Archive of Marcia's Musings June 21-27, 2004Admitted Spoiled Brat
Yep, that's me-- Brian lets me get away with not doing any real work on the weekends so that I can play or nap or whatever. I did do to loads of laundry this morning but followed that my a nap of more than 3 hours so where's the justice? I did some sewing-- I've got two small wall-hangings for babies done-- and I did some shopping (some supplies were needed for my ornaments).
I am lucky to have him because he handles 75% of the cleaning and household chores-- that's unusual but, on top of that, he does them better than I could even if I did them. I would like to see him get a break and get a housekeeper one day but that's probably not going to happen for a year or so.
That's a brief explanation for why I'm a lucky Spoiled Brat-- he puts up with me and loves me for it as much as I love him for spoiling me.
Have a good evening.
Thursday, June 24, 2004LOTS Happening!
The last two days have been busy and crazy at work-- no big surprise, right? Yeah, that's what I think, too.
Big negotiations going on and troublesome attorneys trying to get in the way and make my life miserable! I will, of course, cope with those attorneys but I dread just about every phone call-- not fun sometimes, ya know?
Dinner Out
Last night, Brian and I went out to dinner for a change-- my sister, Karen, sent us some gift certificates to Ruby Tuesday's so we had to use the last of them last night. "Had to" from the point of wanting to, of course. There was no expiration but we wanted to go out and have a nice dinner together. <Sigh> It was lovely.
Susan's Condition
I called the house where my sister Susan is staying and Karen answered the phone. Seems kinda odd but, just about the time I get used to it, she'll go on to her next destination-- the life of a teacher, ya know?
Anyway, Susan is doing beautifully in her healing process-- she doesn't have much of an appetite but apparently does eat well enough when food is prepared. That's good news-- it is certainly a good thing that she's getting better and on the mend!
By the way, I finished the ornament portion of the Christmas decorations tonight-- there are 30 but, I'm not finished because I'm going to make some refrigerator magnets and also a couple of shadow boxes for some big money for the sale in Brazil. I can put them in my suitcases, if needed for protection during travel and, in case they don't fit in the duffle bag that I'm bringing.
I'm off for tonight, though-- take care and have a good one!
Tuesday, June 22, 2004Its Official!
I'm tired! After we went to bed last night, Lucy started to scratch at one of her ears so Brian took her downstairs to wash her ears. Then, he ran the vacuum cleaner-- I couldn't figure out what the two had to do with each other either! Yes, I went downstairs to find out-- he had to clip the hair inside her ears since there wasn't any crud in them to wash out. He figured that was what was bothering her.
As logic would have him possessed, you can't vacuum one square foot of carpet-- you have to do the entire carpet so now, the living room is nicely vacuumed. It was 11:30 when he got back to bed but by then, he was too wound up to go to sleep so he read and I stayed awake during it. Oh, well-- he didn't read for long and I believe we were finally asleep by midnight. Unfortunately, daybreak and the alarm (worked today!), came way toooooo early for me, however.
After working in the crafts area on the ornaments (I've got nearly two dozen finished!), I've come upstairs to check my work email and realized that I have reached my limit: I'm tired!!
Oy!!
That's it for today because . . . I'm tired!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
Monday, June 21, 2004Wrong Guess!!
I'll bet you thought you lost another one, didn'tcha? Well, you were wrong-- I'm here but just busy. Yesterday, I went out to coffee with my friend, Linda Rose. We ended up shopping and I helped HER spend HER money-- I bought a couple of little things but I didn't buy clothes (she did) and I didn't buy any make-up (she did). That's a switch-- usually, when I go with friends to go shopping, I end up spending-- wayyyyy too much money!!!
After that, I took the rest of the day fairly easy and didn't do too much of anything. Lucy and I caught a nap but that was the highlight of the afternoon.
Work was . . .
. . . work. Duh!! I was busy but not busy enough-- never am although I complain about being not busy and people give me work. I can never get enough-- I love to be busy.
Tonight, after work, we went out with a group of us to celebrate one of guy's daughter surviving her appendectomy. It was actually a fairly scary tale since this is his only child and it was her first serious illness. They all survived, of course, but he spent two nights in the hospital with her-- he's a good dad, and we all gave him an "Awwww" for his work at keeping her feeling safe in a secure surrounding.
Then, I came home where a happy Lucy and Brian greeted me giving me lots of kisses from both of them.
So it'll be an interesting week as we wind down into the end-o-quarter fun that we usually have at the end-o-quarters. I'll keep you posted if anything weird happens, of course.
Thanks for stopping by and your patience. Take care and have a good evening.
