I have posted allllllll week!! YEAH!! How about that? Are you shocked? Amazed? Surprised? Yeah, I know-- meeeee, too!!!
After our usual grocery run, we stopped back home for a couple of hours and then went to see my FABULOUS singing friend, Linda Rose Payne in A Broadway Christmas Carol. She is a superb songstress with a wonderful vocal range and, if I must say so myself, an impressive facial repertoire. She has the ability to sing while gritting her teeth and sing beautifully while doing it! It is sooo fun to see someone you know performing their heart out!!!
We stopped at a bookstore on our way home and, before I go watch Cold Case, I'm going to settle down and look at a quilting encyclopedia that I bought on the bargain rack. I love quilt books!
So, that's it for me-- have a good evening!
Saturday, December 4, 2004Kinda
I'm kinda tired and kinda . . . bored? I don't feel like doing the Christmas tree (even though Brian is setting it up). Never fear, it is my job to decorate it (or at least it has been in the past).
I did a little mending/sewing this afternoon. Our Christmas cards for next year spurred me into the idea for our gift cards and certificates for this year. I wanted to try the experiment so I did. It worked-- they are adorable and you'll just have to wait until next year to see them for yourself. I'll make the majority of them up over the next year so that they're ready for mailing but, this year, you just get the boring store-bought cards. I've gotta get through the stash of those first!
Other than that . . .
Nothing major is happening. The dogs went to the vet without incident (Lucy is in perfect health except for needing to lose about 4 pounds). Believe it or not, Molly pulled on her harness so hard that she somehow managed to cut herself. Not badly though since it stopped bleeding pretty easily and she's stopped licking at it.
News for me is in the offing but, alas, it is too early for me to talk about it. Hopefully, next week I'll be able to let you in on it.
That's it for now--thanks for stopping by and, no, I haven't forgotten: Happy Birthday to my niece, Faye!
Have a good one!
Friday, December 3, 2004Nuttin' Much
There isn't much going on around here. I've got Christmas gifts to finish tomorrow along with a hair appointment for me and vet appointments for The Girls. Christmas decorations will happen this weekend if we have time for them. More important are the Christmas cards but I have to dig them out of the boxes of decorations before we can send them out. Maybe we'll have to bring everything in to find the things that we need for NOW and move on to the other stuff later in the week. We'll see.
Other than that, as boring as this may seem, it is all I have to post today. Hope you have a great one!

I think that about sums that up, don't you?
Excellent Idea
Yesterday when I was on my hands-n-knees picking up the glass from the window, I kept thinking: "If only I could bring the vacuum out here!" I thought better of it-- even Gil Grissom would give Brian "Justifiable Homicide" for that one! Thankfully, John Dominik had a REALLY good idea: Use the Shop Vac!!!
Well, DUH!!
Boy, last night, I thought I picked up MOST of the glass-- was I _*EVER*_ wrong!!!! I'm pretty sure that the shop vac is full (I'll leave that for Brian to empty!) but NOW I've got 95% of the glass picked up! Yeesh!! I hate wind storms!!
That is, however, the "joy" of being a home owner-- no more calling the landlord to get someone else to pick up the glass. Believe me, with the tax deduction we'll get (need) next year with the mortgage, I'm ever more glad that we're home owners and I don't have to call a landlord!!
I'm going to warm up and then take a shower. That'll about do me for the night though . . . I'm outta here!
Have a good one!
Wednesday, December 1, 2004That Was Fun
When I got home tonight, the gate to the backyard was open-- not surprising since we'd had a lot of wind. I shut and locked the gate, dragged in the trash container and let myself into the house. After tripping my way to the security system and punching in the code, I let the dogs outside. I began to follow them; I was going to put a bag of stones up against the gate to keep it from blowing open.
When I walked onto the deck, I noticed small shards of glass ALLLLL over the place! I couldn't figure out what happened . . . I got the dogs back in the house and started to sweep up the deck. I kept looking around, trying to figure out what broke-- the glass around the outdoor lights was in tact and the glass patio table was also okay. I looked to my right and there was what looked like a vent cover. A vent cover? I looked up and saw the roof on the shed (right below the master bath window) and there were shards of glass there, too. Uh-oh . . . Houston, I think we have a problem.
I spent the next hour on my hands and knees picking up the glass that I could find in the fading light. The motion detector light kept going off because I wasn't moving enough (there were a lot of shards in the grass!) to keep it lit. Every once in awhile I would swing my arms around to start up the light again-- this was lots of fun, as I'm sure you can imagine.
The good news is that I probably picked up 60-80% of the glass on the ground-- we'll just have to keep The Girls out of there until we have more daylight to find the rest of it. Of course, that's easier said than done.
Needless to say, I'm beat so I'm going to close this off.
Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Tuesday, November 30, 2004Not What I Expected
The day was a little slower than I had anticipated at work. I really thought I'd be swamped with catching up from being off and because it was the end of the month. Nothing major happened even though a couple of contracts were finished up today. That's nice and, of course, a good way to start the end-o-quarter/end-o-fiscal year month! Let the games begin! I can hardly wait!
While that doesn't seem like much, it is-- there just isn't a lot going on right now which is/can be a good thing.
Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Monday, November 29, 2004Minor Screw-Up
When Lee agreed to let me have today off, she didn't realize that it was the second-to-last day of the month. Our month-ends are difficult but, as I had explained to her at the time that she agreed to let me have the day off, she will be covering for me all the previous week anyway. One more day wouldn't make that big of a difference.
Unfortunately, she neglected to write it on her calendar and now says that she doesn't remember the discussion. Of course, I didn't hear that from her until 1pm when I got home from my last doctor appointment today. We talked and sorted things out a bit-- I can't control what she doesn't write down. Oh, well.
Squished
Amongst other things, I had my annual mammogram today-- I hate that, of course. The bone density test was a piece of cake cuz all you have to do is lie there while they run a machine over parts of your body. Pretty interesting but not terribly exciting.
After my doctor appointments, I made a stop to pick up the last of the five books available for the software program I got for Christmas from Brian. Tons-o-fun to be had, let me tell ya!
I guess that's all for tonight-- by the way "Strawberry Shortcake Murder" (by Joanne Fluke) won out last night so I'm into that one now. Take care and have a good evening!
