I Got A Hair Cut!!!!

Okay, normally, that isn't so exciting but I'm talking a HAIR CUT here!  Altogether my stylist probably cut about a maximum of 7 inches off the longest part of the cut.  My hair is the shortest that its been in 20 years!

Guess what?  I have naturally curly hair-- I never used to but I do now!  The cut enhances the curls because the weight of the length that I used to have, hid the curls.

Why did I get a drastic new hairstyle?  Because I'm sick of wearing my hair in a pony tail or up in a clip.  I have the "Dykstra" hair-- VERY thick and when its hot (which it has been pretty much since April), I can't wear my hair down without sweating-- not perspiring-- to death!  I can't remember the last time that I wore my hair DOWN, completely, let alone styled it!

Pictures to follow-- in the meantime, more designs to run before my machine breaks entirely!

Have a great weekend!

Almost Forgot!

I got an early start on work this morning and have had quite a bit to do.  As a result, I just about forgot to put up a post here!  Whoops!!

In between work, I'm running out some designs on my machine for Christmas presents-- Yes, I'm already starting work on that.  I've taken on yet another project: writing a short play for my sister, the teacher.  Yes, some day I'll learn to say no but, not for awhile, Thanks!  I enjoy helping people too much-- and ya'll know how much I love to write!

Of course, the laundry's already been done and hung up or put away.  Nary a dull moment around here, eh?

One thing I decided is that I want our house and general area to have the same temperatures that the Bay Area had-- I can't stand having a beautiful house with wonderful windows that CAN'T be opened during the summer!  That just makes me crazy!!

Oh, well, I'll just add that to the list when the white coats come to get me-- HA!

Have a good day!

Workshop Update

Because Brian's on pain-killers and not enjoying things very well right now, I went to the Smithsonian Workshop by myself last night.  That would have been okay except that the Metro system was not operating properly and got me to the workshop 15 minutes late!  I hate walking in after the presentation has started-- mostly because I don't like missing anything!

Anyway, the homicide detective was there last night and it was very informative-- moreso than usual in fact.  He had slides and a good discussion of what his job is so that we (the attendees) could get a better understanding.  If someone was writing from the perspective of a homicide detective, s/he would need the type of perspective that was offered from the presentation.  Very well done, as usual.

Today is more of the same, as usual.  Work is picking up a bit which is always a good thing.

Thanks for stopping by-- have a great day!

All's Well

Brian's oral surgery went well yesterday but I'll leave it to him to fill you in on the details... eventually.  He didn't sleep well last night, needless to say, but he's going to work from home today, if at all, so I'm sure he'll have time to fill you in.

We basically laid back all night.  After I got my nails done, I had to run to the store for him for a few things and then, played a computer game.

Slow news day today, it seems as well.  There's work, of course, which I am really enjoying these days.  I really appreciate being able to work from home more as humid and hot as it is outside.

I'd better get to it.  Thanks for stopping by and have a good day!

In-n-Out

Nope, I'm not talking burgers-- I'll be in-n-out of the house today getting Brian to the oral surgeon's office and then back home for me and then back to the oral surgeon's office and then back home for both of us.  Good thing its early in the month!  Of course, that was part of the plan-- any later in the month and he'd be getting taxi cabs or something! ;>)  No, I'm joking, I would slow down enough for him to jump out or jump in, I swear!

Anyway, I've got time for a little bit of work this morning before we go and then I'll do more while he's getting surgerized and then I'll go pick him up and we'll both be home for the afternoon.  Not bad, really.  And, overall, its definitely worth it.

Berry-Time

The strawberries are ripe!!  Unfortunately, we're not freezing any of them because we're too busy eating them!!  But that's okay, too-- afterall, that's why we grew them, right?  Brian doesn't like my mother's shortcake recipe and I can't eat it so its just plain berries (or for him, a little chocolate ice cream) and they're delcious so that does hit the spot nicely, thanks.

I guess that's all for now--have a good day!

Bloody Early!!

One of the sales reps in England is concerned that his customer may ask him a question about the agreement that they are about to execute SOOOO, he asked me to be available.  Oh, sure, it would be better for me to wake up at 5:30 and be available at 6m than to have Judy or my director make themselves available-- especially since it would be 3am their time!!  Yeesh!!

So here I am at 6am, signed on and ready to roll while Brian sleeps.  Lucky guy!!  Yeesh!!  The things I do, eh?

Banana Bread

Yesterday, I made the banana bread recipe that my cousin Barb sent to me.  Its a low-calorie, low carb version of the one we grew up on and it turned out really good!!  I altered the recipe a little as she used regular white flour and I substituted that for soy flour.  Mine's a little lower in calories and carbs as a result.

The question is what do I count for calories?  I'm figuring a 100 calories for a thick slice.  I think that's only fair, don't you?

Spur of the Moment

Yesterday, literally on a moment's notice, Brian and I went to see Star Wars.  Pretty cool, too.  Since he's more into that king of thing, I'll let him do the review but, I enjoyed it.

I guess that's all for the start of this week-- have a good one!
