Archive of Marcia's Musings May 26-June 1, 2004Anniversary!!
This is the sixth anniversary of our first date!! Brian responded to my personal ad on January 28, I wrote back on the 29th and we had our first conversation on the 30th of January. We had set up our first date to be a coffee date, meeting at a Starbucks on that Sunday six years ago.
We've come a long way in that six years and yet, it seems like yesterday. While I know this isn't as long as some people we know have been together, for us, this is heaven-on-earth and happiness abounds.
Gotta get back to the game . . . hope you're having fun, too! Have a good evening!
Saturday, January 31, 2004First One Down
Wow! Here we are at the end of the first month of 2004 already! Yeesh!! Where does the time go?
Well, I can only speak for last night: I went to a neighborhood "event". That was fun and a good time was had by all. Brian didn't come with me because he'd had a long day at work and just didn't have the strength-- especially after moving the furniture all around!! Anyway, I got home from that at 11 and, of course, was too tired to put up a post.
This morning, I slept later than usual and took my time getting ready for the day. When I did go out, it was to the Viking Sewing Gallery that I used to work at because my Rose sewing machine was due for service. I had a nice visit with the girls that I used to work with and then I came home to find that the furniture had been delivered while I was out. (Man, it makes such a difference to have nice furniture in a room!)
We needed to get an ottoman yet so off we went in search of one. After making two stops, we found one at Pier 1. When we got home, I layed down on the new furniture to break in the sofa for napping-- worked perfectly, too!
We've decided to go back and get another ottoman so that we've got two and then, Brian will more than likely add end tables and a coffee table to his list of furniture to construct. The first task is to get his workshop in shape, however, so I'm going to encourage him to get that "built" downstairs because that would be warmer than keeping it set up in the garage.
Tomorrow? More errands and a call to my sister, of course! What would Sunday be like without it? Then, yes, like the rest of the world, we'll watch the Super Bowl-- gotta do that!!
Whew! I'm tired out already!
Have a good evening!
Thursday, January 29, 2004Jiggety-Jig
Back to work I went today-- so much fun to be in the office!! It is actually nice to work from home ONCE in awhile but three days in a row is a bit much! I was glad to be back at work in the office and so were Lee and Judy.
Upon returning home, however, I went into shut-down mode. I replaced the zipper on my heavy winter coat-- it kept splitting at the bottom because it was a metal zipper. Since I had replaced Brian's coat zipper over the weekend for the same reason, there definitely seems to be a trend developing. At any rate, now I can wear my heavy coat instead of pretending I'm not cold and wearing a lighter-weight shirt jacket.
Then, I went into further shut down mode and read my book-- nearly finished with "J" now. I am enjoying the series!
That's all that's "interesting" by any stretch of the imagination around here today. Sorry that its boring but boring is good sometimes, too. At least for me its good sometimes.
Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Wednesday, January 28, 2004More of the Same
There wasn't anything happening around here so I didn't put up a post last night. Today, there isn't a lot more happening except that I have officially been dismissed from the care of my surgeon!! Yeah!!! I am allowed to go back on my Program which will start ASAP and/or when I get my case of apples on Friday. I'm actually looking forward to it again-- I'm sick of bland, over-cooked food and vegetables!!
Tomorrow I will go into the office for the first time this week-- the Girls are really going to miss me, too!! Today Brian went back to his work but I stayed home because of my doctor appointment. They at least had one "parent" for part of the day but, tomorrow, neither of us will be around! Wow-- what kinda trouble will they get into? Sally will sleep but Lucy . . . you know how SHE is!! She'll get into all kinds of trouble, I just know it!!
I know this is short but I'm going to sign off for now-- take care, thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT evening!
Monday, January 26, 2004Got My Wish!!
Just like at Christmas, I got what I wanted today: SNOW!! Thankfully, a reprieve came and we were able to have a nice relaxing day working from home. I hate to say it, but I really couldn't wait to "get to work this morning"-- traveling that whole 10 or 15 feet from our bedroom. Whew!! I thought I was going to get stuck in traffic (which with two dogs under foot-- literally-- is easy to do!)!
So, Brian and I worked from home today. Tomorrow may be more of the same for me. Its expected to be icing overnight and won't be a fun commute so I may just call it another work-from-home-day and let Brian take my truck. At least he'll have the weight of the Santa Fe with him on the roads.
Other than that, I've been sewing on my sister's wall-hanging since supper ended. This afternoon I finished "H"-- okay so maybe it isn't six weeks' worth of reading! I am enjoying them although they aren't even remotely as humorous as the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.
I was supposed to go to the post-op appointment with my surgeon today but I postponed it to Wednesday hoping that the storms that are coming aren't going to keep me locked in the house the whole week! I like snow BUT, there are limits to my cabin fever, ya know?
That, however long or short you feel this is, documents my entire Monday. Thanks for stopping by and keeping the home fires burning! Have a GREAT evening!
