Archive of Marcia's Musings December 5-12, 2005Coulda Swore!!!
I coulda swore I put a post yesterday!! I thought about it-- several times as a matter of fact-- but never got around to it . . . apparently.
Let's see what I can do to make up for it:
1. Got some packages sent out yesterday to friends and co-workers containing Christmas gifts.
2. Very nearly finished a quilt-- I'll get the rest of it done today if I'm lucky.
3. Got some Christmas presents wrapped and ALMOST finished the Christmas tree. I dropped and broke a Hungarian ornament just as dinner "beeped" ready in the oven so I left it. Yeah, I know-- I'll finish it and the rest of the decorations over the weekend, I'm fairly sure of it.
Snow?
There was supposed to be a huge snowstorm come through last night. Instead, we only got an inch and now its sunny which means that what's here will be gone by the end of the day-- rats!! I know my sisters are laughing about that-- they never expected me to like snow again.
Seeing Lucy come in with her "Stupid Pet Snow Tricks" is worth the price of admission, let me tell you!
Good Read!!
Somehow, I ran across a book by Edna Buchanan and became enamored with her writing style. She draws you in with complex character and plot development to the point where you [literally] gasp when something unexpected happens. I'm currently reading the "Britt Montero" series but there are stand alone books that she has that are true psychological thriller-type mysteries. An excellent read!!
Oh, well, hopefully, that makes up for missing some of yesterday and enough for today, as well. Hope you have a good one!
Wednesday, December 7, 2005Something About the Snow . . .
. . . that we, as "parents", forgot about until yesterday when Lucy reminded us: Lucy loves the snow!! Above, left and right, are pictures of Lucy upon her return into the house for a trip outside where she "dug" her face into the snow. I don't know why she does this but she comes up with a face/head full of snow. VERY cute!!
Rough Night
I apparently had a rough night last night. I say this based on the fact that (1) I overslept and (2) when I woke up, my glasses which started out the night on the night stand on my side of the bed, were on the floor, bent out of shape. I have no idea what I did but I either need to go get them replaced or have something serious done to them. I'm going to try having Brian "do something serious to them" tonight when he gets home from work. I don't really want to have to buy new glasses right now, ya know?
Thankfully, I have some old glasses and my prescription hasn't changed all that much over the last couple of years. With any luck, I won't end up with a headache by the end of the day.
Guess that's all for now-- have a good one!
Tuesday, December 6, 2005We Got IT!!!
No lots and lots but about 3 inches of snow fell late yesterday afternoon and overnight!! Yes, it looks like I get to be a happy camper!!! Happy except for the part about worrying about Brian driving to work in it. He's a good, safe driver but the idiots around him are what scare me! He's been "ordered" to call me when he gets to the office and then I'll feel better . . . until tonight when he has to drive home!!
O Christmas Tree
Our poor Christmas tree is my last priority! Brian's spread some of the usual decorations around the house and put up the tree, including stringing some wooden beads down the tree-- looks really cool! I put some of the decorations up on Sunday night but got bored after about an hour and quit, promising to go back last night. I didn't make it since I didn't quit sewing until 7pm (on Mondays I usually sew only until 6pm) and I still had dinner and phone calls to make.
It'll get finished eventually. Look at it this way, because of our flight schedule in January, it won't get taken down until the middle of the month so that makes up for it!
I couldn't work out first thing this morning since my local Curves follows the school closing schedule which was delayed by 2 hours. Hopefully, I can get a work-out in later but it depends on how busy it is here at work.
Thanks for stopping by though-- glad you did! Have a great day!
Monday, December 5, 2005Snow?!?!?
We're supposed to be getting our first snow tonight. Of course, they said that about Saturday night, too and I was sorely disappointed! Well, my fingers are crossed!!!
Weekend Activities
Over the weekend, I had time to finish up the bookmarks that I was making for an order that someone placed with me. Its part of the new business that has been pushed into a lower priority-- I have to since I'm spreading myself too thin without it being the kind of thin that I need, i.e., my body!! As a result, I'm putting myself under stress instead of relieving the stress from the day job.
Over the next few weeks, I'm going to make up some bookmarks for my sister (the teacher) to give as rewards to her students. They shouldn't take too long to work up and, there is no rush so that makes a difference.
I'm also going to be making up other "free-standing lace" designs over the next few weeks/months and putting them on display for sale on my other site (being remodeled as we speak) but, that part will be opening up later rather than sooner. You'll see-- eventually.
In the meantime, have a good day!
