Not Much Happening
More like I don't remember what's happening!! I just spent more than two hours updating Sally's page for her and updating the quilting page. The class project is finished along with the top for the next quilt.
Go and look at them-- tomorrow I'll post something more substantial, okay? T'anks!!
Have a nice night!
Friday, February 22, 2002Editor's Note
There are times, in this journal, when the things I talk about seem like fluff. That's because they are just that-- fluff. There are individuals that I work with that read this journal and, as a result, I am not at liberty to discuss some things as openly as I'd like to discuss them. I've learned to live with it and bend Brian's ear instead-- yes, it is now dragging to the floor but that's another story.
If I don't mention anything in specific about my work, please understand that it is not a result of having nothing to talk about as much as it is a matter of needing to preserve the decorum I feel should be preserved, at least for the present time.
If I don't post or seem distracted and disjointed when I do post, please understand that this is a condition of the situation. As it clears up, things will flow easier here and there. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Dinner In/Out
We're doing something we haven't done for awhile: we're having dinner at Pat & Nathan's house (instead of going out for dinner). We had the dinner itself planned for a week or so but because their dryer broke, we had to reschedule to having dinner at their house so that they could be there while the dryer is getting fixed. Pretty cool, huh? As of this afternoon, there was a pork roast on the menu-- don't know what else they've come up with since the last time that we emailed each other.
Happy Thoughts
Happy thoughts go out to the Belands tonight-- I'm sure Matt is not having a good time in the hospital but Keri is, I'm sure, making certain that his every need is attended to by the staff or herself. Think happy thoughts or prayers or whatevers that Matt gets to feeling better soon!
Guess that's all, Folks!
Don't have a clue about tomorrow-- hopefully, sleep! Have a nice evening!
Thursday, February 21, 2002Tell me again?
How'd we do this before? For years, I got to work between 7 and 7:30 and I wasn't the first one in the bathroom at the house-- Brian somehow managed to get up and out of the bathroom in plenty of time to get me to work "on time". Today, in order to make that, I had to be the first one in the bathroom. I can't remember what we did differently except that maybe managing our time was different, i.e., Brian got into the shower at an earlier time and thus, got out earlier which allowed me to do the same. Granted, it takes an extra ten minutes to dry my hair and put my make-up on but, it really isn't that big of a deal. Hmmmm, we're gonna have to work on this, I think! If nothing but for the fact that I've gotta reorganize my morning habits: I forgot to take my synthroid and other vitamins before I left for the office this morning. Not a Good Thing.
Change of Plans
Or so much for what we thought was going to happen in our life over the upcoming summer. We had hoped for some changes being made around here later this year but that doesn't look to be happening at all. It is really difficult to be forward looking in this Bay Area economy, ya know? Oh, well, we'll see if anything shakes out and, in the interim, maybe I should update my resume page and if you're interested, drop me a line!
Found it!!
I knew I'd done 4 of each!! Yep, this morning, I found the 4th pink square-- I hate it when I do stupid stuff! It fell off the ironing board and my eyes missed it when I was looking for it last night!! Oh, well, now I have an extra square that'll end up being a pillow? Yeah, that sounds like the ticket!!
I've already sewed up the five rows and just have the rows to attach to each other. Then, of course, there are the borders but, yes, it looks like yet another quilt is almost done-- of course, the long part is yet to come: the actual quilting!!
*****
Brian has the tax appointment in the morning and, so far, he's gathered none of the information-- I keep offering to help but, so far, he doesn't want any assistance. Hmmm . . . scary thought, eh?Should be a fun night-- have a great one yourself!
Wednesday, February 20, 2002Back At It!!
Yep, today we were both back at it-- Brian went off to his job, eventually, and I went to mine. Bummer-- really need to remember to buy lottery tickets, ya know?
Work was busier than I'd hoped but not as bad as I'd expected, if that makes any sense. There were fires to put out and, as expected, there were things that are going to simmer and burn overnight so that we can stomp on those fires tomorrow. Should be loads of fun!
I'm thinking of readjusting my hours back to my early schedule: the guys in the Southeast need me earlier and it is not helping the situation when I come into the office when they're going to lunch. It just makes sense to start going into the office early again-- besides spring is here and that leaves me time for some exercise after work!
Once Around the Block!
Speaking of exercise, Brian, Sally and I went for a walk around the block this afternoon. Mind you that it is a "block" of a little over a mile long and, at least for me, it has been a week since I walked it!! It was good to get out and Sally enjoys having us there even if she does set a strange pace! You have to remember that she is an "Old Dog" and this walking thing is a "New Trick" for her.
And Speaking of Blocks!!
Tonight, I was finishing off the squaring up of the blocks for the quilt top that I'm working on and came to a sudden realization: instead of having 4 pink and 4 blue triangle blocks, I had 3 pink and 4 blue triangle blocks! I hate that-- I was so close to getting a start on putting this one together, too!! Oh, well-- it won't take long to whip that last block together.
Later it is "How To" night on PBS so I'll knock off my "quilt construction" for "home construction" later on-- in the meantime, I'm going to get to it.
Thanks for coming by and you have a nice evening, too!!
Tuesday, February 19, 2002This is it!
I'm only writing enough to tell you that I'm really not posting tonight. Nothing much to report since all we did was stay at home (Brian gave Sally a bath) since the weather was so bad here. It is, afterall, winter in California so it is going to be raining, right? I sewed and got the squares/blocks done on the quilt; I've got to put them together tomorrow night or whenever I get to it.
I did a little more hand sewing on the class project and will probably have that finished by the weekend-- I seem to be taking my time on it now, don't I? Oh, well-- I'm still going to go to the last class because there could be techniques that I'll learn or hear about when I'm there so it is worth going.
Okay, so that's already two paragraphs longer than I thought I was going to write.
More tomorrow-- Have a nice evening!
Monday, February 18, 2002Almost Forgot!!
If it weren't for the fact that I roll my week over on Mondays, I might've forgotten to post!! Got busy, don'tcha know?
Two down-- 6 (and more) to go!! I finished the class project, except for the hand-sewing, today and that includes the little 12x16" pillow I decided to throw in for good measure. When I get the binding sewn down, I'll take pictures of it and post them on my website.
The next one is already started, of course. Brian came up with the design on this one as far as the block layout is concerned. I chose the blocks to use in the first place but he thought it would be cool to use a certain variation. So, we're going to try it: if it turns out horrible, I get to buy more fabric. Wow, that sounds pretty awful, doesn' it? ;>)
This next one is extremely colorful-- that's my favorite part about quilting: the colors!! Because it isn't a published pattern, I'm going to document this one a little closer than the last two so that I can recreate it if I want to do so later.
That's all I've worked on all day-- a friend of mine calls it "cocooning". I call it having fun!!
Have a nice evening!
