1/2 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
4 Tablespoons (packed) light brown sugar
1 Tablespoon flour
4 teaspoons of melted low-calorie/low-fat margarine or butter
4 apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
1 Tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
1/4 teaspoon cinamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmegPreheat the oven to 375F; spray an 8" square baking dish (or equivalent size) with non-stick cooking spray.
In a small bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, and work together. Work in the melted butter so that the crumbs are all coated but not sticking together.
Lay the apples about 1" thick in the pan; sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over top and then, sprinkle the dry ingredients over.
Bake 30-40 minutes
Instead of using apples, you could substitute pears. Also, you could add a cup of cranberries to the 4 apples and make the recipe a little larger and tarter!
