I must be NUTS!!!
That about sums up my day, doesn't it? And the store work was followed by a "staff meeting" wherein everyone celebrated the departure of the woman-who-made-it-impossible-for-me-to-work-there-in-April. (Yes, it is a little like "Lord Voldemort"-- no one dares to speak her name!) We sold one machine and came close to another but it was busier than that makes it sound since I was the only one working the floor. I found I remembered more than I thought I would have remembered including most of the closing procedures.
At any rate, I'm back for at least the time being and we'll see where it goes from there. I've got a business trip in July to California which may make it difficult to start any classes until . . . whenever I get back in the swing of things. We'll see . . .
Obviously . . .
Other than that, that was my day. Brian and I slept in until 9-ish and the rest of the time, I spent getting ready to go to work or talking with my sister. Always fun, needless to say but never long enough.
Hopefully more antics to follow next week-- stay tuned!
In the meantime, take care, and be good-- have a great evening, night and/or morning!!

Back at 7:30pmTwo-Fer
Not only do you get to see the most adorable dog in the world looking her extremely royal self BUT you get to see a really pretty tablecloth, too!! The tablecloth is the simple, "beginner" design that I'm going to use for my class in September or October. So, if you live in Maryland and are interested in a quilting class, keep that in mind and watch this site for the announcement of the class dates. I'll have another angle shot or two on the quilting page eventually but I had to share the above shot with you today.
More later but I thought I'd drop that in now . . . Have a good morning/afternoon and I'll "talk" with you later.
As promised, here I am-- having accomplished little more today than getting the grocery shopping done for another week. That's pretty sad but also par for the course. You have to remember that my entire "To Do" list is going to consist of "Napping" on weekends. That, I accomplished. Therefore, my "chores" for the day are complete and I feel a whole lot better doing what needed to get done. Yes, I can fool myself into that without really trying all that hard.
Working On It
Still working on getting up some of the new pictures of quilts and Sally-- if I stretch it out long enough, it gives me something more to "talk" about here, get it? Just joking!!
By The Way
Remember when Barbara Thompson were up a few weeks ago and Barbara and I went to the mystery book shop? I did buy some books, too-- she has that influence on me . . . for spending money. We'll blame it on her and then I can't get yelled at for it.
Anyway, I digress . . . I bought some books-- probably five or six books and I have just finished my first one: You've Got Murder by Donna Andrews. Well written!! At one point I was so involved in the story and deep into reading it that I jumped at one of the plot twists!!! If someone can do that to you on the written page, they've got a knack, that's for sure!!
Really enjoyed it anyway and highly recommend it to you whether or not you're into mysteries-- good story line! Apparently, there's an entire series that she's written based on computers and I do intend to read the series over time.
I guess that's enough rattling on for me this evening. I'm going to go see what trouble I can get into at the sewing machine. Tomorrow I have to work at the part-time job and have a staff meeting/dinner after the store closes. I probably won't be home until around 8 or so. I may have another sewing job from Allex Kitterman, too and hope to get the fabric for that tomorrow as well.
Anyway, take care and have a great evening and night!
Friday, June 6, 2003Moving Along
A busy day today-- I had to work from home because the air conditioning people had to come by to check the air conditioner to make sure that it was working okay. They found the filters need to be replaced which Brian will handle at some point over the weekend. Then, it was back to work-- several schedules to be made up for the office and a couple of documents reviewed, etc. Same old, same old.
As usual, work was followed by physical therapy and, for awhile this afternoon, I felt some relief from the pain in my right knee. (Yes, that annoying sharp pain is still in my knee-- has been since Memorial Day weekend!) The pain is back now though but at least, I think we're making progress.
BBQ Finished
I finished the cover for the bar-b-que grill. A small rodent could take up residence in it along with the grill it is so big but, I think it'll be okay and still not be a welcoming place for bunnies, etc. Besides that'll just entertain Sally or, maybe we'll have to send for Duncan to tear up the back yard looking for the rabbit!!
I'm moving on to the quilt top that I was working on earlier in the week. I need to look at a book that's at the store before I start working on the dress that I want to wear for my nephew's wedding later this summer.
I guess I'm going to get back to it-- if for no other reason than Sally can't reach my wrists to flip my hands onto her back when I'm sewing! Since I've been typing this, she's nudged and flipped my wrist several times with her nose-- if I published the way that looked, you'd never understand what I was trying to say!!
Take care and thanks for coming by-- Have a good evening!
Thursday, June 5, 2003Long Week
Its been a long week this past week. I'm quite done in for some reason, perhaps because a few things are coming to a head and finishing off or at least, getting ready to finish off. Perhaps in preparation for what's to come, I am wanting to hang back a bit tonight and just do some simple reading.
I did get confirmation today that I will be able to attend the meetings in California in July. I'll be gone 4 nights which isn't too bad. The good news is that I'll get to see my friends, Pat & Nathan during that time but, since I'm stuck in the south bay with only the use of a car for one night, I probably won't get to see my in-laws. That's too bad cuz I would like to see them.
One of these days, Brian and I (both!) have to get to California to see them-- I miss not seeing the family!!
Anyway, sorry so short but it is one of those nights.
Take care, thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
Wednesday, June 4, 2003Sad But True
I have nothing major to report tonight-- no exciting work stuff; no exciting sewing stuff. Just plain old ordinary stuff.
Big Chicken!!
Sally went to get a blood draw tonight to check her thyroid problem; she didn't want to go to the back to get the blood draw. Ya know how I could tell? She sat down as the tech turned to take her back to the lab-- yep, sat down and wouldn't budge!! It was quite funny, actually. I had to fool her into thinking that I was going with her by starting her out walking down the hallway and then dropping off once she was walking on her own. She doesn't like the vet's office anymore-- I wonder why?
As we were leaving, she all but jumped into the truck! She doesn't dislike riding in cars anymore, by the way-- especially if the car is taking her away from the vet's office!!
Well, I need to get back to my bar-b-que cover-- have a good evening!
Tuesday, June 3, 2003That Phase Again
The week before the Thompson's came up their visit, I popped one of my acrylic nails-- no pain, it just came off while I was sewing. Then, while they were here, another one popped off (again, no pain) and then I decided I would take one off that didn't look good. Well, that's three-- then a few days later, I decided that another few didn't look stable so I took them off. Today, at work, I took off two more and, the last three are coming off tonight!
You know how I get: I get fed up with the acrylics and then I just don't have them for awhile. So, this weekend, when I go to my appointment, I'm going to get a pedicure instead. In fact, that's what I'm going to do for the next two appointments after that, too and then, on the third appointment, I'm going to get my nails put back on and a pedicure. Maybe by then, I'll be glad to have them back-- who knows?
A New Development
Guess who I got a call from today? The sewing machine store!! Guess where I'm going to go back to work on Sunday? Yep, you guessed it: the woman who lied for my commission is no longer there. They called me today-- today was her first day not being there. Hmm, very interesting, eh? Yep, I thought so, too.
I've got the rest of this week to finish up some sewing projects that I had in mind to finish and then, I'll only be able to sew sparingly sooo, I'd better get to it.
Take care and have a great evening!
Monday, June 2, 2003How do you know?
How do you know that Sally's doing better? By the way she puts her nose under my right wrist and flings my arm off the mouse so that I'll either (a) pet her or (b) get her a treat. Nope, Little Girl-- it isn't time!! The really funny part is that when I'm not mousing with my right hand, she goes to my left side trying to get to that arm (which isn't accessible).
Her recover is going well-- Sally is doing very well, thanks again for asking. She's losing the tilt to her head the more time that passes.
Did I Mention?
Ya gotta love the way my brain doesn't work, eh? I keep forgetting things like . . . my husband, the Brilliant One, made an easel to put a very heavy mirror on Saturday. He did such a beautiful job with angles and the design and all-- I am constantly amazed by and at him. I suppose, after five years of marriage, that's a good thing, right? I am just so surprised by him sometimes-- maybe "surprised" is the wrong word but, you get my point. He is so multi-talented. My fathter would be so happy for me to have finally found someone like Brian. I know that I'm happy I found him, even if it did take a lot of troubles and strife to get to him. Totally amazing!!
