Much Done!!!

I actually got a lot accomplished today: between last night and this morning, I pieced the quilt for Debra from my office in California (she's pregnant with her second and I thought I'd make a quilt this time).  It has come out really nice but I've got the quilting part to do yet-- that always seems to be the hardest and most time-consuming bit of the process.  Pictures when its finished, of course!

This morning, I had to run out to get some fabric so I stopped at a local pet store.  I just love to cuddle with the puppies even though I don't want one of my own.  We will rescue again when we're ready to get a second dog but puppies are sooooo sweet!!

Lucy gets really mad at me when I get home but I can't help it and, after I change my shirt and wash my face and hands, she tends to forgive me at least enough to nap with me.

Oh, well, more sewing time tomorrow or maybe some painting for the ornaments?

Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!

Could it get any worse?

So much for the concept of "daily blog", eh?  Yeah, well-- I don't remember Wednesday but I know I was busy and then, last night, we lost our cable connection sooooo, that means no post here.

Progress Toward Healing

Basically, thanks to everyone for emails and prayers and wishes and happy thoughts about and for my sister.  For the moment, she seems to have had a day or two without a surgery and that is a very good thing.  My brother-in-law wrote in an email yesterday that Sue "yelled" at him about something and he was happy-- you bet!!  I'd be ecstatic if she yelled at me!!

Thank goodness-- it sounds like heling is finally going to come to her!  My sister, Karen, is all set to go down there next week and help with Susan when she gets out of the hospital-- good news all around, eh?

Busy Week

It has been a busy week at the office.  Long and arduous negotiations and it has been unreasonably tougher this week.  We're training a new negotiator for the federal group so I'm doing two regions PLUS training which always adds a lot.  Carol, the new person, will be taking over federal next week entirely-- I see no reason that she shouldn't-- so that'll ease some of my load, gratefully.

Weekend Plans

This weekend appears to be mostly a sewing/hobby weekend.  I've got a lot of projects that I'd like to get done before I go to Brazil in August... some of them relate to my trip to California.  Needless to say, I've got a lot of stuff to get done between now and then.  At any rate, I'm looking forward to a sewing weekend since it seems like its been awhile since I've done this-- oh, yeah, it was five days ago!! ;>)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!

Late

I was waiting on another update about my sister tonight-- she had yet another surgery (yes, the 4th in three weeks and second in the last two days!!) today.  The pancreas has been bleeding since the surgery on May 14 when it was nicked by the surgeon in Bauru.  He thought it would heal on its own but it hasn't and, in fact, it was causing Sue some problems so the doctor in Sao Paulo went in to fix it today.

The first attempt was to do the repair/drainage from the outside without an anesthesia but that didn't work.  Unfortunately, that meant that they had to use a general anesthesia on her-- again!!  Apparently, she had a bit of a reaction to the anesthesia but is back in her room in ICU-- good news!!  Whew!!!

This is so scary-- I don't like the idea of what she's going through but I know that I'm not under a fraction of the stress that her husband, Bill, being at her side, is under as she goes through each surgery, let alone, staying in the hospital.  Please continue to pray for strength and healing for Sue and patience and strength for Bill-- thanks for your support so far, too.

Take care and have a good evening!

BOOOOOO-ring!!

That's why I haven't posted-- just cuz there's nothing going on!!!  Friday night, I was exhausted and Saturday, after getting my hair "fixed", I came home and was tired and by that evening, I was coping with the effects of a flu-like bug.  Not fun!  Sunday was more of the same with some vegging time thrown in because I needed it. As a result, in a nutshell, there you have it:  the reason(s) for my not posting for three days.  Sorry!  I'll try to better, honest.

Details of Susan's Condition

Last Monday, we had sketchy details at best about my sister's condition.  As time has progressed, we've gotten more information which, from the stand point of knowing what's going on is a Good Thing but, from the standpoint of knowing what's going on is a Scary Thing.

First, last Monday she went into the hospital in Bauru because they thought she had a stomach virus but, that turns out was a major infection resulting from the surgery that she'd had on the 14th.  By Tuesday evening, the doctors decided that the best thing to do for her would be to move her by ambulance to Sao Paulo-- big city, big medicine.

On Wednesday afternoon, the doctors in Sao Paulo did a surgery to put an antibiotic "pack" in her abdomen where the infection was along with removing a portion of her small intestine, draining excess fluid from the incision area and from the pancreas.  Not pleasant, needless to say.

She's had a really hard time the last few days and, this evening, we found out that she had another "surgery" today to insert tubes.  One tube was inserted to drain the incision where the infection was and the other was inserted to re-inflate her lung and then draing that, too (I believe that's how it was explained to me).  Whew!!  That poor girl!!!

She apparently looks better than she has in a couple of days but that makes sense since she's now breathing better than she has for a few days.  She is expected to be in the hospital for at least anothe week or so and then my sister, Karen (that was just here to see us in April) will be traveling to Brazil to take care of Sue for a few weeks.

Eventually, Karen will go with them back to Bauru but they have a house that they can stay at after getting out of the hospital.  That's good news-- that gives her a few weeks to continue the healing process before she has to travel again.

In the meantime, thanks for your prayers, emails, support and please continue to think happy thoughts, pray a prayer or two and whatever for her continued healing.

Thanks for stopping by-- we'll see how the week goes, eh?

Have a good evening!
