Its so nice to have you visit . . .

For those of you who meander through my site on a regular basis, thanks!  Through the webalizer link that my husband has so kindly generated for me on a daily basis, I've been able to see that I've been visited by Italy, Japan, The Netherlands (Way COOL!!), Canada (I will concede the use of my preferred spelling/pronounciation as "Canadia" for this posting), enumerable non-profits here in the US and around the world (?), and US commercial and Network organizations in addition to the other Unresolved and Unknown of you.  This is really a fun experiment for me because I get to think I have an audience, no matter how limited it might be, that is interested enough to find out what's happening in and around California and our little chunk of the world.  Perhaps, for some of you, it is merely getting the "other" perspective of the ramblings of my husband but, whatever the reason, thanks for stopping by, come back and visit again next month and if you'd like, send me an email-- I really enjoy email-pals.

Its been sooooo long!!

I am not complaining, mind you but, last night, I was in bed at 9:35!!  And, even though this may sound strange, it felt really good to be there.  It has been so long since I've been worn out from the mental output that the type of work I do requires . . . it has been refreshing these past few weeks and I'm enjoying my new job immensely.

One of my sisters wrote to ask me what it is that I do; actually, I believe her direct quote is:  "What are you doing for them??"  As I explained to her, I'm a Contract Negotiator:

Company A wants to license the software that Company B produces but, Company B, not being stupid, wants Company A to pay a fee and follow certain legal obligations.  I negotiate the deal between the two companies.

When I read that paragraph to Brian, his response was: "Honey, you've got one of those jobs where people don't understand what you do because you have to work with lawyers.  Yech, lawyers!!"  Sometimes you have to work with lawyers but in my present position, there's not one lawyer in the lot!

At my new job, I am really enjoying the work because the product is understandable and the people are really enjoyable to work with in all of the departments.  Finance, contracts, and sales are so closely related that there is a certain amount of natural tension but, that natural tension also leads to real enjoyment on the job-- at least, for me!

Never far from my thoughts . . .

Today is the 13th anniversary of my mother's passing.  There were times when the holidays were not fun for me because of the deaths of my parents occuring in late November and December.  However, that time has passed and I not only have fond memories with a lot less pain (thanks to my cousin, Sherry) but Brian and I have fun finding new traditions of our own to begin each year.  It was very difficult to deal with the loss of a parent at any age-- both the child's age and the parent's age but it has become easier with time to accept the things that I cannot change.

In the past few weeks, I've had two separate occasions to share a favorite story about my father.  I'm going to wait and make it a "teaser" of sorts for December . . . they, like most parents, weren't perfect but they were mine and I still love them and I do miss them but I can say all of that with a smile on my face now.

Poor Brian . . .

Remember my telling you about Brian's dillema of last year with regard to being finished with his Christmas shopping on December 9?  Well, let's just say, its not even December yet!!!
