Sunday, October 26, 2003Been Busy
The past three days have been hectic as well as fun and full of activities-- mostly touristing and spending time with Brian's folks and packing. Lots of packing done and more to go, of course.
Should be a fun week-- thanks for your patience so far. Thankfully, we're almost finished!!
Hang in there and I'll be back here as I can-- take care and have a good evening!
Thursday, October 23, 2003Tonight's Update
Well, the process goes on and on and on. Tonight, instead of going to the new house, I did the laundry (4 loads) and packed the rest of the living room. Now the only thing left to pack is the kitchen and laundry area. Of course, I don't have my part of the bedroom quite finished but that won't take very long so I'm not too worried about it.
Brian went to the house tonight to finish up the carpets and he even got a bit more painting done-- that's a big help, too. Tomorrow and Saturday we'll have his folks back with us for the weekend; we'll get to hear about their adventures in Pennsylvania and Delaware, I'm sure. Then, on Sunday, regretably they leave for home and we'll put the finishing touches on the move.
One way or another, we'll get through this-- we always do, eh?
I've gotta sort my vitamins and pills so I'm going to pack it in here for the evening.
Thanks for your patience through this time of short posts-- I appreciate it! Take care and have a good evening!
Wednesday, October 22, 2003Another Long Day
Now I've learned something: I have absolutely no talent for painting! I did manage to prime the strip between the stars and stripes in my sewing room but only just barely. My legs are killing me after standing two nights in a row on them but, the worst part is that I'm so lousy at painting, Brian's going to have to finish the color part! Oh, well-- I had to stay home tomorrow night anyway to do the laundry so this is probably better anyway.
Brian's finished with the carpets upstairs except for the hallway and the stairs so tomorrow night he'll do that along with the dining room carpet. On Friday night, his folks come back so we probably will not work at the house then but be back at it-- full throttle-- on Sunday afternoon after they leave to go to the airport. Believe it or not, we really are almost finished!
Anyway, I'm exhausted so I'm going to go hit the bed-- I'll try to remember to put my head on the pillow before I fall asleep!!
As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
Tuesday, October 21, 2003More of the same . . .
We went over to the house after work and finished removing the wallpaper in the one foot strip in the sewing room. While I started that, Brian worked on the carpet cleaning in a couple of the rooms that have lights in them. Tomorrow he'll have to finish the other two rooms and I'll start the painting of the strip in my sewing room.
My feet and legs were killing me by the time I finished and I'd worked up quite a sweat! I have decided that, now that I've showed, I'm going to head off to bed. I'm really whipped and I doubt it will change much over the course of the next few weeks.
Bear with me-- it'll get better, I promise!
Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Monday, October 20, 2003Its done . . .
Officially speaking, we are part-owners of a house and land in Bowie, Maryland!! Shock-a-rooooo!! I can't say that "N" word anymore but I think I am still in awe and somewhat traumatized by the disbelief that I'm still experiencing.
The closing itself went smoothly with only one glitch happening in the first payment due on the mortgage-- it was due last Friday, three days before they gave us the money!! Obviously, this was an error that we eventually got fixed and, when all was said and done, it took a little over two hours to get the paperwork finished.
We went back to the rental house after that where I changed my clothes and ate some lunch and then we headed over to make a list of our needs to get the house move-in-able. We're not going to do any major painting, etc. right now because it doesn't need it and we want to see what we want to keep or remove before we arbitrarily paint too much at the beginning.
Anyway, I've come to realize that posts here may be a little thin for a few weeks unless I write them during the day, which is always a possibility. Keep checking and I'll keep writing as time and energy permit.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
