Archive of Marcia's Musings October 10-16, 2005A Couple of Things to Note
There's really not much happening around here these days. At least, nothing much besides work and sewing. I've got a doctor appointment for follow-up on my IBS, etc. today at 11:40-- a very odd time for an appointment! Anyway, I've then got to remember (and remind myself tonight) to talk to my in-laws about having Christmas in January when Brian and I go for our vacation/business trip in California.
My company, as well as my last company, has a big new year kick-off in January. Brian is going to go with me and we're going to add some time to it to see the in-laws, nieces and nephews, and assorted friends, while we're there. I'd like to hold off doing Christmas until we're there so that I can see their faces as they open their gifts. I'd like that for a change and I doubt that two small-ish children would mind waiting and getting more gifts a week or two after Christmas.
Anyway, there's going to be a crafts day at my Curves and I have an idea for a work-out towel that I'd like to sell there. I figure I could get $12 each and make a little money to fund my sewing/fabric/embroidery design/notions habit and expenses. I'd need to make more than a dozen work-out towels plus some kitchen towels. Good thing I've got two embroidery machines!
I'll have to think on that-- that's all for now-- have a good day!
Thursday, October 13, 2005The More Things Change . . .
. . . they change. Now, I'm not going to Richmond next week either. Its not that the customer doesn't want to meet me, its just that they aren't ready for an in-person negotiation. Translated, that means that they want to keep avoiding ending the negotiation by actually coming to an agreement on the terms. Heaven's sakes, if we finished the negotiation by agreeing on things, what would they do with the rest of their Wednesdays this year? (We have a call every Wednesday, rain or shine-- yeesh!!)
Other than that . . .
I've figured out that I have about 50 designs to run out on things for Christmas gifts over the course of the next two months. Add to that the fact that I've been thinking about changing the design of my brother-in-law's quilt to include embroidery designs and, well, things are going to be pretty hectic around here! Ah, but I like it that way-- keeps me out of trouble, don'tcha know?
Now, although I've been threatening to write to my friend, Pat, for about two weeks, I am actually going to do it . . . NOW!! Have a good day!
Wednesday, October 12, 2005Ah, Good News!!
I don't have to go to Raleigh next week-- not that I would mind going its just . . . the drive and being away from home-- AGAIN-- that I didn't want to deal with if it could be avoided. Thankfully, my manager agrees!! I'll still make the trip to Richmond on Wednesday, if the customer is agreeable but, otherwise, I'm home-bound for another few weeks-- thank goodness!!
I hate to say it but that's all I can think of to tell you about!! Man, that's a boring life, eh?
Hope yours is better-- have a good day!
Tuesday, October 11, 2005Up and Att'em!!!
Busy day already, of course-- we're in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year so that makes sense, right? Yeesh!! Its not even 9:30 and I've reviewed and redlined an agreement-- busy days ahead!!
Guess What??
Oh, boy-- I get to go BACK to North Carolina-- MAYBE!! The regional meeting is next week and there's a possibility that I may have to attend. Unfortunately, it isn't in Winston-Salem where Barbara and Bob are but, instead, in Raleigh-- where I know NO ONE!!!
Since I may have a customer meeting on the way back, it would mean that I'd be out of my home office for as much as four days-- NO, I do NOT want to go!!!! I'd rather just have to attend the customer meeting and call that "Good". Seems reasonable, doesn't it? I think so but we'll see what the boss has to say . . . I'll keep you posted!
Guess that's about all that's new at this point-- maybe I'll check back later. Have a good 'un!!
Monday, October 10, 2005I'm Back!!!
I'm already tired but, I had a wonderful time in North Carolina last week. Barbara and Bob Thompson were wonderful hosts and it was nice to have my Lucy with me. It felt weird that Brian wasn't there but, nonetheless, it was a nice week spent shopping for fabric and used books. The geography was a little different than we had originally planned but the rest of it held true to the format of the trip we had planned.
While I was there, Bob enlightened me about Mozilla-- not that Brian hasn't tried but what wife listens to her husband??? Anyway, when I got back, Brian installed FireFox's browser and Thunderbird email for me. Its changed a few other things in my system but nothing I can't live with over the long term.
Routine?
I'm getting back into the routine of working out and work although its a slow process. I slept like crap last night but I still got up and worked out at Curves-- it just isn't the same as Gold's Gym but when I'm ready for it, I will hopefully find a Gold's close to where I live.
I owe a lot of people emails from last week-- Pat and Barb, they're coming, I swear!!
Would you believe in all of that time last week, neither Barbara nor I took ANY pictures? I know-- its a shame!!
Have a good one!
