My Mistake!
I forgot to update my link so you may not know that I did post yesterday. Its down here if you want to see it.
Vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm on vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a little excited about it, okay? Its not that I haven't had a full solid week off in a long tme (okay, maybe it is) but its also because my sister and her husband are coming in for the week!!!!! It has been since 1999 that they last visited us and, in the meantime, we went to Michigan like three or four times soooooo, they had to come here this time. PLUS, they've got to see the house, don't they? You bet!!
I set up the rest of my schedule for the year's vacation time today, too-- Right now, I've got 3 weeks plus 5 sick days which I can use as vacation time if I don't get sick. Then, in December, I'll start accruing 4 weeks plus the 5 sick days-- sweet, eh? Yeah, that's what I thought!
Because I'm off with my sister here, we'll be posting (she and I) a "journal" of our days' travels as we go about visiting the DC area. Should be lots of fun, eh?
Well, I've gotta go start some trouble-- take care, thanks for stopping by and have a good evening.
Thursday, April 1, 2004Working From Home
Both Lee and I are working from home today. I was at the office until 9:30; Lee was still there. This afternoon, we have an off-site (sanctioned and suggested by the director so I will NOT be feeling guilty about it-- yeah, right!). I've got a contract where the work is supposed to start this afternoon at 1pm but, if it doesn't get signed by the customer today, the work cannot happen until . . . some other time, yet to be determined.
The customer was holding the contract over my head for the end of quarter-- it wasn't a big deal by any stretch of the imagination-- but that has now back-fired on her. If she requires a counter-signed contract before the contract is official, we're not going to make the 1pm deadline. Why, you ask, when it is only 9am? Because it has to go to California to get signed-- today. Yesterday, I could've taken exception to the fact that it was end-of-quarter and the contract needed to be executed. Today, it is just another customer paper contract that I can't sign-- Lee can't either and the sales rep is not a happy camper.
Rules were meant to be broken but not in the first month after they've been provided, okay?
Anyway, I'm tired and I've got a bunch of loose ends to tie up before I'm off for a week-- I'm really looking forward to that week off. Beside the fact that my sister and her husband are coming for a vacation, _*I*_ will be getting a vacation, too. I need that after all of the stress of the past six months!
Probably more later . . . have a good day!
Back to the 2nd . . .
Tuesday, March 30, 2004Up and At It Early
I was at work a little after 7:30 today and was busy all day! It is amazing-- Lee and I are both cranking out the work and we're only covering our regions with no over-flow coming from the area that was formerly covered by Judy. (Since I'm covering the Federal group that was formerly Judy's in addition to my own region, the Southeast, I'm particularly busy!)
My afternoon and evening went by as quickly as the rest of the day-- I made a stop at the Center to weigh in and then went on to Columbia to get my dear DeJuan back from the repair shop. All problems seem to be fixed including a cleaning which is always good to have done periodically. Tonight, I'm finally able to finish the towel that I was working on at the time of its untimely illness-- two weeks later!
I've got a couple of towels to do before my sister arrives and, I'd like to finish some cushions that I'm working on for Judy's sister-- I don't like working with upholstery but I will do it when necessary. Mary got "lost" and I took over-- its a good thing, too.
Anyway, I'm going to get back to it so if you'll excuse me, thanks for stopping by! Have a good evening!
Monday, March 29, 2004I'm Back . . . Sort of . . .
I haven't been posting because of two reasons: 1) Sally-- losing her hurt a lot but because of 2), I haven't allowed myself to mourn yet and 2) work is really, really busy.
Sally . . . thanks to all of you who have written emails and sent cards of condolences. She really was our sweet "dogter" and, as such, her loss has had a huge impact on us. I don't ever remember being as close to a pet as I was with her-- she's such a sweetheart and so loving with me and Brian.
I have to tell you something that has impressed me the most, however: The veterinary hospital that we use!!
Highway Veterinary Hospital has been supportive with Sally from Day One but, add to it, the emotional support that we received last Saturday, as well as the sympathy card we received from them, and we are overcome with gratitude. The card that they sent has a note of condolence written by each of the staff that has ever treated her-- approximately 12 to 15 people over all! Isn't that amazing? When we opened it, we were both floored but the time that it took them to write that and the good feelings that it gave us in support of our decision (which was the hardest thing we've ever had to do).
Today, we received another piece of information: the hospital staff made a donation to Morris Animal Foundation in Sally's name! These people are amazing!! They didn't have to do that yet they did-- another way of remembering our dear girl.
Needless to say, I can whole-heartedly recommend these folks not only from a during-care standpoint but also in after-care. They are phenominal!!
Other than that . . .
My job is extremely busy due to the quarter-end! I've been working 12 to 14 hour days and the rest of this week is going to be hectic and sporadic as far as posts here are concerned.
This weekend, my sister and her husband are coming to stay with us for a week. I'm taking the week off from my job as well and the three of us (and sometimes the 4 of us when Brian can come along) will be playing tourist. Should be a lot of fun.
Bear with me yet this week and we'll hope for more frequent posts thereafter.
Thanks for stopping by and again, for your expressons of sympathy and understanding. This has been a real revelation for me as for expanding the community in this virtual universe.
Have a good evening!
