Archive of Marcia's Musings February 16-22, 2004As Expected . . .
Yesterday was a very long day. I had to be at the federal meeting at 8am and then, I attended the dinner, returning home about 11:15pm. Yes, it was indeedy a very, very long day.
I didn't have to go in until . . . whenever this morning. Judy said to turn off my alarm and get in by 11:30am but that there was no rush. I actually woke up a little after Brian this morning, but went back to sleep except for him kissing me as he was leaving.
I went back to sleep again and awoke around 8:30 which is extremely late for me on a "school day". I didn't feel any rush to get to work though but I did check my email from home.
By the time I mosied into the office, it was nearly 10:30. After putting out the few fires that came up during the day, all three of us (Judy and Lee, too) left early.
Next week will be fun and interesting . . . more to come on that one, I'm sure.
In the meantime, I'll be around here this weekend so I'll catch you tomorrow.
A Note To Email Owed: I'll get to writing you back eventually-- I owe everyone an email right now but just am not awake enough to do it right now. Bear with me-- I'll get back to you!
Have a good evening . . .
Wednesday, February 18, 2004Sundries
Nothing major to report tonight-- just a bunch of little stuff (if I can remember it all).
It takes a lot out of me when Brian has to go to an early dentist appointment-- 7am allows him to be at work "on time" but man, I'm sure worn out all day!!
We went to lunch (Judy and Lee and me) to celebrate my birthday-- we had a lovely time of it, really. The fun part was getting lost in Annapolis.
Tomorrow, I've got a meeting all morning with the government sales group. That should be fun and then, in the evening, I've got to go to dinner with them, also in Annapolis. (I can hardly wait to get lost by myself!!) The point is that I may not be home until too late to post tomorrow night so if that's the case, bear with me-- I'll be back on Friday.
Between Brian and my other Birthday gifts, I have been able to purchase another 40 spools of thread!! Now, I do believe, my variety is complete-- I've probably got a 100 spools but the variety of color is the important part. I think I'm set there now which will help a lot in completing all of the designs and ideas I have to work out.
My sister's quilted wall-hanging is completely pieced and now forms a completed quilt top. I'm putting on the border as we speak (well, okay, I'm the only one "speaking" but you know what I mean). I hope to start the quilting this weekend.
I'm up to "O" on the "Kinsey Millhone" series by Sue Grafton-- I'm still enjoying them but there are only two books left!! "R" isn't due out for awhile. That's okay, thanks to Barbara Thompson, I've ordered the next books in the "Meg Langsley" series by Donna Andrews and the next book in the quilting series by Jennifer Chiaverini. (Even from a distance, Barbara does a wonderful job of spending my money for me, doesn't she?)
That brings me up to date-- as far as I can remember, anyway. Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Tuesday, February 17, 2004You Don't Remember?????
I told that you when I got back to posting last fall-- when I have vacation from work, I won't be posting here soooooo, that explains my absence.
What happened during those days? Well, here ya go:
Friday: I went shopping in the morning and slept in the afternoon. On Friday evening, Brian and I played with our new Valentines' present, Deluxe Scrabble. We've been wanting the rotating board for a long time but have never been able to find it until . . . Friday.
Saturday: We went antiquing in the late morning/early afternoon hours. We've been looking for new and/or used dining room set (breakfront/hutch, sideboard, table and chairs) but weren't thrilled with the prices in the "new" sections of furniture stores. We went to the shops that are in Old Bowie and, while we were thrilled with some of the pieces, we weren't thrilled by the prices!
Saturday late afternoon/early evening, we went to our favorite (in Maryland) Mexican restaurant for dinner and then, out to the Round House Theatre to see a performance of "Love is in the Air" which included my very good friend, Linda Rose Payne. She is really a wonderful songstress!! We sat with her husband, who was also there to see her performance, since it was Valentines' evening so it was a nice time.
Sunday: Hmmm, nothing happened at all on Sunday...no way did anyone have a birthday or eat any cake or . . . Okay, well, maybe just a little birthday cake-- for me!! We just did our errands and goofed off all day-- I did a lot of sewing and embroidery so I had lots of fun on my last birthday. Nope, I will not be having one next year!!!
Monday: After stopping at the LA Weight Loss Center to start me up "on program" again, we went to the store to pick up some/most of the stuff needed to un-finish the basement so that Brian can have a work shop down there. I almost think he's going to have as much fun making the work shop as working in it. He's going to make our dining room furniture, sans the chairs, and a secretary for the library. Knowing him, it'll be beautiful!!
By the way, I only gained 2 pounds for the entire month I was out of program!!! Considering the cake on my birthday and going out for Mexican food, I'm really pleased with that low gain!!!
That brings you up to date with our weekend.
Today?
Nothing happened today-- just work and that's it. There's another storm coming in (supposedly). I've got my computer home "in case" but, if it doesn't happen, we're going to go out to lunch tomorrow.
In the meantime, work-is-work continues to be the norm for me-- that's a good thing in this economy.
I guess that's all for tonight-- thanks for your patience and for stopping by. Have a good evening!
