuesday nights.
I worked on my name-tag for the Guild and also on the quilt for the class that I'll be teaching in either April or May. I have to get someone to work on either Tuesday or Thursday night to cover the floor for me while I teach. That's the only "catch" and that's not going to be tough. I'm glad-- that's why I got into this in the first place so I'm glad that its getting together.
Other than that . . .
Physical therapy after work tomorrow night and then, on to the Guild meeting. Yes, another long night. Yes, this week is extraordinarily busy-- Yes, I hope it will stop soon and Yes, I have days scheduled as "OFF" from both jobs in April.
I won't state the obvious but I will shuffle off to bed-- now. Thanks for your patience and your patronage. Have a great evening!
