Over the course of the last six weeks, the Curves center that I go to (and perhaps the whole franchise-- I don't know) has been having a "challenge" of sorts. You needed to go to the club for three work-outs per week (not a problem for me) and keep track of your food (also not a problem for me), in addition to solving three or four riddles to bring things in to have "checked off" so that you could stay on "The Island".
I succeeded in accomplishing all of the required tasks and challenges and today was finally weighed and measured. The inches haven't been totaled yet, although since the beginning I've lost about 30 inches, and I did lose 6 pounds over the course of the six weeks. While that may not seem like a lot, you don't want to lose weight fast or you'll gain it back fast so I'm okay with a pound per week.
Anyway, so that's done for now with the final ten winners getting some sort of prize. The list of winners will be "announced" on June 27 so I've got some time to wait before I find out if I won or not and I'm okay with that, too. It isn't going to change anything with regard to the way I work out or keep track of my food. I'm really enjoying the work-outs and the people around me.
In addition to the laundry, I've got work to do today. Not a huge surprise, eh?
I'd better get to it. Have a good 'un!
Thursday, June 16, 2005Finished!
We finished the Smithsonian Workshop last night. Had a good time and enjoyed hearing from several currently published authors including, Donna Andrews, one of my personal favorites.
This Saturday, we're going on a bus trip to the Barnes Foundation near Philadelphia. We're really looking forward to that trip, too!
Other than that, nothing much to report. Work continues afoot, as it were.
Have a good day!
Wednesday, June 15, 2005Nothing New and Exciting
That's really sad, isn't it? I have no news about anything but as always, I have plenty to do. Last night I ironed the fabric that'll be used on the Christmas presents and "went shopping" in my stash to fill in gaps. Brian looked a little concerned when I mentioned to him that I had to go fabric shopping-- I think he thought I meant outside of my stash!
Today, my one and only pre-set conference call has been postponed until Friday. I'm going to go beg some work from Judy so I can help her out and keep myself out of trouble!
As things progress, stuff could happen-- ya never know! Have a good one!
Tuesday, June 14, 2005Finally!
There you are! That's the new meeeee!!! Brian makes me laugh when he takes pictures of me which, in the case of the photo on the left, makes me look like I have an overbite but of the gazillion he took, these are the best.
Yes, my hair is SHORT . . . not Barbara Thompson short but SHORT, nonetheless!! This is my hair wet but, with the styling creme I use, this is how it looks when it dries, too.
Last night was the first time I'd washed my hair since Saturday when I got it cut. From the shower I yelled at Brian, "I have no hair to shampoooooo!!!" I felt bald when I was washing it and, as a result, I'll save a fortune on shampoo and conditioner now, eh?
Demise?
I finally shut off my Designer One yesterday ("DeOne"). It was the first time since Friday and, I have yet to determine if I do, in fact, have a problem with the embroidery arm. I don't dare turn it on to find out!!
Before I shut it off though, I ran all of the designs that I need for Christmas gifts and I also ran three new t-shirts for me. (Variety is the spice of life, don'tcha know?)
The demise of DeOne remains unknown at this point and, with cleaning up my office, I probably won't find out the end result until some time tomorrow. I'll keep you posted, of course!
Well, that's all for today-- thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT day!
Monday, June 13, 2005No Pics Yet
But I didn't end up styling my new hair style all weekend. It turns out that I can just run a brush through it after sleeping so there was no point to styling it "right". I'll do that tonight and have Brian take the pictures to post.
Confused
Yesterday, I (well, Brian, too) kept thinking that it was Father's Day. Until some time around 9pm, we both kept wondering what his dad was doing-- if he was seeing the grand kids or what-- for his celebration. Something really messed with our internal calendars apparently and neither of us thought to look at a calendar until then! Oh, well-- we're early on our gift this year!
Other than that, I spent the weekend running designs on my Designer One-- a screw fell out on Friday that usually leads to it breaking. Since I didn't want that to happen, I didn't turn the machine off all weekend and ran designs and ran designs so that I'd have everything made up that I need for Christmas present-sewing. When I do shut it off, I'll try to fix it myself but, if that isn't possible, I'll have to bring it in for repair-- again.
The good news is that I read three books over the weekend. Well, there's nothing else to do while I'm watching the designs run out! I finished reading Rhys Bowen's most recent contribution to the "Constable Evan Evans" series, "Evan's Gate" on Friday and then read Selma Eichler's "Murder Can Upset Your Mother" (more on that in a minute) followed by another in the "Jane Jeffry" series by Jill Churchill.
Now, you already know that I love the "Constable Evan Evans" series by Rhys Bowen and, of course, "Evan's Gate" is no exception-- wonderful writer. Selma Eichler's "Desiree Shapiro" series is good but written in a fairly disjointed manner. I'm learning to like her style but it is still growing on me.
The Jill Churchill "Jane Jeffry" series I find to be very entertaining. The flow of the book happens naturally and easily without pushing anything to help you figure it out (and I'm generally fooled every time!). I like this series because its just fun and happy and would highly recommend it.
Considering I don't like doing book reviews, I guess that's all for now-- have a good day!
