Contracts Department's Field Trip to
Ano Nuevo State Reserve

Ano Nuevo State Reserve requires reservations for the tour a month in advance.  Our director and admin made the reservations and we were off!!

I'm not going to provide much of a narative here because they are elephant seals and the really good scientific stuff is at the related sites that are linked below.

The hikers at the start . . . 

Yes, it was a gorgeous day!

Yes, that mound in the middle is an Elephant Seal!!

See the fella behind him? We walked between the two when we got around to that side of the beach!!

Yes, we got pretty close in some cases . . . 

While this looks like a lot of Elephant Seals, there are 150,000 of them along the coast of Northern California so this isn't a lot of them!
