A New Form of NOBS

As might have been expected, our regular bed seemed to pull a "NOBS" (Not Our Bed Syndrome) on us last night-- at least for me.  I found myself waking up several times and feeling like I stayed awake for much longer than I probably did.  As a result, we slept in until 9:30am which is late for us.

Sally can come upstairs with us which is a relief.  She is no longer on Rimadyl but the Ecotrin seems to work just as well on her arthritis.  She's already been up and down the stairs with each of us several times.  At some point during the night, Sally decided she liked sleeping downstairs better and, when I went down this morning, I found her in her bed.  Silly dog.

Lost-n-Found

I'm terrible when it comes to putting things away properly.  This is but one reason that I don't do the housekeeping around here-- I'd put everything away and then we'd never find it again!  Anyway, at some point before we went to Michigan, I cleaned out my purse and wallet both of which contained a prescription order and a series of blood tests that needed to be done for my endocrinologist and my regular doctor.  Additionally, before I went into the hospital, I put my "Creation Book" (a book of my ideas for sewing and embroidery, etc.) somplace and when I asked Brian to bring it to me in the hospital, he couldn't find it.

Finally, yesterday, I found the Creation Book-- it was on top of my monitor (don't ask me why he couldn't see it-- I wasn't here!) and late yesterday, after much searching of the house and thinking I would have to call my many doctors to confirm appointments, I found the whole pile of prescriptions and appointment cards!  YEAH!!!  I'm not as lost as I thought afterall!!

Tomorrow!  Tomorrow!!

After one series of blood tests tomorrow morning, I come home to eat breakfast.  Then a couple of hours later, I'll be going back to Annapolis to get my "Release to Work" papers from my doctor-- YEAH!!!  I've promised several people that I'll be in the office by 1pm so I hope there aren't any complications at my doctor's office.  Considering the way that the dial-up has been acting lately, I'll be extremely happy to be IN the office tomorrow!!

More to come on the day's events?  Probably ... Maybe ... See you later and have a GREAT day!

Exceptionally Productive!!

I finished everything that I wanted to get done today!  I cleared off the coffee table of excess magazines and some assorted junk and stuff left over from the first part of the recovery.

Then I moved to the kitchen table which required moving my work computer upstairs along with the keyboard, mouse, power stuff (including my cell phone charger), and computer.  I went into dial-up mode but never could get it to send out an email.  I finally gave up and talked with the Head Geek who, of course, resolved that problem and set me up on the new office VPN-- he's so smart!!

Then, I tore down (at least for the moment) my downstairs laptop (the one I use for embroidery and the business), filed all of the loose embroidery stuff and found a place to store all of the aforementioned items.

The last thing I had to do was transfer my stuff from my summer tote bag to my winter leather backpack.  With that finished, I'm officially ready to go back to work-- YEAHHHH!!!!

I know-- remind me that I said that later when I complain, okay?

Amongst that was a phone call to my sister who has now returned to Brazil from Michigan and assorted email engagements, etc.  Has been a most fun and fruitful day all around.  Finished Janet Evanovich's "One for the Money" and complained because I have nothing new to read only having forgotten about a Mary Higgins Clark/Carol Higgins Clark book that I have to read.

That being my day, I guess I'll call an end to this report and sign off for the night.

Thanks for stopping by and especially if its your second visit today-- take care and have a great evening and/or night!

Jiggety-Jig!

The nice thing about being gutted and filleted (that was Don Armstrong's description, not mine) is that you get to see milestones of improvement.  1) initial pain goes away; 2) initial shock goes away; 3) starting to feel the nerves in your abdomen begin to tingle again; and 4) returning to one's own bed!  This evening, we will be sleeping in the Master Bedroom Suite of the Bilbrey Belfry.  What a relief!!  Its been cool "living" downstairs but I'm also sick of it and miss our bedroom.

By the way, Don-- I've still got all of my bones so I don't think "filleted" applies but that's neither here nor there.

Grocery Shopper

This morning, due to the special dietary requirements of the LA Weight Loss plan, I had to do the shopping by myself.  It took about two hours because I had to look and find specific things.  Three stops (which is probably a record) later, I was finished and our weekly needs were covered.  Yeah!!  I wanted to do it alone because it required label-reading which Brian doesn't do patiently with me so better to let him mow the lawn and me to tackle the label-reading on my own.

Alas, however, I feel that this is the last from me for today as I've got some other things to move upstairs and some writing for myself to do.

As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great afternoon and evening!

Can't Wait!!

Yes, on Monday I will be returning to the office; I've got an appointment at 11:15 to have my doctor provide me with my "Release to Work".  I do believe that'll be the happiest day I've had in a long while.  No more dial-up, no more SLOOOOWWWWW downloads, no more cell phone balancing struggles.  Back to my headsegt and the T1 line-- ahhhh!!

Remind me of how happy I was when I start complaining about them and the job, etc., okay?  Thanks!

Unbelievably So

Yes, indeedy, the Bilbrey Belfry will be making one more move and hopefully, this'll be the last move for a long, long time.  All of our ducks are in a huddle, getting ready to pass the paperwork to the mortgage company over the weekend sometime and then, its on to finding our own little piece of heaven on earth.  I'm looking forward to it but I'm also cynical at the same time-- things have really come a long way since we were married more than five years ago.

We have a lot of requirements but I'm sure we'll be able to find what we're looking for in a house that we'll be able to call our own home.  A basement, a lot of bedrooms (for us, guests and hobbies) and a nice, updated kitchen and lots of space to grow a real garden-- not too much to ask for, is it?

I'm sure we'll keep you abreast of our search-- yet another adventure for us, eh?

That said, I'm going to sign off for the night since I've still got grocery lists to prepare.  I'm on to the next phase of my new eating plan (-2.6lbs lighter since Tuesday) but it still requires separate food to be prepared.  I will be at really normal food intake in about another week from what I can see so that's good-- then Brian and I can eat together.

Thanks for stopping by-- I appreciate the patronage and have a great and wonderful evening!

Happy Birthday to All!!

Brian and I have both got relation with birthdays on this day so Happy Birthday to Pete & Ron!!

Limitations

I am extremely limited in what I can work on for the office due to the extremely low speed of the dial-up connection.  Oh, well, only one more day and then I get to go back to the office!  I am looking forward to it but then I've always preferred to work in the office rather than working from home.

6 out of 7

I forgot to mention: I have read six out of the seven books that I intended to read over the past five week!!  All of them were very, very good and interesting and fun reads with one exception-- The Hillary Rodham Clinton book.  I guess the only part of her "Living History" I was interested in was when Bill was in the Oval Office.  The time leading up to their climb to the top is quite boring and fairly difficult to "get into" as far as the subject matter is concerned.

Oh, well, at least I succeeded with the other books!  They were fun and now I've got them ready to loan out to friends and family.  I've started a new series from Janet Evanovich; I'll let you know how that goes.

That's it for me tonight-- I've gotta go watch Aerosmith!

Have a great evening!

Did I Mention?

Now that I'm pretty much back to normal (Okay, for the most part, that's true-- the bigger picture is that yes, it will take me six months to be completely "normal".  Then for the even bigger picture, What is MY "normal"??), I've decided to shed the pounds that I've gained since my knee surgery in March and definitely the ones that were gained over the last five to six weeks!!!  Yeesh!!!  So, I've "joined" the L.A. Weight Loss Center in Bowie.  Today is my first day on the new program and although it seems a little strange to eat turkey burgers at 8am, I feel that this program will work.

Yes, I know: Hopefully, I won't become too complacent and follow the program the way that it is supposed to go.  Right now, my only limitation seems to be what's available at produce stands and grocery stores for vegetables since I am only allowed green vegetables for the first three days.  Once that can stretch out a bit, I'll be able to start munching on tomatoes and yellow squash from our garden.  I'll keep you posted on my progress-- cross your fingers for me!!!

Slow Connectivity

For whatever reason, dial-up is horrendously slow today.  It is taking seven minutes to open an email through webmail's access of my work email!!  I'll be here all day at this rate!!!  At this rate, I'll be back to work full-time by the time that I get my email read!!

Oh, well-- more to come, I'm sure.  Gotta get back to it so you have a good day, okay? Okay!

Happy Birthday, Robbie!!

Our nephew, Robbie is 4 today!!!  That's the really sad part about living in Maryland: we don't get to see the kids grow up.  He'll be HUGE by the time that we see them again;  Barb has hinted that perhaps they'll swing a visit next year-- we can only hope!!  I can't wait to see them already!!!

As Promised

I'm back-- I plan to start posting on a regular basis again since I'm technically working and having things to comment on aside my injuries.

So I logged into my email today and found that I had over 325 emails.  That makes sense since I probably shouldn't have received ALL of the email that was sent out in the five weeks that I've been out.  I clearly have one sales rep who didn't understand the "Out-of-Office Assistant" email that he received everytime he sent me an email.  I don't know-- maybe he thought that it only applied to everyone else but I would work on his stuff.  I have yet to find out if he finished everything he needed or if he's still waiting for responses from me.

Recap Here

The recap of the weekend is on Brian's page for today-- he's done a fine job of providing a synopsis of the weekend's activities.  My sisters are the best-- I love them sooo much and it is so nice to spend time with them!!  Their kids, who are not really "children" in the truest sense of the word anymore, are wonderful!!

I will miss them all until the next time that we get together which hopefully won't be too far in the offing!

I guess that's it for tonight-- drop back by tomorrow night and we'll see what trouble I can get into tomorrow at work, okay?  Cool!!

Thanks for stopping by and take care-- have a great evening!
