Finished!

I finished my sister's wall-hanging tonight.  I'm glad-- there's always a bit of concern about finishing a project but, it is finished!!

Now, there are only three weeks to wait for her reaction-- she and her husband (this is my sister, Karen and her husband, Ron) will be visiting us for a week.  We are definitely excited about their visit!!  Giving her the "Christmas Gift" is only one highlight of our week together, I'm sure.

Procrastination

After about two minutes deliberation, I decided to put off getting the pots ready for planting.  Its too early to plant anyway (and I don't have the bulbs, either) so I might as well wait.  That's why I spent most of my day sewing-- lots of fun on that front, though.

Pretty boring other than that-- tomorrow will be our usual errands and then, getting ready for another week of double-duty!

Whew!  I can hardly wait!

Have a good evening!

Long Week

It has been an incredibly long and tiring week.  There's a lot of work with handling the two regions-- a lot more on top of that because of the end of the quarter.  It is going to be a very long month!!

Plantings Ahead

The planting of seeds inside and clearing of pots outside which will cover our day tomorrow probably.  My friend, Pat, gave me a gift certificate at DutchGardens.com from which I ordered some bulbs.  Now I've got to decide which pots to use-- yes, we have some large pots that will work for some of the bulbs.  Because we have this huge deck, I really want to put a variety of flowers on the deck in addition to the herbs that will grow in the pots again.

Almost Finished

The next thing on the agenda over the weekend will be finishing up my sister's wall-hanging.  I'm just about finished with the quilting-- I'm now working in the borders themselves.  Then, of course, there will be the binding to put on and sewing that down but then, it will be finished with, from the sounds of it, plenty of time to spare!

Next on the agenda is a little upholstery work for my friend (and former manager), Judy.  Her sister started to reupholster the cushions for a love seat but became confused half-way through the project so she stopped.  That's just as well . . . I'll start over again but it is going to take some time.

I finished the last of the "new" books that I have-- Donna Andrews "We'll Always Have Parrots".  Hmmm, now I'm out of things to read again . . . I'll survive.  As usual, we'll have our work and fun cut out for us this weekend.  I do enjoy weekends so much though-- hope you have a nice evening and weekend, too!

Weird Feeling

As I drove into the District today, I turned onto North Capitol and realized-- big as life-- why it was called "North Capitol".  I was staring at the dome of the Capitol.  That's a really cool building, ya know?

Sometimes I still find it completely amazing and surprising that we're here.

Exceedingly Tired

It has been a very long week and I am extremely ready for a weekend.  I was going to work from home tomorrow but, being an end-of-quarter-month, it is a little too busy to accommodate the "out of touch" feeling that working from home gives you.  So, I decided that I would go into the office tomorrow and wait to work from home until April.  There's just too much work-- lots to get used to, eh?

So tomorrow is another day and another dollar-- yep, I got a raise (I didn't mention that, did I?)-- no more of this 75-cents-an-hour stuff for me!!

Have a good evening!!

Wednesday??

It doesn't feel like a Wednesday-- it feels like a Monday or, at best, a Tuesday.  The problem with the new job is the amount of work there is-- I was "late" leaving the house this morning because I had to check email before I left.  Then, when I got home, I found that I only received 34 new messages which isn't that much when you realize that I was "out of the office" for a full day.  Friday is not going to be fun-- I can tell.

Sally's Not Well

Sally and I went to the vet last night-- only one of us needed to "see" him (you can figure that out, I'm sure).  She has an infection which has her on antibiotics and those antibiotics are not making her feel very well.  Last night, she vomited on the floor of my office but tonight she didn't bother to eat dinner-- saves on the clean-up, I suppose.

There's a follow-up appointment next week so hopefully, "we" can make it that long.  Brian and I are both trying to give her lots of attention to make up for not feeling well.  Poor baby.

New Reads

I've finished "Crouching Buzzard, Leaping Loon" by Donna Andrews over the weekend and have moved on to "We'll Always Have Parrots"-- these are fun books that Donna Andrews has written!  After this?  Well, there's always the FAR clauses (a Federal government publication that is being tossed about-- ever so carefully-- in my seminar.

Thanks for stopping by and spending some time here today-- I appreciate it.  Have a good evening!

Off-Guard

I'm sure that's the way you feel-- caught off-guard.  I didn't expect to post this early either but, it may be the only way that I have enough energy to type as much as I need to tell you about!

First off, on my job front, things are much busier!  I like being busy-- I hate sitting around getting paid for not doing anything (as odd as that may sound!).  I've got at least two contracts to modify (one on "customer paper" and the other on our paper) and a bunch of other little things to answer on email.  It promises to be another day like yesterday only a slightly busier one, I hope.

Second, last week when corporate was here, Lee applied for Judy's job in hopes of getting them to allow her to act as manager until they decided who they were going to hire.  Well, they decided: Lee.  SOOOOO, Lee is now my manager-- that's a Good Thing.  Its called "The Known Quantity".  I know what she's like and I can easily handle reporting to her and, as much as possible, trying to make her life having to report to corporate, easier as well.

At first she was thinking she would only accept the "Acting Manager" position but, she also saw the logic of going for the full position because of the concept of not knowing who else they would hire for the position.  It could end up being a bad situation for us if they hired "the wrong person".

We still have to hire a person to handle the far northeast region (New England) but, that will be easier than finding someone to be a manager.  If you know anyone in the DC area that negotiates commercial software contracts, email me as soon as possible!!

Other Stuff

Realizing that I promised an "Idea Page", I've been thinking about the concept and I want to accomplish with the page.  There are things that I've been making that are "sellable" and so I'm going to do that-- I've taken pictures of things that I'm going to market and see where it takes me.

In the meantime, I'm going to have Brian help me make the page because there are some interesting things I want added to it, like an ordering mechanism!   I've gotten a new shipment in of my supplies so I can make all kinds of things now!

More Later

It is awfully early as I write this-- 7am!!  I'm sure I'll have more to report later but I wanted to get this up while I have the energy.  I'll try to check back in tonight.

Take care and have a great day!

Hard Day

I'm really tired tonight-- lots going on at the office.  Needless to say, I'm a lot busier than I was last week!!  My apologies but I'm going to cut this short-- just wanted to say "Thanks!" to everyone who has written to congratulate me-- it is appreciated.  Once again, the community has come through!!

Come back tomorrow night, and I'll try to have a "better" post.

Thanks for stopping by-- have a good evening!
