Archive of Marcia's Musings June 27-July 3, 2005Need I Say More?
Well, first off, there was a post on Monday so if you were only looking at the top of this page, you didn't know that since I wasn't smart enough to change the date. DUH!!!
The reason I didn't post yesterday should be fairly apparent-- I was tooooooo busy! It is, after all, an end-of-quarter week and we know how those go, right? I signed on at 7:30 yesterday and went off line at about 5:45pm. Another long day and busy all through it! I like it that way though so, of course, I'm not complaining.
For De-Stressing
On Monday night, to de-stress a bit, I got evrything organized for some sewing. After dinner I was able to sew for about an hour before the tiredness and heat got to me. There is an air conditioning duct in my sewing room but it is at "the end of the line" so it doesn't push heavily into the room. I've put my fan over it trying to disperse the air better but it doesn't work as well as I'd like. This weekend, when I have four days to sew, I might go ahead and put a second fan in the room to blow air directly on me.
I've also been reading a lot again, of course. I read the Evanovich book on Friday and "Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye" by Victoria Laurie on Sunday. I like this character and the manner in which Laurie has written into the psychic intuitive character the things that she knows about the goings on around her. Very well written series.
Monday evening I picked up Linda Barnes' "Coyote" which is written around her character "Carlotta Carlyle". Of Ms. Barnes series, I've read "Steel Guitar" also and the interesting thing is that these are incredibly old-- well, 15 years-- books. The series has been going on for 15 years with new books every couple of years. That's a long time for a series to be in existence, I think.
Speaking of "series", everytime I think I've bought the first book in Sarah Strohmeyer's "Bubbles" series, I get a new list of the books and find out I still haven't got the right book!! (By the way, I buy used books most of the time, not new.) One of these days, I'll get the definitive list (probably from this website) and buy the first book-- finally. In the meantime, I'm going to start with "Buzzles Ablaze" and see what this is all about-- it may not be something I want to buy but just get on loan from the library.
I'd better get ready for work-- thanks for stopping by! Have a great one!
Monday, June 27, 2005Too Late!!
On Barbara's page, she limits her telling of the plot behind Janet Evanovich's newest, "Eleven on Top" for fear that she'll spoil the surprise for either Bob or me. Too late-- got it on Thursday, read it on Friday-- laughedalllllllll the way through it!!
One of the funniest parts was that I was sitting on the deck reading it and, of course, laughing and people would walk by on the path next to our property line and look at me like I was out of my mind. Couldn't help it-- the book was hilarious!!!
Other than that . . .
The weekend was filled with reading, napping, sewing, napping, grocery shopping, napping and, movie-watching with a friend. Good relaxation in preparation for the upcoming four-day weekend!
Busy at work this week-- end-of-quarter stuff. Can hardly wait! Have a good one!!
