Losin' It

I must be-- I could've swore that I posted something here yesterday.  Since I didn't, I'll make up for it by posting something today.

Okay, to begin with, I haven't done a lot of sewing this weekend-- I am working on a crazy patch table cloth for one of the women I used to work with at my last job.  I promised it to her as a Christmas/Birthday present but I didn't say which Christmas or which birthday. I've got a feeling that once I get going on the sewing, it'll go pretty fast because the prep work for it is immense!!

First, I had to sew some muslin-quilted material together to form the batting and backing layer of the table cloth.  Then, I had to draw the placement of the borders and blocks and sashing on it.  Not an easy task even with the Electric Quilt 5 software!  I had to wash it out at least three times but finally, I think I've got it write.

Then I had to cut the blocks out, stack them and whack them so that I got a bunch of different colors going in the blocks to make up the crazy part.  Yes, I'll take pictures as I go along so that you can see what I'm talking about.  I've got almost all of the blocks ready for "appliquing" to the muslin quilting backing but I'm not quite finished.  Then, of course, I'll need to decide the finishes on each block-- believe me, I'll have to take pictures to show you this stuff.

ANYWAY, I've done a lot of reading this weekend, starting and finishing Nancy Martin's "How to Murder a Millionaire" and starting the next and last in the "Hannah Swenson" series by Joanne Fluke.  Coincidentally, I've purchased several of my books recently either from Barnes & Noble used books or from AbeBooks and, of the last ten or so that I've received, three have been signed by the authors-- pretty cool since it wasn't my intention!

Tomorrow is a work day so I'm going to sign off for now-- take care, thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!

New Job Tiredness

Okay and a healthy dose of exercise for the first time in a long time has made me quite the tired girl today!!  Well, actually, last night, too.  I had the chance to write her or finish "May the Best Man Die" by Deborah Donnelly-- guess which one I chose?  Loved it, just like the other three and the new one comes out in April-- I've already got my copy on pre-order and Barnes & Noble!!

I'm getting better at "tolerating" the exercise-- I enjoy it a lot (which is still nuts as far as I can see) but I also don't dread it as much at the same time.  It does me good and I know it-- if only to be able to climb the stairs in the house without breathing difficulties!!

Cars and Insurance

Oh, yeah, I'm really pleased to be dealing with the insurance folks.  Yeah, right-- NAHHH!!!!!  So the appraisal guy comes over on Wednesday and tells us that he thinks the car is totaled but it may not be totaled.  Yeah, I know-- I thought that was rich, too.

I didn't hear anything from anyone yesterday so I called the insurance company again today.  The claims representative has heard from the other company and the guy that hit Brian admits it was his fault.  He told them that he must have looked down and didn't see Brian's car.  Yeah, down the inside of his eyelids!!!

They want to talk to Brian so he'll give them a call on Monday and, in the meantime, the car has been totaled.  No, wait-- it isn't totalled!!  Yeah, that's the way the conversations went today.

So NO, the car is not totalled.  I had it towed away today and they are to start work on it as soon as is humanly possible, or Monday, whichever comes first.  Brian has to go in and sign a paper to authorize the repairs but I think he can manage that one tomorrow.

Other than that, nothing is new and exciting around here . . . THANKFULLY!!!!!

Gotta go get showered-- have a good evening!

Much More Calm

It was a much more calm day today.  No running the dogs around, getting rental cars or finding out Brian's been in an accident.  Nice-n-boring-- just the way I like it!!

On the other hand, it doesn't leave much to talk about here except that I took the time today to "slash" the crazy patch blocks for the tablecloth that I'm going to be making a former co-worker.  I think that with the way that this is going to go together, the only way to keep my sanity is to work a "normal" pieced top at the same time.  As I put this together, I'll take pictures so you can know what I'm talking about.

I'm tired but I want to read for a bit so I'm gonna sign off for now.  Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!

One of THOSE Days on the Sidelines

Well, first off-- I had to take The Girls to the dentist this morning.  Oh, okay, it is really the vet's office but they had to have their teeth cleaned-- their breath was getting to be horrible!!  As I'm leaving, Brian calls me:

He's been in an accident this morning!  The accident was not his fault-- the guy behind him fell asleep!!  It is really scary to hear that your husband has been in an accident though-- I hate that!!!  I hate that he commutes so far but, at least he's a good driver and only dependent on the acts of those around him which, in this case, weren't good.

Other than that, or maybe because of it, I'm a little done in tonight.  We're going to go get the girls in a little while and hopefully, be able totake both of them home.  Molly had a little tumor-like thing removed but it was benign.  She may not be able to come home though if she's still bleeding.  I hope she has stopped bleeding-- it would be so much nicer for her to be around us tonight.

Hope you have a better evening!
