Little Miss Thang
Our very own "Little Miss Thang" has been coming and going up and down the stairs for the last few days completely on her own!! I'm not sure if it is that she's in shape or if it is because of the Rimidyl but she is eternally proud of herself when she makes it up the stairs! What a cutie!!
Hair Done!!
I have found a new home!! I went and had my hair done by Mary at Robert Andrews Salon & Day Spa in Gambrills, Maryland yesterday. I love it!! My hair looks great and I didn't feel grungy when I left there-- I always felt like I had to have a shower when I got home from having my hair done at the other place in San Jose!!
Anyway, this "Day Spa" is amazing, even if they don't have a website!! Marble throughout and its two floors with the main floor being "lofted" in the hair area. The nail section is upstairs and, although I have yet to see that area (I have an appointment on the 28th), I'm sure it'll be just as spectacular. The hair treatment turned out to be the same price as California so that's a good thing-- the nails appear to be a little more expensive but, to get them done right, it will be worth it.
Whew!! What a relief!
Finally Finalized!!
Our bedroom is now complete: we've added our last bits of furniture which is a table and lamp for next to the chair. It looks really nice, too and completes the balance in the room.
Other than that . . .
Our weekend has been pretty uneventful. I'm going to go start the laundry that I was going to put off until tomorrow just because I can. Okay-- it'll confuse Brian, too and that's always fun!!
Hope you've had a great weekend and have a nice night!

Friday, September 13, 2002Good Reason
I had a very good reason why I didn't post last night: I was out to a nail appointment and tired and homesick. Yes, I admit it: I'm homesick for California!! The thing is that I'm only homesick for certain things: Obviously, I've noticed that we're not an hour away from my Brian's parents anymore but, it is extremely easy to call and feel like we're in the same room. My friends? That's another story! As I mentioned last week, I miss Pat and Nathan and going out for Chinese food on a Saturday night a LOT!! Then, last night, I made the mistake of calling my friend, Linda (who has moved to a different salon but has the same phone number), partly to catch up and partly to talk about my nails. Then I got homesick all over again. Not a fun thing. This will pass however, I'm sure-- it always does.
Nails
I'm not pleased with the person doing my nails. She seems to go a bit on the thick side with the nail polish and she's switching me from acryllics to gels which I'm not really sure about. I'm checking out a new salon tomorrow that is a full-service salon and will see what they do with nails, etc., then. I may be switching entirely.
Bugs!!!
Ya'll remember that I grew up on a farm right? Well, unfortunately, I've become a little too city-fied! I'm actually also a little amazed that Brian hasn't written to complain about my aversion but then he is a smart man!
My aversion? Bugs that need to be squashed, crunched, flushed or otherwise removed from their movement in front of my face. There is a high propensity for bugs in Maryland-- certainly a lot more than I remember being in California-- and they have managed to all come to our house figuring that since I don't like to kill them, they will surely forever. Well, that's wrong-- I will kill them (if they stop moving, jumping or hopping) and I will kill them VERY dead, usually removing several legs and arms and wings in the process (banging a cricket with a broom will do that!). I cannot abide, however, having to remove them from the flat surface from which I have laid them out.
As an example, I killed a giant spider while I was eating-- and ultimately, trying to keep down-- my breakfast this morning. After killing it with the fly swatter, I promptly returned to the breakfast table, continuing to try to keep my breakfast down. Eventually I succeeded in that but, I couldn't bring myself to picking him up off the floor. I waited for Brian, the Body Snatcher, to come downstairs and asked him to remove it from the floor.
I'll probably be able to do this eventually but, at least for the first 10 to 15 years (oh, no, we're not staying past that!), I'll continue to have the Body Snatcher do his job.
Everything's New Again
New nail place, new hair place, new dentist (Brian goes next week) and a new doctor. I think I've found us a new doctor who is less than a mile from where we live (convenient, needless to say) but, I'm not sure-- we'll have to see how it goes. This is really not easy to do, this finding new things, ya know? You've got to go by guessing a lot or someone else's recommendations or opinions. I've always been accustomed to forming my own opinions so, as a result, I hate relying on others for their opinions.

Sally's upstairs with me (I think the rimidyl has had a tremendous affect on her-- for the better!) and is growling at me to pay attention to her. She's so funny!!Oh, well, we're going to get started on our weekend. Ya'll have a great evening, okay?

We Remember . . .
I think my husband said it very eloquently this morning in his post. I would ask that you re-read his thoughts and words and remember. We will never forget.
Tuesday, September 10, 2002Not Per Se
There's really not going to be a post from me tonight. We spent four hours driving to and being at the car dealership but, we have "it"!! "Our New Baby" is a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe and, yes, I have to practice spelling that one! As of tomorrow evening, the Mercedes will go away and "Blue" will come home with Brian, hopefully to spend ten good years with us. Blue is named for the dusty blue/nearly periwinkle that it is painted-- the silver one wouldn't be in for several days and ended up not having a sun roof.
More tomorrow-- I'm working from home, more on that then, too.
Have a nice night!
Monday, September 9, 2002Page Modifications
I've got some reconstruction I owe you here, there, there and there but I just haven't gotten myself around to finding the time to do it. I know that part of it is that I'd rather be doing anything than sit in front of a computer when I get home from work but, I also know that you want to see some of the things that have been going on in our lives since July!! I've got pictures from our trip to Ashland to tell you about and I've got pictures of Robbie and Alex to share with you. Sally, of course, has been adorable and we've shared a couple of pictures of her over the past few weeks with you. (She's a trip-- let me tell you!) I will get to it-- I've made one modification already on this page: I've moved the "Saying Goodbye to California" page to the main Meanderings page which is where it now belongs. We'll start new adventures as move around Maryland but, I've got things even to finish up on that page before I move on to the present and future. All in good time, I promise!!
Funny Typo, Indeed!!!

You know, I'm sure that there's more I need to tell you about but, for the life of me, I can't remember anything. I'm going to start writing this stuff down-- oh, yeah, that's what I am doing, right?Whoops!!
Oh, well, have a good afternoon, evening and night!
