Well, sorta-- another day of relaxation and rest for me. Brian did a bit more activity and, toward the end of the afternoon, I did as well-- cooking chili and baking apples for the upcoming week.
Other than that, nothing much has been happening around here which, I think, is a good thing for a change.
Seminar
On Monday and Tuesday, I'm going to be attending a seminar on government contracting. Should be loads of fun or a good way to network, whichever it ends up being. The thing is, when I get home from the seminar, I have to sign on to my computer and do my email and pick up voicemail messages so the day will not end at 6 for me. I'm likely to not post here until Wednesday so bear with me, okay? Thanks!
Have a good tonight and Monday !
Saturday, February 7, 2004Lazy Day
We've done very little today. Since I did the laundry yesterday, all we've had to do today is nurse Sally (she's not been feeling well again), call friends to ensure their safety (the Thompsons are off-line due to their internet carrier) and generally, laze about. Nice day for a change!
I've done a little sewing-related stuff but, again, nothing major. I "watched" one of the Harry Potter DVDs this afternoon while I napped and have generally done as little as possible.
Brian did do a bit of house cleaning but, again, not as much as he used to do. We keep the house fairly clean on our own so there isn't a lot for him to do if he does a little at a time. No, he's still not willing to call in a housekeeper although, I'm all for it.
Anyway, not to bore you but, that is all there is to offer at this point. Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening!
Friday, February 6, 2004Somewhat Better
I worked from home today and, while some of the problems with work have been resolved, other issues have not. We'll have to see how that develops but, at least I feel better about it at this point.
I have a two-day seminar to attend on Monday and Tuesday in DC so I'll be out of the office for those two days, working from home after I get home. That sounds like a lot of work/fun, doesn't it? Yeah, I know-- I can hardly wait.
Other Activities
Besides working today, I also met a friend for lunch and did laundry in between phone calls. Lucy follows me whenever I make a move (up and down the stairs 40 times a day with me!) but Sally sleeps through everything. She doesn't seem to wake or stir except every now and then. What a cutie!
So?
How'dja like the pictures of Sally and Lucy? Aren't they great? Such cuties, huh? I don't know how the rest of you put up with not having the two cutest doggies in the world but I'm glad we've got them!!
Thanks for your patience and for stopping by-- appreciated and noted, believe me!
Take care of yourselves and have a good evening and a great weekend!
Thursday, February 5, 2004Not Good
Not a good day at work--nothing really surprising there. But, as a result, it has put me in a lousy mood so there's not going to be much of a post up here tonight.
Be well and have a good evening.
Wednesday, February 4, 2004Another Milestone
This is the sixth anniversary of the beginning of our second date. I say "beginning" because technically, we're still on our second date-- it hasn't ever ended. The story of this wonderful courtship and love affair are located here and here-- enjoy!
By the way, no, I don't make Brian remember these anniversaries-- women are more romantic about those things than men-- he does enjoy that I remind him. He is only required to remember one anniversary date, of course, our wedding anniversary which will also be six years this year. My goodness, how time flies when you're happy and having fun!!
Miscellany
Well, my sewing machine is back home-- it feels better with all of the contents of my sewing room where they are supposed to be.
I've finished "K" but I didn't like this one as much as the others. If you think about that though, if she's going to mess up one story in every eleven, I'll forgive her. All-in-all, Sue Grafton's done a really great job in fleshing out the characters and following the history she's created.
I'm finding that I'm watching less and less of television these days; thankfully, we discontinued the premium package upon moving into the house! I just don't watch anything on commercial television except on Thursdays and Sundays. There's nothing of any quality on it anymore so I don't bother-- I think that's interesting. Of course, the fact that I'd rather read or sew plays a big part of that difference, too.
Usually I tend to avoid social, political or "cultural" discussions on this website, but I have to ask the question: When Janet Jackson said she was sorry she offended people because she didn't think that would bother them, what was she thinking? Does she think we all sit around watching and waiting for her to expose her body parts for us? Oh, PULLLEEEZZZE!!! That's the last thing that I'd want to see-- trust me on that one! Talk about narcissistic!!
Okay, I guess that's it for me for tonight-- I've got some design work that I want to do with my software.
If you haven't yet, go over and see Sally and Lucy pictures-- they're soooo cute!! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and have a great evening!

(Update at 8:20pm)Once Again
Working from home . . . in between stomping out fires (believe me, its the only thing keeping my feet warm!), I've put up some pictures: Sally's page has been updated, Lucy's page has been created and I've put up the most recent pictures of my last project completion in quilting.
Gotta get back to work!
Enjoy and have a good day!
Unfortunately, there isn't anything big and new to report-- my sewing machine is ready for pick up but we had to know that would happen eventually, right? I'll go tomorrow after work to pick it up and then I'll be able to keep sewing on my sister's wall-hanging.
I finished up the towels today after work so they're ready for use . . . I may also end up saving them to use as gifts for people. I can't decide what to do with them. I'll think about it and let you know what happens, okay?
So . . . don't forget to go look at Sally's updated page and Lucy's new page and the quilting page for allllll of the most recent updates!
Enjoy and have a great evening!
Monday, February 2, 2004One Thing
I've been trying to figure out why the software for my "big" sewing machine (heretofore referred to as "Deone") wasn't working. Well, most of it was working but not all of it. I've been scratching my head and de-installing and re-installing the software for about a week now. Tonight, I finally got ready to fire off an email to the company that makes the software to find out where the bug was-- well, I actually did fire off an email. Of course, after I hit the send button, I saw the "Search" box so I could find the actual problem with the software-- Doh!!!
Anyway, I found the update and v-I-ola . . . no more problems!! Yeah!! I did a couple of high-fives to myself and tried to give one to Sally and Lucy but, they didn't quite get the concept (that's a blonde-thang I guess).
I was able to finish the designs for the finger-tip towels that I'm making for the half-bath off the kitchen. They will only be for "show" but when we have "company" here, the terry towels will get put in the drawer. The towels that I've made up have designs that almost match the wallpaper in that bathroom. They're made of huck toweling which is really strong and absorbent but Brian is concerned that it will be more decorative than functional so . . . that's why we'll use them only during visitors are here.
And Another
On Saturday Sally had an "episode" where she couldn't walk and it really scared me-- I don't like to see her hurt. We were all set to go to the vet's with her when it just stopped being a problem. Okay, no big deal.
Tonight, I put the dogs outside after dinner and watched them (I have been watching her more closely since Saturday anyway). She couldn't walk-- she was dragging her butt and walking with her forearms!! I went out and helped her up the stairs (okay, I carried her up the stairs) and helped her get into the house. I called for Brian and, just as suddenly as Saturday, she started walking fine again. Well, not perfect but better than she was walking (and not being able to walk a few minutes before).
She and I have this pact: She isn't allowed to die on me. I worry about her. I don't like to see her hurting.
Brian thinks that maybe her hip is going out of joint and, frankly, that makes sense. We'll keep you posted as to her progress on that . . . make her stop worrying me!!
Picture Post Card
I was going to make up a "Picture Post Card" of all of the pictures that I owe you but, "One Thing" "And Another" and well, it ain't happenin' tonight, folks! I'll shoot again for tomorrow night.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!
