Archive of Marcia's Musings April 11-17, 2005Yes, I'm Back
For as long as it will last anyway. I'm headed to Paducah, KY on Tuesday morning to meet my cousin at the American Quilt Show-- excited? Me?? NAH!!!! What can I say? I'm not in the least bit excited to be going . . . and if you believe that, I've got some swampland for you in Idaho.
I've got all of my "official entry" stuff ready to roll and just have to finish doing the laundry (today) and pack (tomorrow) and I'll be on my way-- unfortunately, it is literally bright-n-early on Tuesday morning. I have to be at the airport at 5am because my flight leaves at 7am-- I know, poor planning on my part but I was excited about going!!! If I'd paid a little more attention to the times, it would've helped but, its too late now!
In addition to laundry, I need to run designs on t-shirts for someone which is going to end up bringing in $40-- always helpful, eh? It'll help to finance the trip's shopping spree in the Quilt Show!
I'll probably write again tomorrow-- have a good day!
Tuesday, April 12, 2005Much To Do . . . Again
I did finish the quilt and the pillows yesterday. If I can figure out how to download the pictures, I might put them up later. If not, certainly when I get back from Atlanta I should be able to have time to figure it out. Of course, there's always next week, at night, after the Show. I'll probably take my camera and dock with me on that trip but the most I'll be able to do is download them and send the pictures to Brian-- maybe. We're not sure if I have a modem on my home computer-- my cousin has dial-up available-- so if I do, I will be able to send him pictures.
I've got packing to do today. I think I'll be able to use my middle-two suitcases to get my clothes and pillows and quilt in for purposes of transport. Then, on the way back, I'll put the smaller of the two suitcases inside the bigger suitcase and only have one to transport-- that'd be a lot easier. On Friday night when I get home, I'll have Jennifer with me and then "Auntie Jen" can spoil the dogs for a bit before we go to sleep to get ready for the Pinga Party on Saturday night.
Judy, my co-worker, is moving back to California and a bunch of us are getting together to send her off properly. She loved her time in Brasil so it only makes sense to give her a Pinga Party for her return to California. A bunch of people were invited from our past employer but not very many are coming-- that's okay cuz that'll mean more Pinga for the rest of us!
Current & Future Reads
I'm currently reading "Hair Raiser" by Nancy J. Cohen which is the second book in the series "A Bad Hair Day Mystery". I like it but I'm not as captivated as I could be.
By the way, what I'm doing is reading and buying one book in a series by several authors. Then, next fall, when I go on my New England vacation to go to used book stores and quilt shops, I'll buy the balance of the books-- IF they are worthy of being bought. If I don't like them, they aren't worth buying. Should be a lot of fun.
Anyway, I'd better get to it-- take care and have a good three days-- see you on Saturday!
By the way, I forgot to change the date above yesterday so if you didn't see yesterday's post, its here.
Monday, April 11, 2005Contrary to common belief . . .
I am not going to be in Kansas next week... I will be in Paducah, Kentucky, however, for the American Quilt Show!!! I'm meeting my cousin Barb and her husband, Leon in Paducah; they are bringing their 38' motorhomoe that we will camp in at a KOA campground. Everyday, Barb and I will go to the show and museum-- yes, we are excited!!!
That, however, is not the reason that I've not been posting-- I've not been posting because I've been too busy sewing! When I go to Atlanta this week, I need to have four pillows finished for Jennifer (my friend and office manager at my old job's office in Atlanta) and her co-worker and my friend, Angela (Angie is an administrator in the office, too). As a result, I've been sewing like a mad woman to try to get their things done-- I want them to be done because it is cheaper to bring them with me than to ship them separately. I should have the quilt finished today and be able to start on the hand-sewing of the binding. The same with the pillows-- I'll have the last of them put together today and then spend the next two days and evenings sewing them up along with the binding.
Busy? Me? Yes, but not like Brian-- have you seen the pictures of what he did over the weekend? Our deck and garden and lawn are beautiful thanks to all of his hard work!! Unfortunately, I haven't had time to do any of that except for picking out the plants but I haven't had time for much else anyway.
I'd better get to work-- somehow I've got to finance this stuff!
Have a good day!
