Up and Running!!

I am coming to you via the desktop of my new Compaq Presario 2100 laptop-- yeah!!!  Brian's been setting and fixing it up all weekend.  I discovered last week that my "big" computer didn't run as fast or as nicely as the Presario did and I was only using it for sewing stuff.  That didn't make any sense to me soooo, here we are.

Its sooo nice to have a geek around the house . . .

There has to be a new version of that old song written, eh?

After errands today, I spent most of the day either reading or sleeping.  Last week, I finished Murder with Peacocks by Donna Andrews, the friend of Barbara and Bob Thompson.  Today, I finished Murder with Puffins, of course by the same author.  I have read a couple of other books by Donna Andrews ("Click Here for Murder" and "You've Got Murder") and have enjoyed them thoroughly but I believe these three (the next in the series that I've started today, "Revenge of the Wrough-Iron Flamingos") books are part of her earlier works.

Unfortunately, I won't even attempt to write a book review-- I'll leave that to Barbara (she does such a good job) but, I can say that I highly recommend her work.  I've been most enthralled by the stories and have no problems with visualizing the scenes.  Her writing technique definitely keeps you involved and interested in the story!!

Lonely Days

I found out on Friday that I will be the only person in the office on Monday-- and, for that matter, through Wednesday.  Everyone is off to the sales conference in San Diego this week.  I'm going to go in tomorrow but if it gets too creepy because I'm alone, I'll work from home the rest of the week.  We'll see how it goes, eh?

Thanks for your patience during this transition-- I'm back at least for the present.

Have a good evening and Happy Monday!

That Didn't Work!!

The gifts that I intended to give to Judy and Lee didn't work-- big mistake!!  Oh, well-- live and learn!  Anyway, I'll figure out something else in time for their birthdays, no doubt.

Busier Day

Mostly because, for the two days before the sales conference, the reps are back "at work".  It is short-lived but, at least I'll have some work waiting for me next week!

It is "expected" to snow tonight so if it does, I'll be working from home again but if it doesn't, I'll be going into the office, as usual.

Man, this is really not fun-- I much prefer having stuff to write here!

Oh, well-- if something else comes, you'll be the first I tell!  Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT evening!

Not Too Interesting

In fact, you could say it was again, down-right boring!  Wow-- I'm so glad that January only happens once a year!!  (Now if I could only convince Alan Greenspan to create two Decembers!!)

Happy Trails to You . . .

I'm just about finished with a couple of traveling presents to my co-workers Judy and Lee.  They have to leave to go to California this weekend for the legal meeting and sales conference-- I only get to have a surgery!!  Anyway, I decided to make them something to wear while they're gone and, of course, when they get back-- kinda like I'm with them.  Ain't that fun???

I'll get pictures of them tonight and give them to them tomorrow at work.  I think they'll get a kick out of them.

7 Down, 9 to Go!!

My sister is getting a late Christmas present from me-- a wall-hanging.  She's going to be here in April (with her husband, of course) so I plan to give it to her then and thus, the reason that it will be late.

Anyway, once again I digress . . . I have now finished 2 of the 9 blocks for it.  I've obviously got seven more to go but it is fun to play with this technique-- its not something I've done before and, no, you can't see it until she does!!

I'd better get back to it-- thanks for your patience and tolerance.  I'll be back with more, hopefully, tomorrow night!  In the meantime, be good and have a great evening!

Today???

Today is Tuesday, right?  Man!!  Its really slow at work so I have a hard time comprehending the passage of time.  I fear that it will be this way until after my surgery since all of the sales reps are either in training or will be (next week) at the sales conference.  Then, when I'm back from my surgery, they'll be back with their guns a'blazin' . . . oh, boy!  Just when I won't have the energy probably.  Yeah-- not.

Yesterday . . .

I went to the doctor to get a "low-fat bland diet" for after my surgery next week.  Actually, I am already on a low-fat diet and therefore, the only part I had to have explained to me was "bland".  Essentially, bland comes down to not having Brian doing any cooking for me!!  That wasn't tough since we're already doing that but, apparently, my food has to be really blandly prepared for a few weeks, too.  Oh, boy-- my reason for eating is...oh, yeah: sustenance.

I got to thinking about that today . . . so much of my life has been eating because it made my mother happy and then because, that was the way I was trained, it made me happy.  The thing is, it has gotten to the point where food no longer makes me feel happy.  Yes, I do enjoy food but, food doesn't make me happy-- _*I*_ make me happy.  (Yes, Brian makes me happy and so do Sally and Lucy but you know what I mean!!)

Now that I've got that figured out mentally, I need to put it to better practice and eat food as sustenance and occasionally as entertainment but not for happiness's sake.  Often times, good thoughts that are easier said than done but I'm going to work on it.

Archive 2004

Okay, I've got my archive files for 2004 set up and am using a new border-- hope you like it.  In the future, if you need to see anything in the archive from 2004, you can find it here.  If you need anything farther back, go farther back in the archive list (at the bottom of 2004) and, I believe the search tool on the index page is working.

Yeah-- I'm caught up!  Okay, I'm reading a really good book: "Murder with Peacocks" and am enjoying it immensely.  Off to read some more . . . thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
