A Little Bit of Everything
After one quick phone call with Leah Syroid, we set about eating dinner only to have a second call come in from her: "I love it!!", she screamed into the phone. At the end of our previous conversation, I sent her to my quilting page so she could see the photos of the wall-hanging and, in the second call, she was relating her impression of it to me.
I also ran the laundry today after the Costco run-- no grocery store run was needed, today, but tomorrow we'll probably need more veg in the house. I also went to The Granary to pick up some "Fray Check" and ran into some fabric that screamed something about wanting to come home with me. That's okay, the store's birthday discount policy was applied to it so it was a really great price. Then home and more working on the quilting of the class project. I'm just about finished with the quilting and, may blow off waiting until the class to put the binding on it-- don't worry, I have a new project that I would work on in the class at the next meeting. I could take advantage of a whole new set of questions if I timed it right-- I don't see why I couldn't do that.
Some updating of my sister's website and then, more sewing followed by making dinner which was rosemary chicken and zucchini and baked potatoes and now, I'm waiting for Enterprise and Alias, respectively, to come on the tube. So far, yes, it has been a very relaxing weekend and, we have two more days left!! Yipppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! (It seems like that's where I started this weekend, wasn't it?)
More as the spirit moves me . . . have a nice weekend!
Saturday, February 16, 2002Busy Day!!
First of all, to my sister, Karen!! Karen is exactly 12 years older than me and, if you'll recall, there's a story behind that one, too!
Ta-Da!!!
Hung up and looking mighty awesome if I've gotta say so myself-- and, yes, Brian likes it, too!! (That's really important, needless to say!)
I'm going to start a quilting page showing the finished products and, in some cases, the trip there-- this one was pretty tricky but I really enjoyed the learning process!!
And Onward . . .
I've started the quilting process on the quilt that I'm making for the class that I'm in and I'm having a lot of fun with it-- beside the standard stuff, I'm throwing in some templates and such which are really turning it into a fun project, needless to say.
Hard at Work
Brian's been hard at work all day playing farmer boy-- he's planted some zucchini (in pots that are big enough to support their lifestyles) and is going to set the soil up along the fenceline for putting in some tomatoes, green beans, green peppers, etc., there. Today he also potted plants including the one that was my Valentine's Day plant-- it is just starting to bloom but it will be gorgeous when it is full on, don'tcha think?
Also, this is the rosemary plant and, as we've discovered today, its not bulbs that are planted in the middle but replaceable pots so that when the flowers in the pot in the middle die off, it can be pulled out and the next flowering pot can be inserted. Really a neat idea, don'tcha think?
As you may have guessed, watching all of this activity just plum wore Sally out. Isn't she cute?
Well, there's a pizza to order for Brian and I'm going to make a chicken pizza for me tonight-- sounds interesting, doesn't it? I'll let you know.
Have a nice evening!
Friday, February 15, 2002Happy Birthday to Me!!
Yep, the secret's out!! Its my birthday today! Thanks to everyone who has sent a greeting card or email-- there've been a lot but that's one of the nice things about this community that we live in, isn't it?
I've had a restful, relaxing, successful day off and had a lot of fun messin' with Sally's mind-- she knew we weren't gone for five days so she was really surprised to see me at home today. The shopping went well-- I'm now set on the fabric for five big quilting projects so, yes, I guess I'm set for awhile, huh?
Brian's taking me out to dinner tonight and then, frankly, I don't know what he has planned-- he's told himself (and me, obviously) that he's not going to be on computer all night so that must mean he has something planned. Hmmm, maybe a movie??
Anyway, sorry so short but we're on our way out!
Have a nice night!
Thursday, February 14, 2002Happy Valentine's Day!!
I hope everyone's having a happy day!! Nina, my friend at work, gave everyone in our department kids' Valentines today-- it was really cute. When I got home from work, Brian gave me his present: two beautiful plants! One is a HUGE rosemary plant with different flowering plants arranged/planted/potted inside of it and the other is a beautiful red flower-- just gorgeous!! I apparently got home from work too early since he was still working on my electronic greeting card-- it is one that he designed himself! As I speak, he's trying to figure out a way to save it so that I can have it linked here on my page for you to see. (Instead of saving and sending to me, he posted it on his site! Go see it here.)If that gets to working, I'll let you know. We've just returned from a quick bite out-- Fresh Choice. I love that salad joint!! I hope everyone has as great a Valentines' Day as I do!!
Outta There!!
Yipppppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Don't misunderstand me-- I love my job but I am so ready for a few days off, I can hardly stand myself!! I got everything set up and either connected into someone else for follow-up or put off until next week.
So on the agenda is shopping for quilting fabric tomorrow-- with birthday money so it is guilt free-- and then, on Saturday, a few errands and a follow-up appointment at my hair stylist's. Sunday? Probably a Costco run and, even though we're not going anywhere on Monday or Tuesday, we'll probably need to make the grocery store run. Monday!! Ahhhhhhh, Monday-- SLEEEEEEEEEP!!!! Tuesday is a day-trip somewhere-- don't know where yet but somewhere that Sally can go with us. Not too many plans but just enough to break up the time and know that I've had a few days off. Sounds like a Good Time to me!!
********
On that note, however, I am ready to publish this but Brian hasn't sent me the file for my Valentine's card yet. It is really great so when he has it saved for me, I'll put it up here so ya'll can see it.
Have a wonderful happy and love-filled night!
Wednesday, February 13, 2002Muuuccchhhhhh busier!!
A very much busier day today-- thank goodness!! (I so hate being bored!!) This poor cybersales (another term for "inside sales") rep brought me an exhibit twice for a document that he needed executed. I managed to lose both copies so, rather than ask for a third, I retyped the exhibit. It was only ten lines and no big deal but, I couldn't ask for another copy of it!! I've got most everything cleared off my desk for the long weekend. I've notified some of my clients that I'm going to be out of the office and no one else will be able to help them while I'm gone. I'm thinking of turning on the "Out-of-Office Assistant" about noon tomorrow so that people will have advance warning that I'll be out of the office for two business days. Its a temptation but I don't know if I'll be able to do it. (It is kinda like waving a red cape in front of a bull so I'm not sure that it is a good idea.)
Oh, well, no matter what, there's only tomorrow and then I'm outta there for five whole long, long, lonngggg days!! Whew!!
Ah-Hah!!
We (well, I, really) figured out what was making me so "tired" every night! The last few nights, I'd changed my routine and started taking my make-up immediately upon arrival at home from work and then, I put on my usual face lotions, including my eye cream. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, I am allergic to either my face lotion or my eye cream because tonight, I haven't taken off my make-up and put on anything and I'm fine. Usually, I do it before going to bed so I wouldn't notice it then anyway cuz I would be asleep. Sooooo, that seems to have cured the problem!!
I changed my routine because, for whatever silly reason, I decided to stop remembering to take my make-up off at night. I'd done that a couple of nights and thought "Well, maybe its time to change the routine so I'll remember." WRONGGGGGG!!!!!!! But, unfortunately, you have to learn that the hard way, don'tcha?
Change of Plans
I've decided not to "not post" over the weekend-- I'll probably have something of value to tell you that I'll forget by Tuesday night if I don't so I'm going to go ahead and post. Afterall, I have to let you know how successful my shopping trip was, don't I?
**********
Last night I finished the first cushion for the patio set. I wrote down the measurements and, tonight, I've got the assembly line set up to finish up the rest of the cushions. Hopefully, it'll go fast and I'll have them all finished either tonight or tomorrow night. Pictures on that will follow this summer, more than likely!
I guess that's all for tonight though so, as usual, thanks for coming by and you have a grand old' evening, 'kay? 'Kay!!
Tuesday, February 12, 2002Hump Night!!
No, it isn't Wednesday but I am half-way through my week!!! Do you get the feeling that I'm looking forward to my day off? Nah, it is just your imagination, I'm sure!!
I was busier today but, to be frank, I can't remember a lot of exactly what I did-- the details are all blurring at me right now.
Just an FYI . . .
Now that Shelley's back (or at least, we hope it is going to be a new habit for her!), I'm going to take the weekend off from my posts. I'm going to give myself a break from everything for awhile and maybe I'll come back with renewed vigor! Well, it is certainly worth a try, isn't it?
Results!!
After I posted my comments about laundry last night, Brian must've read it cuz he helped with the rest of the laundry and made an effort to put stuff away, too. That right there is a wonderful Valentine's present, huh? I thought so-- don't need a singular day for that-- nope!!
*********
I'm already tired out enough to stop sewing for the night-- I finished one cushion and called it a cushion. I'm going to find something mind-numbing on television for awhile (Yes, I know-- that shouldn't be too hard) and then, I'll be heading off to bed to read. Last night I went to bed at 9 to read and ended up shutting off the light at 9:10pm!! Whew!! Maybe I'll make it a little longer tonight!
Have a nice evening!
Monday, February 11, 2002One Down and Three to Go!!
Today was a fairly slow day so, because I knew that, I went ahead and brought Sally into the office with me. She had a nice time but my director, who loves to have Sally visit, didn't get a chance to see her again today. I know Sally's disappointed but I'm sure Joyce will be when she remembers that I told her Sally would be at the office today!! All things considered, I came home with Sally at 3 and worked the rest of the afternoon from home, hooked in remotely.
Because I have Friday off of this week and Monday (for the Holiday) and Tuesday off of next week, these are going to be two short weeks which I desperately need. I need to rejuvenate from the crunch of the end-o-year and I still haven't had a chance to do that so that's what this five-day weekend is for. Brian's staying home with me on Tuesday but, Friday is for me to go do some serious fabric shopping!! I've got a series of quilts that I want to start on next so, I need to get the fabric purchased for that.
By the way, yes, I finished the quilted wall-hanging and, as soon as Brian gets it hung up, I'll take a picture for ya'll to see it. It is great looking-- I really like the way it came out and am very pleased with my first effort!!
No Rest for the . . .
Be careful how you finish that!!
At 5, I closed down shop here and started the laundry-- thankfully, there are only three loads which are almost finished being washed but, the dryer is still running. Speaking of which, I have a question: why is it that when I do laundry by myself, I put away Brian's socks, underwear, shirts, etc., but when he does laundry, I have to put away my own socks, underwear, shirts, etc.? Tonight he carried in the first load of hung-up dryer clothes and I found my stuff had been attached to the ironing board in my office rather than put in my closet in our room!! Why is that?? Sorry, he doesn't do things wrong very frequently but just this once, I had to speak up!
I made dinner (chicken noodle soup) tonight and have started on the first of four cushions for our outdoor patio set. I'm hoping to get them finished this week so that I can spend some time this weekend sewing the fabric that I'm going to buy on Friday.
*********
There are some new pictures of our Blonde Beauty on her Home Page-- she was out sunbathing this weekend when Brian snapped a few shots of her. She's just tooooooo cute!!
Gotta run-- a zillion things to do yet. Have a nice evening!
