Picture Fest

I owe you about three weeks worth of pictures, right?  Well, here we go!

To the left is Milton, the country manager for Brasil.  Nice fellow, really, despite being the owner of the corner office with fabulous view of Sao Paulo.  On the right, is my friend, Marli, the office manager/administrator for the Sao Paulo office.  (More on Marli in a minute-- I've gotta get through these pictures!)

That's all of the pictures I have for Sao Paulo.  This next picture is of downtown Bauru on Saturday morning.  In Bauru, where my sister and her husband live, they still have the "big market" on Saturday mornings there.  Saturday is the "BIG" shopping day there so, of course, this street is going to be crowded.

This is a Molly of another sort.  My sister has a cat, pictured at left, named "Molly".  As compared to our Molly, this little girl is much ... different!!  She's a sweet kitten/cat and she and I had lots of fun together-- I was desperate for the attention of an animal by the time I met her!!!

Molly on the stairs; the stairs and all of the floors are beautiful wood planks, stained to a dark, rich color and highly varnished-- just beautiful!

Sue & Bill in the kitchen-- the walls are completely tiled and yes, that's a black granite floor!!

Bill with Molly-- He's not "Daddy" but "The Man".  (Sue, of course, is "The Lady".  Pretty cute, huh?)

Molly's pretty little face.

Did I mention that the floors are highly polished, as well?

Sue ("The Lady") with Molly.

Sue, with her best friend, Celia-- we had a lovely tea on Tuesday afternoon!

This is the church and sign for the church.  It is nice to be able to see things for myself to get a better perspective.

And now, for the thing you've all been waiting for: MY OFFICE!!

The "Exercise Corner"
Main Workstation . . .

 . . . "Work from Home" workstation and bookcase/cupboard.

The "More on Marli" Thing

This morning, since we hadn't talked for a week, I called Marli "Que saudade, minha amiga" I said when she answered the phone.  She laughed and said "So you're missing Brasil?"  "The FUN we had, of course!!"

We talked a little bit about business and then I asked her when she would be coming up-- I had extended the invitation for her to come up and stay with us.  She asked if I was serious and we finally agreed that the week of October 11, when I have vacation anyhow, would be a convenient time for her to come for a visit.  She's got the mileage for a free ticket and she has a place to stay-- its just a matter of "spending money" after all of that.

We'll see how this goes, eh?  I'll keep you posted.

Well, I'm going to sign off for the night-- much to plan as tomorrow is errand day and we're going to be doing some serious cleaning this weekend.

Have a good night!

Low on Topics

So I thought I'd share this with you:

WHO SAYS THAT COPS DON'T HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR?

"Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretch out after you wear them awhile."

"Take your hands off the car, and I'll make your birth certificate a worthless document."

"If you run, you'll only go to jail tired."

"Can you run faster than 1,200 feet per second? In case you didn't know, that is the average speed of a 9 mm bullet fired from my gun."

"So you don't know how fast you were going. I guess that means I can write anything I want on the ticket, huh?"

"Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't think it will help. Oh ... did I mention that I am the shift supervisor?"

"Warning? You want a warning? O.K., I'm warning you not to do that again, or I'll give you another ticket."

"The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not:  Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?"

"In God we trust, all others we run through NCIC."

"Just how big were those two beers?"

"No, sir,  we don't have quotas any more. We used to have quotas, but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we want."

"I'm glad to hear the Chief of Police is a good personal friend of yours. At least you know someone who can post your bail."

"You didn't think we give pretty women tickets? You're right, we don't.  Sign here."

Have a good night!

Drilling for Oil??

There was some construction going on in our building at work today-- it sounded like a drill and, although I couldn't tell where it was coming from, I knew it was close to me.  Remember that I'm deaf in my right ear so I can't tell where anything comes from (directionally, speaking-- I can tell an insult when I hear one).  I was muttering and complaining about it after I got off a phone call with a sales rep who couldn't hear me (and I couldn't hear him) after it had been going on for a couple of hours.  My new co-worker ("Don") said "Well, no kidding-- its coming from below your office!"

Oh, yeesh!!  There I was-- packing up my computer at 10:30 so I could work at home.  That's a real sacrifice these days, too, don'tcha know?  My office at home is soooo unpleasant to work in-- NOTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

On my "lunch break", I finished setting up my office-- one of these days, Brian or I will take pictures to share with you.  It really is a cool place to work, ya know?

Uh-Oh!!

At one point today, Lucy came up and started "tapping" my leg to go downstairs.  I ignored her for a few minutes but finally relented and brought the dogs outside . . . again.  It had to be the umpteenth time since I was home-- what do they do when we're not there?!?!?

Anyway, the next thing I know, she's eating grass and ultimately, up-chucking inthe back yard along with other unpleasant things.  Poor Baby!!  She stayed out in the backyard for quite some time-- she really did not feel well.  When Lucy finally came back up to me on the porch, all she wanted was for me to hold her-- cuddling her to soothe her upset tummy.

Of course, that leads to Molly wanting the same thing and there is quite a difference between the two girls sooooo, I gave Molly a head scratch and hoped it would suffice for the time being.  It did and we went back inside so I could continue working.

That's all the news that's fit to tell you about so I'm gonna sign off-- take care and have a good night!

Yet Another

Yes, as you all know, another month has FLOWN by!!  This one went really fast for me because of the travel in the middle of the month for two weeks.  Just completely amazing how quickly this year is passing-- already!

Speaking of passing quickly, today was a fast one!!  Between getting documents out the door (for the end-of-month) and getting my expense report together, it just flew by!  I like it when days do that-- it makes it much more interesting and fun!

Office Progress

I am this [] close to getting my office finished!  It feels good, let me tell ya!  I am easily distracted however which isn't a good thing but, tonight, I am kinda tired so I'll just play a game or two and call it a night early.

Sounds like a plan to me!

By the Way . . .

Last night, after I put up my post, I continued my attempts at calling my cousin, Barb.  I tried to call her from 6:15pm to 7:30pm but her line was busy.  At that time, I was online and checking email and guess what I got?  Yep, an email from my cousin Barb so I gave her another call and finally the phone rang!!  We talked for about 45 minutes with me telling her about my trip and her telling me about her son's wedding.

I'm probably going to call Pat this weekend since I'm doing so badly at writing back to her-- man, it is tough when its the end of the month!

I'm going to sign off for a bit so I'll talk with you later.  Have a good evening!

Not Quite

Well, really-- not by a long shot!  I didn't get the horizontal surfaces cleaned yesterday; I'm just about finished today but part of the problem is that its not just "cleaning" that's involved-- it also involves organizing, sorting, setting up files, etc.  So, there's lots to do when it comes to this sort of thing.

No excuses though as I finally got my jewelry organized-- both the new and old stuff-- and the low, long dresser in our bedroom is finally cleared off of stuff.  While it wasn't on the list, I picked up the things that had accumulated on the kitchen table that were mine so I feel kinda good about that "bonus".

Bad Communications

I've been horrible at keeping up with communications with people lately-- friends and relatives!  My cousin, Barb, probably thinks I've dropped off the face of the earth-- I haven't talked to her in months and, now that I'm trying, her phone is busy!  My friend, Pat, knew I was going to Brasil and that accounted for much of my on-line absence but, I still feel badly because I don't take the time to write, even on email, as much as I should or could.  Email is so easy-- how can you mess that up?!?!?

SOOOO, if you're looking for an email from me, be patient-- I'll get there.

In the meantime, have a great evening!
