As noted below, I definitely had a different and VERY pleasant ending play out to my day yesterday, eh?
NOW you must know/understand why I've been so stressed lately . . . I knew all of this was going on and I was worried that it wouldn't go through . . . again!
I've been getting a lot of phone calls from headhunters and recruiters lately; I think that the group from whom I am taking the seminars sells the lists to them. Anyway, I've been getting a lot of calls and they were telling me what I could get on the open market which, frankly, fell considerably short of where I was getting paid. Among other things, on Tuesday I mentioned this to the director . . . she was the one who called me last night.
Yeah, maybe I'll have to wear unmatching shoes the next time I want to get a raise??? It could be the charm!!
Other Stuff
I've been working on my sewing rather than in the garden because it is now too wet. At the present time, it has stopped raining and the sun is very brightly shining. Since we still won't be able to get into the garden until tomorrow, at the earliest, I've been working on my sister's wall-hanging. I've got about half of the quilting done and I'm having lots of fun with that-- there are lots of stitches to play with on my Designer One!!
In case you're thinking its another play day for me, you'll be happy to know that the fourth load of laundry is also in the washer right now. I haven't been completely lazy!! ;>)
I may put up another post later but, if not, have a great day and evening!
Friday, March 5, 2004One Of THOSE Days!!
I'm sure you know what I mean: I had gotten to the office ON TIME (for a change) this morning (okay, I was a little late but I turned on the overhead lights so I was there first as far as the rest of 'em are concerned!) and decided that I would leave early to get my new glasses (Yeah, I know-- great logic, eh?). I constantly check my email from home anyway so I wasn't going to be missing anything much by leaving a little early.
Well, first thing ya know, a demanding sales rep (okay, he wasn't really obnoxious, screaming or insidious or anything like that-- he just showed up at my door) comes to my office with an ashenly white face (how's that for a double-take??). He starts telling me that if he doesn't get this ONE order in, he'll be fired this month. Okay, so I don't know if he's exaggerating or not but, since I kinda like the guy, I tell him I'll do what I can-- bearing in mind that I'm going to leave early to get my new glasses.
He frowns at me. "I've gotta get the proposal to the customer and I'll need your input today." Okay, so I'm waiting for the punchline . . . "I don't have all of the input and approvals yet so I don't know when I'll get it finished."
In human speak, that's: "You aren't leaving until this puppy is done and out the door so make sure you make some other arrangements to get your new glasses."
Alrighty-then.
Since I don't normally take a lunch hour, I decided to leave at 10:30 and go get my glasses, make a stop at the JoAnn's and get weighed in at the same time. My glasses are fine-- they're progressive lenses again so there isn't much to get used to this time. They're also made with a "Transition" coating but so far, I don't notice much of a difference.
I got the things I needed at the fabric store and, made my way over to the Center to be weighed in for today. My weigh in? I'm never happy-- until it says "0.0" when I get on the scale, I will NOT be happy!!!
The worst part: When I went to put my shoes back on, I noticed THEN that I had two DIFFERENT shoes!!!!
Oh, ARGH!!! Does that say enough for you?
I thought so . . . have a better night than I probably will!
MAJOR UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the past two years, I have been trying to get a promotion to "Contracts Manager". Tonight, I got the call: I am NOW a Contracts Manager at my company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thursday, March 4, 2004Gettin' Better
My stress level is dropping-- I can feel it going away. That's a VERY Good Thing, needless to say. By Saturday, I should be sleeping normally--hopefully.
Let me tell you about my week:
Monday: On my way home from work, I dropped all of my library books off-- "Kinsey Millhone" has been returned to the Prince George's County Public Library system. I read "Q is for Quarry" on Sunday finishing it up about mid-evening. Wanna hear something fun? I finally guessed the ending to the story right!!! It only takes 16 books to get the case-cracking theories right!!
As for sleeping . . . I was a wreck-- I slept about three minutes and worried like crazy the whole time that I wasn't sleeping.
Tuesday: I awoke and got ready for work, dressing up a bit more than normal. The director and Judy-equivalent came to the office and we had several nice little chats throughout the day. Not everything is settled on this stuff yet so I can't tell you what's happening but, I do have John in my corner so that helps.
Tuesday evening, we went to dinner at the Sly Horse Tavern, having a wonderful meal and a fun time. After dinner, I drove the corporate folks back to their hotel and went home, exhausted.
Wednesday: The corporate folks went back to corporate on Wednesday so we had a pretty normal day at the office with the exception of the fact that Judy is leaving and we had, yet another, going away party for her. There's only one more-- next week. I actually got home fairly early from that one but, I was still much more stressed even though I did manage to put up a bit of a post there.
That's my week so far-- yes, I'm still tired but its getting better.
More on the topic of "Work" as confidentiality allows.
That really has to be all for tonight-- I'll get to my "Ideas" page over the weekend, I think.
Thanks for stopping by-- have a good evening!
Wednesday, March 3, 2004Remiss
Obviously, that's me. The stress of the last two weeks has taken its toll on me. Monday night I didn't sleep well and Tuesday was very stressful with the corporate folks in our office. I'm still tired and fried so there isn't going to be much here tonight.
My apologies but I appreciate you stopping by anyway and, yes, I'm fine. We'll shoot for a major catch-up tomorrow night, okay? Thanks!
Have a good evening.
