Its almost 11am as I write this and, yes, I'm "working from home" today but mostly, I'm packing. I'm actually just about packed completely with the only thing remaining to be my toiletries. I think I'm going to be down to only two suitcases and my computer bag which would be perfect. I thought I was going to have to carry a separate bag for my toiletries but it looks like they're going to fit in my big suitcase after all. That's a relief-- I didn't want to have to carry it because it would be a pain to do so, obviously.
Lucy has already got a bad case of the mopies but Molly has figured out what it means so she's just in the way a lot. You know-- the convenience of "having Mommy home to pet her almost non-stop except for when she's packing and what is that suitcase thingy for?"
My email from work is either slow or non-functioning. I do have it open on my work computer and will really work as soon as I'm finished getting everything together. There are some email items that I have to get straightened out before I can leave.
My anxiety level is pretty high right now-- I'm a little wired. I'm bringing my sister some Tylenol PM and I think I'll keep a couple out for tonight and tomorrow night on the plan (yes, its a "sleep over" flight). Being completely packed will lessen the likelihood of a complete freak-out on my part so I'm looking forward to the end of that process.
I won't be back for almost two weeks so I probably won't be posting here but relaying messages to ya'll through Brian. Keep an eye on his page, okay?
Take care, be safe as me, and have a good couple of weeks!!
Wednesday, August 11, 2004I'm Here!!! I'm Here!!!
No, I haven't left for my trip yet. I've just been busy and stuff. Monday night, I didn't feel well; a little nausea so I took it easy. Tuesday night, a bunch of us from the office were supposed to have a happy hour but it turned out to be three of us. Okay, so its the most important three of us in the office but, oh, well. Lauree, Lee and I had a good time and we were home early, too!
The Rest of the Agenda
Between now and when I leave on Saturday, I have to do four loads of laundry, work, and pack. The good news is that since I will be flying on two days of my weekend, I only have to use 1 day of vacation when I go to Bauru-- pretty cool! Lee decided that since I was giving up my weekend to get there, I could at least be compensated for it a little. Way cool!!
We've let the laundry stack up for over a week because I wanted to make sure that everything I would need for the trip would be clean. That way I can pack without running a gazillion loads of laundry on Friday or Saturday morning.
I'll get there but I am a bit fretful about possibly forgetting something. Yes, I know they have stores there but I don't speak the language so I will be at a disadvantage at the register as well as in the search.
Life with the Girls
It is still very interesting around here with Lucy and Molly. Molly "taunts" Lucy on a fairly regular basis but I've noticed that it occurs after a particularly nice scratching from me. I have decided that she's not trying to get her to play but instead, challenging her for the queendom of the house. It probably means, "See? Mommy pet me, too, so she loves me best. C'mon, I'll whip your little butt to be Queen of the Castle here!" Lucy, however, being the snobbish "Queen of Sheba" (as she was named "Sheba" when we got her), looks at Molly and says with her look "As if!"
Well, the challenge is not taken (thankfully) and Molly walks away in a strutting manner as if to say, "Any time, Lucy, any time". Dogs are fun, ya know?
That's all for tonight but I'll try to post again before I leave-- maybe even going for two nights in a row!!
Have a good one!
