My Day

Well, let's see: I went to get my hair done today and decided to check into the salon's policy on hair donation, specifically, "Locks of Love".  Locks is a place where you can donate a length of hair of at least 10" so that someone who has lost their hair due to a treatment plan can have hair again.  More often, it is donated to a hair piece for children but occasionally, adults receive hair, too.

I had started thinking about doing this several years ago but only in the last month decided that my hair would be difficult to blow dry in the winter.  I was thinking of getting about 10" taken off and getting a new style.  As long as I was going to do that, I wanted to do something good with my hair and, obviously, the answer is a hair donation.

Six weeks from today (November 22), I'll get a pony tail of my hair cut off and get a new hair style, too.  I've got two ideas in mind but we'll see . . . I haven't decided for sure on which one to go with yet but I'll keep you posted.

2 Plus 2

Yesterday I mentioned that I wanted to sew a pair of gray and navy pants; I sewed them yesterday and started on a top last night.  This morning, I finished that top and sewed another one so I'm set until after we get moved for getting the sewing bug out of my system-- I hope.

I did start to pack my sewing room up a bit but tomorrow I'll move on to the living room's small book cases so that we've got somewhere to stack boxes out of the way of our guests next weekend.

Tomorrow . . .

I need to get the bedroom set up the rest of the way, too.  I'm going to make up the bed and make sure that the bathroom is outfitted and then we'll be ready with the exception of a few groceries that we should pick up on Thursday.  Yes, we're a little excited!  I really love Brian's parents and I'm so glad that they're able to come see us.

Update on Our Little Girl

Sally vomited on Friday afternoon.  She didn't eat on Friday night nor did she hound us for her stick at 8:10pm.  Yes, that was a very good indicator that there was something wrong with her.  She's always hungry for that stick at 8:10!!

This morning, she barely ate her pills with a bit of dog food but, by about 11, she did manage to eat some dry dog food.  Then, by this evening, she was excited about Brian making her dinner but she didn't eat it then . . . only later.  However, promptly at 8:07pm, she came up to pester me for her stick!  That was a treat!  We talked about it but ended up giving it to her and so far, it has stayed down.  She's downstairs sleeping on the floor as I write this-- one of us will go down and put her out later, before we go to sleep.

That's about the extent of my day-- it was pretty busy!!  Of course, there was a nap (it was Saturday, after all), and we had Chinese take-out.  My appetite was less than it had been for Chinese food but then, that's to be expected-- hopefully, my stomach has shrunken along with my hips, tummy, and legs!!  (Yes, I've lost 10.5" and 13.8 lbs!!)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening/night!

Guess I Thunked Wrong

I thought I'd mentioned to you that I had Thursday and Friday off this week but I can't find it now-- at least not on this page.  Oh, well-- maybe its just another symptom of me losing my mind?  Could be-- probably is.

Anyway, Wednesday:
I went to the doctor and have been officially dismissed from care for my knee.  Essentially my knee is doing better and, so long as I continue to do some form of exercise (which I have to admit I am lousy at remembering to do) and continue to do my stretches (this I remember to do-- once in awhile), I'll be able to strengthen my ham string and the bursitis will go away.  It doesn't act up very often anymore so that's a good thing.

Later that night on Wednesday:
We went to see Rob Becker do the "Defending the Caveman" schtick.  It was pretty good.  I hadn't seen a lone stand-up comic since the 80's some time (and that was George Carlin) so it was a fun time.

We forget, until we get down there, how close DC is-- the culture in that city!!  We really need to make an effort, once we get the move done, to spend weekends at the Smithsonian-- I can't believe we haven't even been there yet!!

On Thursday:
I spent the morning packing up the dining room and a small bit of the kitchen.  I also started on my closet so I'm making progress.

The intention of my time off was to . . . RELAX!!  I hadn't done that very well so far soooooo, I took the afternoon off and slept.  Yep, a good three hour nap!!  Felt good and, no, I didn't have a problem falling asleep last night so I must've needed it!

On Today's Agenda?

Since I won't be able to sew for about three or four weeks after the 17th, I'm going to get some sewing in today.  I've got two more pairs of pants that I want to make: Gray and Navy Blue so I'm going to get them done.  Then I'll be set until after we move and get settled into the house.

Later, I'll take another nap because I didn't sleep in today-- Sally needed to go downstairs and Brian prefers not to take her down during the week.  Not a problem-- any excuse for a nap is fine with me.

SOOOOOOO, I'll probably be back later.  Thanks for stopping by and I'll try to be better at this although I'm contemplating not writing here when I have time off from work.  I'll think about that . . .  in November, when we move, there may not be an option if we don't have the computers set up.

Have a great day!!!

Mayflower Day

Okay, maybe just the afternoon but it was fun, nonetheless.  We went to the Mayflower Hotel for lunch and had a wonderful time laughing and talking and just relaxing-- great fun had by the three of us (Judy, Lee and me).

Full Agenda

Tomorrow I've got a doctor appointment at 7:30am-- I have no clue how I'm going to make it on time!  Its with the orthopedic doctor and we're going to talk about my knee but, since I am not having huge amounts of pain, I think I'm okay with it.  I have to keep stretching it and, although I don't always remember, I do try to remember so as long as I keep doing it, it will get better on its own.

Seven Out of Eight

I've now knocked back seven out of the eight books that I have in my possession from the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.  I'm having so much fun reading these-- they are really interesting stories and very well told!  Too much fun!!

Anyway, I'm about to start the 8th book: "Hard Eight" and I may not be able to post tomorrow due to the fact that Brian . . . paid for the cell phone this morning.  I'll let him tell you tomorrow morning-- check this link after 8am tomorrow.

Other than that, I'm outta here-- have a great night and thanks for stopping by!

Again, Not My Fault!!!!

This morning, Brian called to notify me that there was a big accident on US50 and over-flow traffic was going to 450 so I would be sitting in traffic if I ventured into work "any time soon".  Good point-- guess I'll just read my book: "Hot Six" was done this morning before I left work and, yes, I've started "Seven Up".  I'm having too much fun reading these books!!

Finishing Touches

When I got home, I finished the packing in my office with the exception of my vitamins and the computer stuff, it is completely packed.  Then I went downstairs and started sewing the vest of the outfit that I wanted to wear tomorrow.  Yep, I got it done and all ready to wear so that when we go for lunch at The Mayflower Hotel, I'll look decent.  (That's not always easy since our office is pretty casual.)

I'm chugging right along, aren't I?  Yeah, well, I'm not too worried about it.  Before I pack up my "sewing room", I want to make a pair of gray pants and a pair of navy pants.  Then I'll be okay until after we get moved and I get everything set up at the other end.  I've got the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday nights and, then-- I've got Thursday and Friday off!!  YEAH!!

I'm determined not to get burnt out!!  I've got a lot of PTO stocked up because we haven't taken any real vacations in the past year-- just a day here or there.  Even at that, I haven't been taking them off as regularly as I should so I decided I need more R&R time.  As a result, I'm going to be taking time this month and next month to have long weekends and just plain weeks (around the Thanksgiving holiday) to SEW or ride my bike (we'll be able to put it together now that we're in a house of our own!) or WHATEVER!!  I can hardly wait!!!  Anyway, I'm going to take time for myself and that includes my PTO.  Whew!!  That'll be a relief, eh?

*****
That's all for tonight-- I've got a bit of reading that I'd like to do before I settle down for the night.

Take care, thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
