Panic!!

I woke up panicked this morning because I hadn't packed ANYTHING yet for the trip-- I leave tomorrow so I'd like to have something packed.  Lucy and I wokeup at 6am and, that was that: we were out of bed so Brian could get some sleep.

Brian, who knows me very well by now, was gracious and brought in the suitcase by 9am-- he knows how anxious I would get if I couldn't pack-- at all-- until he got around to bringing it in so he, as I said, graciously brought it in early rather than making me crazy.  (Thanks, sweetie!)

Promptly at seeing the suitcase, Lucy became "Mopey Dog"!!!  Its really kinda cute but being that she's a dog, she doesn't get it so she's just going to be sad and cling very closely to me today.

Dutch Girl Bearing Gifts

Yeah, I know: You thought it was supposed to be Greeks that you should be afraid of!!  HAH!!  I've got all other nationalities so beat-- its downright frightening!  Since some of the recipients of these gifts may be reading this website, I won't name who they are for unless they are for people who I know do not read this website.  (Confused yet?  Good-- my work here is almost done!)

Starting below:

This is a small wall-hanging or car-seat sized quilt (depending on how the parents want to use it) for one of the attorneys that works for us in California.  She had her baby on June 30-- thankfully, he mom doesn't work contracts that are for licensing or we would've had a real problem!!

This inscription, which reads: "Baby's First Playmate, from Marcia Bilbrey, July, 2004" is based on theembroidery on the facing side being a stuffed bear with a paper hat.  Surely this little fella knows how to have a good time in Baby Land.

This is also a small wall-hanging or car-seat qult.  This is for Kaleigh, the brand new daughter of the paralegal for the department.  Kaleigh has carousel horses and unicorns in her room so I thought this would work nicely.

The inscription on this quilt reads: "A Pretty Pony for Kaleigh"-- I thought that was cute-- "from Marcia Bilbrey, July, 2004".  The fabrics for this one are flannel-based so the baby'll be nice and warm if they choose to use it as a quilt.

Okay . . . remember Debra Sweet?  She's the dear lawyer that we have working in our California office.  A couple of years ago, she had a baby girl and I made an afghan for her.  Not to be overlooked, I decided to make something for her new baby, due in September.  The new baby-to-be  is also a girl (they don't like surprises-- they hope!) so I thought I would make the new baby a quilt.

The basis of this quilt is embroidered butterflies.  The embroideries were run last summer so the eventually sashing that was done for the quilt, took a matter of hours to put together.

Here are some close-ups of the butterflies.

"For Another Sweet Baby"

How's that for a pun?  I couldn't resist-- it was almost toooooo easy!

I think they'll enjoy the surprise-- no, she doesn't know I'm bringing her anything!

Assorted towels for assorted new folks I have yet to meet but felt guilty leaving out.

Trademarks?  Me??  Oh, yeah, I guess.

And a close up of one of the girls . . .

An apron for one of the women at work that I've known for awhile.

A close-up of the wine and basket.

A hanging Christmas towel-- similar to the ones that I'm bringing to my sister in Brazil.

Flamingos for Nina!  She loves flamingos and I had intended to give her two towels.

I kept thinking that there was something amiss with this towel but I couldn't put my finger on it . . .

 . . . until this morning.

Mutant 'Mingos!!

Reading . . .

I've been reading "At Home in Mitford" by Jan Karon-- this is a book that Barbara bought for me when we were here.  It is an interesting book but I haven't completely decided if I want to commit to the whole series.

I did finish "Ten Big Ones" last week and forgot to tell you about it!  It is another of Evanovich's HILARIOUS "Stephanie Plum" series and is not even remotely disappointing in its humor and mystery.  Much enjoyed!

For the trip this week, I have two short mysteries with me and several quilting magazines so I should be set for reading material.  In addition to seeing Pat & Nathan and my in-laws (perhaps, even Barbara and the kids!!), there are going to be nights of social events with the group, too.

If you'll recall, the last two times that I've gone to California, I've gotten sick!  It'll be a fun and busy week-- here's hoping I can stay healthy while I'm there!!

Take care, thanks for stopping by and catch you next Saturday, okay?  Great!  HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!

Wireless!!

My spankin' new T41 with Centrino came in today-- YEAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Just in time for business travel, too-- what luck, eh?  Now I'll be ready to work at night after long days in meetings-- wait a minute: something's wrong with that picture!!  Oh, well, it definitely will make it easier to work when I travel on business.

The IT department spent around 4 hours getting it set up for me because it was sent from the warehouse to me.  It should've gone to our IT department first but, oh, well-- something always gets screwed up on these new set-ups.  I'm going to keep my old computer around in case we forgot to transfer something but, I should be set for the most part now.

The horror of it is, that's the only thing new and exciting today!

Terrible!

I'm working on cooking up some real trouble-- soon!

Have a good evening!

Not Much

There isn't a lot happening around here lately or at work.  Around the office, we're all preparing for our semi-annual trip to California next week.  We (the four of us negotiators from the East Coast) all arrive on Sunday on separate flights-- tons of fun for the limo folks.  I'm going to be meeting my friends, Pat & Nathan for dinner on Sunday night-- I can't wait to see them!

Other than that, I've been preparing some things to take as gifts for folks in the department-- can't go empty-handed: my Mama taught me better!

If anything comes up, I'll let you know.

In the interim, thanks for your patience and patronage.  Have a good evening!

Good Intentions

I had every intention of posting here on Sunday and Monday but, what is it they say about "Good Intentions"??  Yeah, I know-- it didn't work, did it?

I was busy over the weekend but mostly I was resting which is also an important part of what happens in day-to-day living.

Good News!!

I've been "negotiating" with an attorney for a customer in Florida for over a week.  The guy was the snottiest, nastiest scum-of-the-earth lawyer that I've had to work with in a loooonnnnngggggg time.  I hated and dreaded every phone call but Friday was the worst-- he actually resorted to calling me names!  The sales rep stepped in and I said I'd bring his "Limitation of Liability" issue up to corporate-- which I did and they denied it also.

Today, we exchanged a couple of email, I informed him of our position-- again-- and I've just checked email and he's conceded on both of the outstanding issues!!  YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Either the end user finally got through to him (the services are supposed to start on Monday but if we don't have a contract by Thursday, we will be canceling the services until the agreement is finished!) OR the lightbulb has finally gone on in his little mind and he finally gets what I've been trying to tell him!  Yeesh!!  That's been the worst negotiation I've had to deal with in a long time and I hope its a long time until the next time, too!!!

I can actually look forward to tomorrow, knowing its my last call with him!!

And on that note, I'm going to sign off and see if I can't find something to occupy my time for a bit before I go to sleep.  Have a good evening!
