Both Brian and I are doing our best to be a bit lazy today. I'm succeeding less at it because I'm doing the laundry but, nonetheless, we're working on it.
A few weeks ago when I was on vacation, I saw a demonstration on "Simply Quilts" (HGTV, of course) for "Flower Pounding". For the past year, we've been trying to find a painting or print or something that would work for over the low dresser in our bedroom. I thought that doing this sort of thing would work and we could frame one big "picture" and two smaller "pictures" for hanging above the dresser. I tried it and, with a little coersion, made the sunflower work but I didn't like the way the rest of it came out. I'm going to try it again tomorrow with a few of the flowers dried out overnight-- so far, they've been a bit blotchy and don't look like flowers (except for the sunflower).
The next thing that I'm going to work on is my sewing and running a few more designs on t-shirts since I have DeOne back and up and running. I'm going to also work on my in-laws Christmas gift so I can get working on the rest of my Christmas gifts-- nary a dull moment around here!
Tomorrow, Ebony will be coming over for an introduction to Molly. Later next week, he'll be coming over for a 10-day stay starting next week while Jim and Lee go to Minnesota for her brother's memorial service and take a few extra days for themselves. I know there won't be a problem between Molly and Ebony-- Molly is so much less proprietary than Lucy-- but Lee wants to make sure they'll get along while they're gone.
That's about it for today-- thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Thursday, November 4, 2004Blues State?
Nope, cuz I am in a Blue State-- its allllll of you Red States that have to worry about "It". If I had to take a wild guess? My guess would land on "Ohio" as being the first target of opportunity for the next Osama target-- that could've gone either way and, for him, it went the wrong way. Interesting speculation, eh?
Home Again, Home Again
DeOne is home!!! Yeah!!!! You know the really neat part? Having worked at the Columbia store for Viking, I can tell you that the starting price for repairs is $79.95 (and that was over a year ago when I left their employ). The price to fix AND clean my sewing machine? $71.25!!! At the Viking store, you would pay extra for a cleaning but, "since he had open anyway", the repairman did it for free-- FREEEEEE!!!! Unheard of in this day and age, don'tcha think?
Where did this miracle of modern, convenient and economical repair take place? At Tomorrow's Treasures in Crofton, MD-- I'll tell you, if you have a Viking sewing machine and you live anyWHERE near these folks, you should give them a call. The service was wonderful and, of course, Tomorrow's Treasures, is fun to stroll around in, too!!
I've gotta go get DeOne set up so I'll be signing off now-- take care and thanks for stopping by! Have a good night!
Tuesday, November 2, 2004Suspense!
The suspense is killing me!! I sooooo terribly want G.W. out of office-- I cannot wait for the results to start coming in on the news. I know-- I'm hopeful but not overly optimistic since there are way toooo many people that are fooled by G.W. to be completely hopeful. Well, we'll all see the results eventually.
This morning the lines were horrendous! I went at 6:45 to the catholic church (yes, I know-- wonderful image of "separation of church and state", eh?) but couldn't get in the parking lot and the street was full for a quarter mile in each direction and on both sides of the street. I decided I needed another cup so I went up the road a bit and got a cup of coffee. I came back a little over a half hour later and was able to find a parking space in the lot. Then, the waiting started: I got in line at 7:25am and got in the building at about 8:30am! Then, it was another half hour to the voting booth itself! I couldn't believe it!! Even with my driver's license, change-of-address from DMV and voter registration, they had a hard time finding me. The people that work these tables are over-paid and under-educated!! Yeesh!! I finally got to work about 9:30 and I was early!
It is an amazing turnout and I'm proud of America for coming out in droves to vote for who or whatever it is they vote for in this election! YAAAYYYY for US!!!
Sickie
Did I mention that DeOne is sick? (That's my Designer One in case you've forgotten its name.) I've been embroidering Christmas gifts and t-shirts and it finally gave up the ghost on Saturday evening-- not a good thing for me. I miss him!! They tell me that he'll probably be back tomorrow night but for sure by Thursday-- man, even though I have the other machine, I sure miss the Big One!!
Other than that, the weather has been gorgeous the past few days-- reminder of why I like living here!
Anyway, that's all for tonight-- thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Monday, November 1, 2004Thought About It
I almost came back to post on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but decided that you could live without the drivel. Perhaps, I was wrong? No, I think not.
Brian had a good idea yesterday of putting a box of candy out and, with a "when its gone, its gone" attitude. We put the picture of Molly on the door with a sign that asked not to have them ring the bell or disturb the dogs. It worked, too-- we talked with our neighbors a bit but mostly just did what we would've done on any other Sunday night. The dogs only went mildly berserk with the people making noise outside which isn't bad, all things considered.
Catch Up
Let's see . . . Friday: I didn't have a negotiation but I did have a contract to review where the customer's attorney had reviewed our standard format. It wasn't too bad really-- only required a 16-point email from me. Today I had a negotiation call with them and, for an attorney, he was a nice guy to work with . . . ;>) Actually, the deal should be done later this week-- it really is a good negotiation.
Saturday: I went to JoAnn's to return some fabric: yes, I know-- it took awhile for Brian to regain consciousness on that one, too. Then, I came home and sewed and sewed and sewed.
Sunday, we ran errands and, after that, I went to the store to do some early Christmas shopping (found something for him already!) and to pick up a few things that I needed from the crafts stores. Not exciting, really but alas, such is our life.
Anyway, I'm going to sign off early tonight so I can relax before I have to think about canceling out my sister's vote tomorrow . . . DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!
Have a good evening
