Or whatever . . . I'm here. I wasn't last night because I was really tired after running errands after work. I didn't get home from the errand running until 8pm and then, I still had to have dinner-- luckily, only vegetables-- and, of course, it was "CSI" night: gotta watch it!
Busy Week
Well, I've had a busy week! Work has been a little off kilter because of the NYC trip but, at least its over. Much busier today-- I'm trying to start remembering to do a monthly report. I used to do one a long time ago but, we dropped it once I moved out to the east coast. Lee has started it up again because she likes to have an idea of what we (my co-horts to be hired) are doing. Good idea, really but, I forgot last month so that's not a good thing.
Other than that . . .
I'm trying to find a specific design or two to run on this wall-hanging I'm working on but so far, no luck. I'll keep working on it-- I'm sure to find one some where. Tomorrow is house-cleaning day. We haven't deep-cleaned since my sister came out (we're relatively neat/clean people so it isn't usually an issue) but, it is due sooooo, to the Swiffer I go.
Speaking of going, I'm going to-- thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Wednesday, May 19, 2004I'm Baaa-aack . . .
Yep, here I am again-- I survived my trip to "The Big Apple" and had a wonderful time and accomplished a lot of things while I was there. Recap? Sure . . . at least a brief one.
Monday morning we left on the train and arrived in NYC at our appointed hour. We hit a restaurant in Penn Station so we wouldn't have to leave again after we got to the office. We worked in the office for a couple of hours and went to the hotel to check in and get settled. We met downstairs at 6:15 and went to have drinks across the street and then, we headed over to Oceo to meet the general counsel for dinner.
We had a lovely dinner with our GC and had a nice conversation ranging from legal issues to houses and yoga. Afterward, we stopped in a pub next to the hotel for a quick night-cap.
On Tuesday, we went to the office and set up shop in offices "borrowed" from regular employees. They were very accommodating to all of the visitors that were in the office considering there were a high number of "big guys" in from corporate. Lee went back to the hotel to change when I was in talking with the GC so, after I finished that up, I went back to the hotel to drop off my computer. We then headed off in our separate directions for lunches and plans were made to meet back up at the Four Seasons Hotel (yes, that Four Seasons Hotel) for the analysts' meeting.
We listened to a couple of hours of the presentations but then Lee and I left to go do our "Quarterly Outing" which was an audio tour through the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There were a number of exhibits that we saw including "The Masters", Japanese Art, and the Matisse collection-- just fantastic!!
After leaving the museum, Lee and I stopped for a bottle of Pelligrino and an appetizer at Melrose, which is part of the Stanhope Park Hyatt in New York. A lovely little cafe where we debriefed and then, we moved on to the Tavern On The Green.
What a fabulously wonderful restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beautifully appointed and decorated, of course, with a wonderful but not obnoxious use of pastels, ornate moldings and colorful chanedliers!!!!!!! Possibly the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been in BUT, it didn't just look good-- the food was equally FABULOUS!!!! I had a filet mignon that melted in my mouth!!!!! It was superior!!!
After dinner, we went by the Bryant Park Grill for after dinner drinks since we had passed up the dessert tray at the Tavern. Good choice-- looking at the desserts go by made me gain 10 pounds!!
Anyway, as I was told by several folks, there was a time when there was nothing but druggies in Bryant Park but its been cleaned up, along with the rest of the city, and is now a beautifully peaceful setting to enjoy a glass of wine or picnic.
We went back to the hotel at a decent hour-- 9:45pm-- and I called Brian before checking my email and going to bed.
This morning I awoke, went downstairs for breakfast, back upstairs to work and then, met up with Lee, as we had planned in the lobby. We went next to the hotel for lunch and then headed off to the train station.
That's it in a nutshell-- okay, so its a walnut-- fine!!!
My Sister Susan
I just spoke with Susan again-- she's doing well in her recovery. She's getting lots of rest and all kinds of folks are bringing by soups and stuff for her.
By the way, a bit of good news for me is that I'll be going to Brazil later this summer!!! The GC and I spoke at length about what needs to be done and, I'm all for taking a more pro-active role in the office there.
Soooo many things have happened and changed in a matter of days, eh? Yep, tons-o-fun!!!
I'm going to go pay some attention to Brian and Lucy-- we have a mutual "missing each other" society going on over here, let me tell ya!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
