Archive of Marcia's Musings October 18-24, 2004Plans are Afoot!
Recently I was pondering what to do for my upcoming birthday-- yes, its pretty far away but one must make plans. Anyway, I had contemplated going to Brasil and staying with Marli (free air fare and accommodations). We would hit 25 March Avenue in Sao Paulo and wipe out the stocks of fabric and notions during this trip; maybe hit Embu (a little artsy-n-craftsy town outside of the city), as well. Then, there was the possibility of having a Spa Day which would involve 6 or 7 hours, plus lunch, at the day spa that I like to go to here at home. Then, one other possibility was that I could go to the American Quilt Shown with my cousin Barb so I called her last night to see if she'd be interested in going.
At first, I tried to track down hotel rooms that we could go to there-- an impossibility, believe it or not-- all sold out! So I called her back . . . in the meantime, she had talked with her husband and they re-arranged their travel from Florida schedule to coincide with the quilt show. Yeah!! Okay, so we're going to be staying in her RV (38') in Paducah, Kentucky-- someplace. Hopefully, we'll find something online that'll take a reservation and, if we get there and can't find anything, we'll stay in the Wal-Mart parking lot-- I just want to go!!
Tonight, Barb called me: she's excited-- okay, she's got six months to be excited but, she was so excited last night that she couldn't get to sleep! I can't wait to go: obviously, I've never been and I can't wait to see the show and the museum!!! We'll be there five nights all together so it should be lots of fun!
There's a possibility that her sister, my cousin, Shirley might also come so that would be LOTS of fun! WOW-- a Dykstra Reunion Slumber Party!!!
Usual Stuff
On Friday and Saturday, the usual things happened except that Brian and I went to dinner on Friday night and my cold flared up on Saturday during the day. It seems to be getting better but it is a slow, arduous process.
I've been sewing like a mad woman all weekend so that's why there hasn't been much here. I'll try to be a little more faithful in my posts, okay?
Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Thursday, October 21, 2004Nothing New or Exciting
As a result, there's not much to tell you about here.
We did "celebrate" the first anniversary of being home owners . . . well, okay, mortgagees, really but it was a year ago yesterday that we signed the paperwork. Pretty cool, eh?
Our new negotiator, Don, has an ankle surgery tomorrow-- we're all hoping he comes out okay. Pretty sure he will since he's had two similar surgeries before on the same ankle-- poor guy!
Other than that, as I said, there's not much to talk about so I'll sign off for tonight-- thanks for stopping by and have a good evening.
Wednesday, October 20, 2004Still Recuperating
I know I should be over this but shoulds and ares are completely two different things!!
Marli left on Sunday, obviously, and I got her to the airport at 3:30am-- such fun!! I was home and back in bed by 5:30-- before her plane even took off! The worst part about that is that she left with a cold but shared it with me before she left-- generous woman!
Anyway, I've not been feeling great for the last two days on top of having to go back to work and catch up on all of that which is the reason that I haven't posted anything. Maybe I can get a little more caught up on stuff now-- at least, I'll try.
Thanks for your patience. Have a good evening!
